Almost 3 years now and nothing. Yes, they probably have answered the question by now. OR LE realizes they aren't going to get an answer. I'm still baffled by LE waiting over 2 years to mention it. That was a real Hail Mary pass. I have a rural road I commonly drive on to get to a nearby park and I pass a vacant business on the way and this route is not the common route to the park. If LE asked me now if I saw a vehicle parked there in, say, November 2019, I doubt if I would ever recall seeing a vehicle let alone ANYTHING that would even remotely ID it.
The word “vehicle” leads me to believe that it could’ve been something other than a car. Like a motorcycle, and not just a HD. But something like a Ducati, a Hayabusa, a chopper, an Indian motorcycle, etc., or a truck. Or even a car that’s not often seen on the road, e.g. antiques, muscle car are, expensive cars like a Bentley, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz G-class, etc. Or even one with some kind of customization of the body, not necessarily the paint job, like you mentioned (although that is a good point/idea). Or even a vehicle that was not known to be driven by the locals, etc...
I went down this road before because I know of a potential POI who is a motorcyclist. Someone found for me a quote/instance when LE specifically called it a car. Can’t look for a link or anything but it satisfied me. Doesn’t mean it’s still relevant though. (I haven’t forgotten that motorcyclist.)

I believe LE has stated they have DNA now or at least Sheriff Leazenby stated it this last February when he stated they have DNA but they don't know if they have the killer's DNA. At the 2018 CrimeCon, ISP 1st Sgt Jerry Holeman stated they would neither confirm nor deny they had DNA.
I had forgotten about that "answer". That's about the same time or after the HLN interview where he said they had DNA. Talk about mixed messages.
