My apologies. I've been reading every MSM story & LE quote I could find since the girls went missing. Also trying to keep up with the threads here. I'm getting a bit confused. MO

I think we've all experienced that...no worries. :)

Or a place people go who enjoy hiking, bird-watching, photography, etc. I've been to a number of places like that and managed to do so without smoking weed or drinking.

ETA: or making out. My mama raised a goody-two shoes. :innocent:

hey I went tolcatholic school pretty much raised by nuns but this is exactly the kind of place we would go not to get caught doing something mom would t approve of.

I have not seen any photos of this place with ppl in them.
Just Abby a d the bad man.
All the other videos taken by ppl have no ppl in them is very creepy like a horror movie.

This is from 2014 but the county had a quote of $24000 for security cameras at the Transfer Station. So in 2017 I think they probably had them. I was thinking about RL and he had to confess going to the TS because of cameras and some friend allegedly put it on FB. There were no charges against him about going to Lafayette so quite possibly he went with a friend. Who drove? Probably one would cover for the other. Whether he bought fish or not if they stopped for supper and what older guy wants to cook then he probably got home when he said he did. I wish LE would have said if that part of his alibi was the truth. They don't seem to be disputing it so maybe he really did go and was not around Delphi at the time of the murders.
One thing I've been wondering about is the stipulation for RL's probation that he cannot have access to his car. Was it always kept at the property across the street or did he usually keep it elsewhere. If he usually kept his car at a friend or neighbor's house and gave that person his keys and had that person drive him around, would that still be against the terms of his probation? Would he be obligated to get rid of the car entirely? Or is it just a matter of the proximity to his place? I wonder if anyone knows more about this and what such a term of probation usually entails?

Yes exactly, LE originally said they didn't believe the girls were in harm's way/or that there was foul play. But once they found them it became a homicide investigation and was clear enough that they were murdered.

Then why were we speculating suicide?
I remember that statement way back in the first thread.

I've noticed in Libby's pictures as well as others on SM the bridge area looks pretty desolate. The trails are surely popular but I don't get the impression most people walk across the bridge. Its the end of the trail anyway so you know if you walk across you have to turn around and walk back. I wonder if the turn off the the nature trail is more popular and if those people who were on the trail that day took that instead of the bridge. I would be more interested in going down to the creek than across the bridge.

I've always been a lurker. I live 10 minutes from this bridge and hadn't ever heard of it until this happened. I've been out twice since the murders to lay flowers and have only encountered 1-3 people on the trails at a time who were clearly there to do the same thing I was doing. The part of the trail I was on is BORING except for the bridge. In my eyes, the main draw would be the bridge and you'd be done. So i can totally see how it could have just been BG and the girls out there that day. Warm or not, the area is pretty difficult to access and there didn't seem to be much other than the bridge to get people out there.

Thank you It's not something one gets over...I have PTSD because of it.
It has been MO throughout this case that this is very possible, based on my own experience & feeling like there is just no way the girls were brought back to the area. It would also make sense as to why LE thought there was no foul play at first (they stated it was because of the way their bodies were when found). Maybe LE thought it was a suicide pact? All just MO
LE said they "suspected foul play" which is standard language in a homicide.

Thank you for your insight. I thought the same thing (boring) when I watched the youtube videos. The creek and bridge are great but the rest was blah. moo

Yes, #1Nana said it was really hard to find if you didn't already know where it was.

You live in Delphi then? Perhaps you could give us feel for the atmosphere there? Are people nervous & fearful or confident that LE is on this? How has this tragedy changed life there?

:greetings::wagon:

I'm sure you're correct if you're just hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. What I keep going back to in my mind is IMO, no murders were planned, it was something that escalated out of anger, got out of hand, and in a panic things spiraled out of control into two murders. I think, IMO, the girls were under leaves and maybe small branches because I don't believe this person was thinking clearly due to panic and needed to get quickly away before discovery and to establish alibis.
i think you may be spot on

What is the atmosphere like in Delphi now it's been nearly 2 months ?

Then why were we speculating suicide?
I remember that statement way back in the first thread.

I don't think suicide has been floated as a possibility. Another poster was under the impression that LE said after finding the bodies that it didn't appear to be foul play, and wondered if a hanging scenario led LE to say that. It was clarified that LE's remark was made when they first went missing.

I don't believe I heard LE ever say that. Is there a source? My memory is from the first press conference where the opposite was said.

http://fox59.com/2017/02/14/carroll-county-authorities-continue-search-for-missing-teenagers/

Based on the information given by family and friends, police do not believe foul play is involved and have been given no information that would lead them to believe the girls are in any immediate danger, other than exposure to outside elements.
Officers looked into issuing an Amber Alert, but were informed this incident does not meet the criteria.

Autopsies scheduled for 2 bodies found during search for missing Carroll County teens

"They are not releasing identifications on the bodies at this time, and they cannot comment on any injuries or trauma.
They say foul play is suspected, and they are currently conducting a death investigation. There is no information on any potential suspects."

So on the night they went missing no foul play was suspected based on info from family.
When the bodies were found o9it became obvious there was foul play.

So we're all almost correct.

in my opinion RL is a very known entity to LE locally and that it would be nearly impossible for them not to know he had a vehicle but they never chose to act on it until now. i think the timing of his, hours after a search in a near by grain bin interesting

:wagon: AnnD, and thank you for your informative post. I have leaned toward BG being at minimum familiar with the bridge. One of our posters, Nana, IIRC, found it challenging to find the bridge. That you live only 10 minutes from the bridge and hadn't heard of the Monon High Bridge until Abby and Libby were murdered pushes me further toward the opinion that BG is familiar with the bridge. I keep an open mind, however. Anything is possible. It is still possible that BG just happened upon the bridge that day. Doubtful, imo, but still possible.

I don't think I have seen anyone here suggest the possibility of BG using Stun or Taser to gain control of the girls? When I first saw the described gun shaped outline in his pocket I thought maybe that's what it was. AFAIK they are both legal in IN, though I guess purchase would leave trails. Thoughts?

Hi. It was discussed waaaay back and something that I thought was interesting. But that leaves you with one or both girls unconscious. Now if BG did use a tazer I would think, imo, he would have tazered only one and then get the other to help carry the unconscious girl. That allows both to be controlled at the same time and makes it easier to cross the creek.

Thank you so much for this! :) Now it's clearer...I think 😜

I don't live in Delphi so I may not be the best person to answer but the two times I've been there since the murders, it's been depressing. There are ribbons everywhere and all of the storefronts had the girls' photos up and their names on chalkboards on the sidewalks. They had roadside, electronic signs in numerous places around town that kept flashing: 'Seeking info on double homicide' so I'm sure the residents can't "get away"' from this. When my friend and I first went out to locate this bridge to lay flowers for the girls, we couldn't find it. There are no signs up around labeling where it is or advertising it. We drove around for almost 1.5 hours trying to use Google Maps to find it! It wasn't easy! In the middle of Delphi, they have a beautiful park called Canal Park with much more to see and do. This trail for the MHB is on the outskirts of town right next to the Hoosier Heartland Highway. I just can't imagine BG "stumbled upon it." Going out to that place requires consciousness and work.
