I really do. Carter was so intense and (I think) feels LE got hoodwinked in their initial investigation. Their aware now and pretty upset. I think we might also be watching some obstruction of justice charges going down pretty soon.
I do too, but for me, it has nothing to do with Carter’s demeanor.

You don’t change course, unless you have a damn good reason for doing so.

This wasn’t done on a whim.

There’s a reason that no one recognized that initial sketch, but I’m confident that this one will cause people to consider people they know, that they wouldn’t have otherwise suspected.

These next weeks could lead to something.

Do we know if a person provided the "secondary" sketch? If so, that person has probably been reinterviewed to see if any of it was suspicious (c0ver up) or just someone else they saw that day.

Posted MSM confirming this earlier today in thread #91.

"Secondary" sketch released to public July 2017 was from an eyewitness that did not come forward immediately. The eyewitness allegedly saw the individual suspect before the girls were missing and/or dead.

The relevant sketch released on Monday was based on an eyewitness that came forward within 2 days, and artist completed the sketch on 2/17/17.

Many questions about the later eyewitness....

Same here. I'm suspicious. It's actually making my skin crawl.

Well, to be fair to that poster, I just searched the Terms of Service, and Etiquette and Information thread, and didn't see anything barring discussion of geocaching. Where in the rules is it stated?
I notified a moderator so that we can get some clarity on the geocaching subject.

Thanks for the videos, this one really "came to life " for me, he seems more menacing and purpose driven somehow. Scary.
imo, speculation.

I zoomed right in & he appears to be muttering to himself.

I’m certain of it his days of freedom are numbered his time is up.

I wonder who is under surveillance now.

Well if you can be optimistic considering you wore that sketch as your avatar for who knows how long, then I suppose I can keep the faith too. :)

There’s just something that bugs me about all this new business and I can’t quite put my finger on it.

what on earth is that hat? is it a hunting hat?

Remember back when the biggest emphasis was on NOT looking at the hat...why was it even there? That made no sense at all.

My newest enhancements:

That one threw me for a loop because I have always, since day one, perceived BG as wearing a baseball cap type hat, but in that video it looks quite clearly like he has a hood from a sweatshirt over his head.

Like, I've always thought he was wearing a sweatshirt under the coat, but I've never seen it as having the hood up.

I noticed in some frames he looks like he's even grinning while in others he appears to be frowning. muttering would make sense. He is tilting over quite a bit to his left in some while upright in others.

I zoomed right in & he appears to be muttering to himself.

I think they just didn't have a hairline description.
Apparently, with the new (yet oldest) pic, we have a hairline description and even curly or wavy hair.

I will probably get in trouble but really wish this site would take down the old image...not helping clear up all the confusion, imo...

Taking it off all the billboards is going to be harder.

MOO. I said threads ago that this person walks with his hips, and not forward with his legs like normal.

The new sketch has many similarities to the first, but a younger man.

Yes and possibly just had to deal with angry parents minutes before. Tough job

When you know that Sup. Carter was just the messenger who didn't make any of these decisions alone. He was in an unenviable spot on Monday, but somebody had to announce the changes to be made. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have gotten 5 minutes of sleep the night before such a conference.

Right. So, he was trying to cover up his looks. He had a purpose in mind and did try to disguise himself. I'll bet with the initial pics and artist rendition he felt like a genius! Yeah. Thinking about that makes me more suspicious that someone came forward months after the murders to give a description of the perp. Was it a ruse?

Thanks again, Matt!

I really appreciate you taking the time to field these questions as an experienced LEO.
What you've said in this post provides great food for thought and points for discussion.

So, it sounds like in your own opinion, the following is true:
  • This was an opportunistic killings.
  • Feelings of anger and powerlessness are likely triggers to the murder.
  • BG is feeling powerful that he hasn't been caught. He does have the potential to kill again after a long gap. He won't suicide. Wants attention.
  • DNA may have been recovered at crime scene and/or in vehicle, but you think there was DNA recovered somewhere.
Is that a fair summary?

One point of clarification: I don't think we know if LE has recovered a vehicle, but I'm not sure. Can anyone else speak to that???

Al

I have thought that too, I am torn between a hunting cap and hood atm

Yeah. They may have decided to be more firm on the discounting of that initial sketch.

Judging by social media, there are plenty of people still hung up on that initial sketch.

Making it “secondary,” probably wasn’t bold enough.
If we are all having a bit of confusion re. sketch one and two, and we are discussing it all in great detail, imagine how confusing it is for the public at large! Sheesh lol.

For sure.

He had to address more people than he’s ever addressed before, in a press conference that received national media coverage.

He had to make a difficult announcement, that for two years, they had been chasing the wrong ghost.

He had to deal with all the questions that would arise, many of which he could not answer (to protect the investigation).

There was the human element, especially in dealing with the families.

Unenviable indeed.
