Great post, thanks!

He does not look 5’5” to me - I’d put him at 5’7”-5’9” … but with head low.
Maybe he’s actually standing straight or even on his toes, which could take inches off estimate … who can tell!
Shoe lifts to make short guys look taller perhaps?

This is such a great post praising law enforcement, in particular, Doug Carter.

I very much agree it's been a rich blessing to have his efficiency. I never lost faith in Carter but the long wait was agonizing. For the families, they had to wake up saying "Today is the Day" so hope was not lost. May there be justice for these two precious children and their community.
<modsnip> Carter is the superintendent of the state police and had nothing to do with the actual investigation? He was the face of the investigation. He didn’t knock on doors, answer the 25,000 phone calls, or interview anyone.

I’ll compare him to Chief Charles Moose of Montgomery County during the sniper case twenty years ago. There were things in that case that Moose wasn’t told for fear that he’d get it wrong.

Just picking your brain on this as I haven't researched what is typical. I have always had the assumption of escalation. Would this indeed have been the first crime of this nature if RA is responsible? Or would you expect a build-up to this?

I am curious about what interviewing his close contacts might look like? I think it is ok to ask that as long as I am not discussing contacts or family directly. Would we expect them to be conducting long interviews and further search warrants? i.e. all computers, phones, etc?
Does spousal privilege apply to police interviews or only to court matters and testifying?

CRR is a 41-year-old man in a different town. RA may have used his identity for something, but this man is real and aware of what's going on.
So a kind of identity theft.

I wonder why he picked that in particular.

Much gratitude to LE for their unwavering fight and perseverance to bring the killer of Libby and Abby to Justice. Hoping this also helps Libby and Abby's families. For 5 years, we were all worried about more innocents being harmed and the families never knew if anyone they passed by could possibly be the killer. Now they can stop wondering.
I found this article and feel that RA was taunting LE and the public by having his photo taken at a bar near the police sketch hanging of the perp IMO. Typical sociopathic behavior. And I do feel bad for his family, esp his own child. This must be a nightmare for them.
Wish the perp had never been born so Libby and Abby could have lived full lives.
So many heartfelt thanks to LE.
Well, to me, the way he is wearing his beard and appears to be heavier, he doesn't resemble the sketch behind them. JMO
Shaved his head, grew a beard, so he is fitting the behavior police predicted.
Does look like to me that shaving his head and beard would have raised some suspicions.

New podcast about the vibe in the town etc from MS is up.
“A sketch is a sketch and that’s really important for everybody to understand," Carter said. "I believe that the individual when we catch him, it will be a combination of those two.”
I feel like this happened because he looks young for his age, so witnesses maybe thought he was younger than he was?

I’d think it’s more than DNA since he lives so close to the bridge, especially if DNA was just found in the general area. It would be necessary for LE to have evidence to prove RMA actually committed the murders.

Maybe someone close to him learned something from him that only the killer would know? Assuming he will be convicted, if a someone close to him assisted it would be really great if they also were able to collect the substantial reward money to help in rebuilding their future life. JMO
If LE now thinks he walked to and from the scene from home i wonder if they’ve been out in the area behind his house (possibly along the creek from the scene) to look for other possible evidence?

It's amazing what focus hindsight can provide.

I realize now that something always bugged me about BG's jeans. Now I know - it's the leg length that was off. Way off. It seems obvious now that BG is a very short man.
It’s funny in my mind I always pictured him as short. He reminds me a lot of a man I used to work with. Same build walk everything, and that man was also short. But it never clicked in my head I was picturing him as short. Just sort of took that for granted.

I had not checked into Websleuths since Thursday. It has literally taken all afternoon to get caught up on this news. I started from about page 17 on thread 149 and have read every single post. I am so grateful that some progress has been made, and that justice seems to be 1 step closer for Libby, Abby, and their families. I am also thankful for our Websleuths community and all the work people put in to share information. May this turn out to be the arrest we have all been hoping and praying for.

I admire the ISP Superintendent for his no nonsense, serious, professional attitude. His ISP helicopter was spotted at the Wabash Rvr search, but that's just my opinion really since there's not a link provided. <modsnip>

It is much more likely the alias was based on a clerical error.

I hope it's okay I did a side by side now that we have an arrest.

I really don't see him and sketch #2 looking like the same guy at all. More like maybe the brother of the sketch #2 guy?
source

I've never seen the 2nd sketch with facial hair, so that must be new. Is there a link to this one?

Ontario Mom, it's the sketch I quoted from post #442 by MountainGal33 in this thread.

If you compare that to the sketch you posted in post #446, you can see that the sketch in #442 has a goatee while the version you posted does not. (The drawing of the young guy without a hat).

The version I had seen is the one you posted but I had not been following this case recently. So I wondered where/when the sketch with the goatee (no hat) came into being? Is it official or something someone on the internet created after RA's name and photo were published?

My question is, where did this sketch with the goatee originate?

Here's his alias in the article: Craigh Ross Rentfrow
When did Richard use the alias?

Curious MW as to why you feel the K's aren't involved?

To me KAKs little excursion and subsequent search of the river lines up perfectly with a new arrest.

Also KAK admitted to interacting with and setting up a meet with Libby the day of the murder but 'didn't follow through' .........

Well I do have to wonder if the media focus on the K’s was a diversionary tactic, enabling LE to grill down on RMA who might’ve believed the heat was elsewhere. Plus he lived so close to the trails and probably knew school was out that day, if at the time he was on the hunt he wouldn’t require a 3rd party to tell him when or where to go to locate possible victims. It’s been reported it’s not unusual for teens to hangout at the bridge. So perhaps he took the opportunity when noticing the two in an semi-isolated area?

In KAK’s statement I see somebody who is a bit of an attention-seeker who thrives on creating drama. Where was he supposed to meet her, where did he go to find she wasn’t there?

I also go with the family’s gut feeling that the girls went to the bridge spontaneously, without a plan to meet anyone. They knew them best and any of us who have children usually will say we could tell when our children were “up to something”.

The other thing is while Libby’s phone has been reset, it wasn’t done on that very day. Since it was recovered, I think if there was online communication arranging a meeting with a specific party the crime wouldn’t have taken this long to solve.

I believe that is a doctored sketch combining elements of both. This does look like him but I don't think he looks like either of the originals. JMO
It is one of the original pictures. Released April 28, 2019.

(With the goatee added from the first picture).

And we will have to agree to disagree. I think the April 28th picture with or withou the goatee looks 100 percent like him. Not perfect but close enough for me.

I agreed. I feel he acted alone and everything else is a strange coincidence. But of course I could be wrong as well.
Oh! OK then I'll go with crazy eyes.

ETA I remember Israel Keyes telling investigators he didn't ever want his family knowing the details of his crimes, especially his daughter.

I imagine this guy feels the same way.
I get the vibe from pictures this guy was just going through the motions to keep face to to the public but he was likely a big pedophile and just used his home life for cover.

I know of several people who’ve given an alias when pulled over by LE and “no oops I left it (ID) at home” because they didn’t have a valid license for one reason (dui for example) or another - so if they gave their real name they’d be in trouble. (Using a family member or friends name usually) Eventually it catches up with them and is added to their record, listing names used previously. Im sure this is more difficult to get away with now given better technology, but just throwing that out there.

He may have also been in possession of an ID with that name when arrested maybe?

That's going to have come from people on the internet. I've seen the one with the goatee, and a mashup of that photo with his face on one side and the sketch on the other.

Law enforcement only ever put out the clean shaven version.

There’s been speculation here about the possibility of a vehicle being sighted on CCTV but not a homeowners camera capturing someone walking along a footpath towards the bridge, I think mainly because it’s somewhat of a shock to find out the person who was arrested lived so close by.
