I hope that the fact that he didn't charge them for processing their photos means that he feels some level of guilt for what he did. Maybe that will cause him to stumble over his story or even to fess up.
I highly doubt this. I think it was what he thought anybody in that town would be expected to do and would help him seem empathetic to their situation. MOO but this man has no empathy for anyone.

I’m behind and still listening to Carter’s closing statements as I take time to slowly take notes, and take breaks as I enjoy pumpkin spice latte season.

In the beginning, when Carter was mentioning specific people on the team, he referenced/praised a female scientist standing in the back. I can’t wait to hear her speak, if she speaks. I’m wondering if they’ll answer the age old DNA question, I doubt it, unless that’s what led to his arrest and they divulge that, we’ll see. I look forward to reading back once I get through this conference.

This! This! This!

And it makes me mad that IMO they are trying to manipulate the public into thinking it was all these years of hard work. Just admit what's up! People will trust you if you're transparent. Instead he chose shady.

thats why they are keeping the doors open for possibilities ..they wont come and say ( we have been wrong )
the public was in dire danger with the killer right in there.. there are two witnesses who lived in the same town
not those guys.. they will keep it close to the vest till the trial

I didn't see the whole contingent of people at the podium but the ones I saw were:

Jeremy Piers, ISP Lafayette Post Press Information officer - he took over when Kim Riley retired.
Nic McCleland, Carroll County prosecutor
Tobe Leazenby, Carroll County Sheriff
Detective Liggett
was that Delphi mayor Anita Werling?
former Delphi police chief, now prosecutor's office investigator Steve Mullins
ISP 1st Sgt. Holeman
and of course ISP Superintendent Doug Carter - can I just say to Doug Carter, don't ever change! He was in usual form today.

Carter also mentioned ISP investigators J. Harper, Dave Vido, Brian Harshman and from the US Marshal's Office Agent Jeremy Clinton among others.

I'm sure I'm not alone in this but my conclusion is that the probable cause is currently sealed not just out of an abundance of caution but because they really do want to hold anyone else who was involved even in a minor way responsible and they got a judge to agree there was some level of likelihood of that. A reporter mentioned "sealed for 30 days" and McCleland did not correct him.
I love the way LE handled this…no leaks, unlike the “sources” in QS case.

This upsets me so much! Wasn't at least 2 of the witnesses young girls?

Doug Carter literally said at the presser and this is a direct quote, "We are going to continue a very methodical and commited approach to ensure any that if any other person had any involevment in these murders in any way, that person or persons will be held accountable."

Does that mean others are definitely involved? No. Does it leave the door open to suggest there might be others involved? Certainly IMO.
I agree.

Are there ways for LE to surreptitiously gather DNA?
Sometimes they'll follow a suspect to obtain DNA (dropped cigarette, drink straw, utensils, cup, etc).

Other times they'll take their trash. Once they receive a match they confirm via a mouth swab.

I can see him boasting to his co-workers that he comped them on the copies of the photos to look like the concerned good citizen he should be. JMO

Yes there is!

In Canada there is.

Police suspected a female accomplice in the Tim Bosma murder and keyed in on Dellen Millard’s girlfriend.

They followed her. She threw a drink with a straw in it into the garbage. They took it and voila a match.

Not sure if you can do that in the US.

MOO
This might have taken them by surprise. They need time to see if their pieces fit the new pieces presented by Richard Allen being the or a murder.
MOO And where the info that prompted the recent searches is being protected.
Of course. They need to protect this case. We got the info we needed today regarding the two most important charges at this current time. This invesgation and case still has a lot of ground to cover IMO.
