I don't think it's odd at all. He used a word he felt conveyed the most powerful meaning in the moment. The property he knows to be serene and peaceful has been forever altered by despicable acts. He feels violated. I would too. imo.

The most powerful word to convey how he felt might have been more about the loss of those children than how he felt effected by the fact that his property in the woods was the crime site. IMOO

:yeahthat: My opinion is yes there were signs of the girls being dragged, which led the searchers to their bodies.

I don't have a link but it was stated early on that searchers found the bodies by following footprints.

If this was my friend or family member, I'd say they had a serious problem with alcohol

Always had a person with him.

.IMHO the voice of RL in some interviews is very similar to the voice of "down the hill"...except one is coming from a sadistic position of power and control, the other is coming from the position of a victim.

Quoted from a post by Apples12. You know, I admitted earlier to some cognitive dissonance regarding RL. When I compared the voice recordings at first I told myself they sounded different, but then a little voice inside pointed out what you posted. I immediately rejected it, but I did store it away in a box in my mind for future examination.

I'm still on the fence regarding the photo comparisons. They don't look like the same person IMO.

What is that hole in the back passengers window?

I agree. What is that hole?????

But omg what hole?? I only saw this video:
http://fox59.com/2017/03/17/authorities-serve-search-warrant-in-connection-with-delphi-murder-case/
and rewound it a bunch of times but barely get a glimpse of the back window!
Can you provide me the link to the image you're looking at?
Are you referring to a back side window, or the rear cab window?

:gaah: so. tired.

I am imagining crossing that bridge drunk (or I suppose otherwise impaired). Yikes.

That's the ONLY way I could cross it.. with liquid courage

I really hating posting about their bodies being dragged and depending where from to where they were found could be one of the many reasons for the search going on. sigh.

I'm very aware of the other meanings of the word 'rape', what I'm trying to convey is that at his age, this word usually means one thing only and that is sexual assault. JMO

I'm considerably younger than RL and that's what it means to me too. I guess other people do use that word to describe any sort of "advantage taking", or maybe "violation" from what I am reading here. Has it become a figure of speech? Uhhgg.

I do find it odd that he said that, but more because the sympathy he displayed, when he did, was for himself. I hadn't heard/read that before. Missed that statement somehow...

It is easier to get a restraining order/order of protection in Indiana than some think. Especially if the parties are related domestically somehow.

I have seen it where in a dispute over visitation/child support (dad wanted to see kids on a regular basis, mom wanted more money than was being given to her) led one party (mom) to file successfully against the other party (dad). And mom was the only one who went in front of the judge to plead the case for it. She told judge that dad owned a gun and didn't feel right having kids around it and feared for her safety. She told judge several lies to get it. When dad gave proof otherwise the order was rescinded. But it can be done sadly to ruin a person or burden a person without a person knowing about it until afterwards.

In this case it was done as a tactic to keep dad away from kids and make him bad while filing a court case for child support and make the dad look bad in front of the kids by not coming around.

You're right- in most states you can drive on your own property without a license. I did when I was nine. But having both been raised on a farm, and recently (decades later) shopped for a new 4x4 myself, this seems like a crazy-expensive vehicle for a 77-yr-old to purchase just to drive around his barns and lanes. I mean he could, but I'm just looking at likelihood. There are older vehicles with plenty of hp for towing, that you'd use to boondock around your own acreage. Just not convinced that somebody else might not have parked or stored their vehicle at RL's place. Not entirely convinced it's his. I've had a friend's truck stored in my yard (back acreage) for the winter before. jmo, just brainstorming...

Since he has a pretty large horse trailer I would assume he takes ( or had taken) the horses off property.

Just got home from the area. The picture provided was in my opinion taken from most likely a seated position from the last platform on the left side of the bridge if traveling southeast on the bridge as bg was in the pic. In my opinion he took them the rest of the way to the SE end of the bridge and to the left "down the hill". Crossing the bridge is somewhat nerve-wracking and treacherous and allows high visibility. I cant see him trying to force them back across the bridge to take them down the hill. Also in my opinion, the guy knows the area and knows it well. I dont feel it was planned i feel he took advantage of an opportunity. I also feel like bg has killed before. His confidence level to take two teens at the same time in a public venue tells me he was confident and experienced. He must have formed his plan very quickly and had an easy egress.

Thanks. Looking forward to hearing the results of your analysis and any other observations about the area that you may have.

Heres the thing- if this man does indeed have a problem with alcohol (which he sure seems to, at least in recent years ) he will not come across how we expect a normal person would. I grew up with an alcoholic. RL is coming across much better than she ever could. I shudder to think of the things she would have said in this situation .A lot of it would have been unrelated nonsense I think or a lot about how it sucks for her,her child and her property. .
Alcoholics always find a way to make themselves the victim.
They got to the point they did by feeling hard done by, bad things always happen to me etc etc..heck...half the time bad things did happen to make them the way they are
Everything after that is just people trying to make their lives harder and ruin it some more .

If he had it bad..would have been interesting what he said whilst angry and withdrawing in prison
