Libby's family did attend Delphi United Methodist. Her funeral was held there as well.

Was it ever proven they crossed the creek, instead of being forced back over the bridge?

I do believe they crossed the creek, just wondering if proof was offered. I guess my question is, did LE say it?
Had this thought as well but then "Guys...Down the hill"...

So, I, too, have come up with a POI and have emailed a name and the other info LE requested to the tipline. I am sure LE has received this info numerous times, but it can't hurt to send it in again.

My main bullet points:
  • early 20's
  • lives in a town close to Delphi
  • went to school in Delphi
  • has extensive church affiliations in and around the Delphi area
  • family also very religious and has significant church affiliations
  • matches the current sketch (face shape, chin, eyes, eyelids, placement of facial features), except for hairline and hair type
  • hair color matches reddish-brown color we have been given
  • putting many of the LE clues together, he is easy to find on the net
What I don't have a clue about:
  • tie/ties to The Shack
  • possible motive
  • whether or not the girls knew him or knew of him
  • witnesses
  • the vehicle info LE has requested
What I FULLY believe:
  • LE knows exactly who he is and is monitoring him closely
  • They are in need of some additional concrete info to solidify their case
  • An arrest is imminent
MOO

I mean't run to the church. I have found LE to not be thorough or competent at all and that's almost always why these cases are unsolved.

Here and I have always been under the impression that many cases like this remain unsolved because of lack of evidence.....

Its hard to claim incompetence when you don't know what evidence Investigators have to work off of....MOO

The problem with a targeted, planned attack IMO - why would he choose to launch it outside, in public, in an open-air location popular with teens on warm afternoon when schools were closed??

If he knew he wanted one (or both? Why both??) of these girls, why wouldn’t he choose somewhere far less likely to result in being seen / heard / girls escaping?

IMO more likely he was at the location looking for a victim than he went there specifically to target them.

Yep, there's that. Plus, IIRC there were footprints found creekside. moo

Despite the date at the top being today’s date, the article itself has the date in February 2017. So it’s an old article.
Can’t even trust the press. Like we need anymore confusion around here!

That sort of reflects my thoughts on why LE asked the media not to contact the family for two weeks, to shield them from piranha reporters seeking scandal. Aside from the tragedy of the murders, a side show of raw family emotion makes for great headlines, whether it exists or would be created from selective snipping a few words together. But it does nothing to help solve the murders. I have great respect for both families, the way they’ve maintained dignity throughout the entire time while appealing to the public.

It's a tight timeline. My guess is they were deceased within 20 minutes or so of the "down the hill" part of the recording. ....

Yes, a fam member of the girls (MP?) told media it happened very quick in the immediate aftermath when tongues were wagging freely IIRC.

No, that's not what I am proposing. I knew when I wrote this that they were both done at the same time. The first was an FBI composite sketch and the second from a witness.

That said, both sketches have similar facial characteristics. The only true visual we have of the suspect is BG on video and/or photo. The FBI sketch is likely based on a reconstruction of the photo based on what they could see and the other is from a witness's memory. Neither is absolute.

It's my belief that the sketches are of the same person. The FBI artist thought the man to be older than the witness's account. They all must have thought he was older and thus set aside the witness's sketch. Now they know that not to be the case.
I think that is what happened. Makes sense.

And BG benefited from the the decision to go with Sketch #1. Did that embolden him? Did he brag or make comments to anyone about it?

I notified a moderator so that we can get some clarity on the geocaching subject.

Tricia stated in the earlier threads (2017) that the topic is off limits. WS has a keyword search so you might find it that way.

Here it is ...

.... obviously we can tell how religious the people in charge of this investigation are which makes me fear that the those who share the police religious believes may not be investigated as properly as they should have been. Moo.

Interesting point .... I’ve heard there are a number of Amish community members / ex-members around there, a cloistered & protective group (AFAIK per public perception)

This is a good point. There was actually a huge chance that a lot of people would be hiking around there that day.

I agree, I think he was likely lurking and I think he probably was just waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.

I can’t stop thinking about the press conference Monday. It was announced days earlier so one would think it would be carefully planned and scripted down to the T. But the actual press conference turned out to be a hot mess. Was this an act of brilliance? Or a screw up?

Supt Carter is the head of ISP. He's THE guy. But he could barely contain his – what – rage? Rage is what I sensed. Sure, the perp is a horrible person, of course. But get it together, man, you’re a professional! No matter what is going on behind the scenes that we are not privy to, Carter was supposed to relay critical information to the public. I am sure his emotion was real, I am not doubting that, but did he allow his emotion to overrun and obfuscate the press conference on purpose? Did they release misleading information about the vehicle and confuse the public about the sketches on purpose? I can’t get my head around that press conference which was like nothing I’ve ever seen.

I don't think it was rage. I think it was pure shock, sadness, frustration, disbelief, and yes anger. To me the overall emotion from him was " I can't believe this is happening!" Directed at both the suspect and/or someone that covered for him and was involved with the case on some level.

IF the perp is such a religious and accepted member of society, he CAN'T do that: turning himself in. IMO
Peel
I cannot agree more about the police chief
He was so emotional and anxious that it’s like he’s had the shock of his life with what he has been told and he feels very very betrayed hence why I think there’s a connection to LE

I think the press conference was held at Delphi United Methodist. That big sign with all the names of God in the top right corner of the room is also seen in pics of some of their baby christenings/dedications.

I find the location to be very interesting as I assume Delphi has a community center they could’ve used instead.

That picture is from a different presser. Monday's press conference was not held at Delphi UMC.

For the thrill of it. He has to be a sick and twisted monster.
