I don't live in Delphi so I may not be the best person to answer but the two times I've been there since the murders, it's been depressing. There are ribbons everywhere and all of the storefronts had the girls' photos up and their names on chalkboards on the sidewalks. They had roadside, electronic signs in numerous places around town that kept flashing: 'Seeking info on double homicide' so I'm sure the residents can't "get away"' from this. When my friend and I first went out to locate this bridge to lay flowers for the girls, we couldn't find it. There are no signs up around labeling where it is or advertising it. We drove around for almost 1.5 hours trying to use Google Maps to find it! It wasn't easy! In the middle of Delphi, they have a beautiful park called Canal Park with much more to see and do. This trail for the MHB is on the outskirts of town right next to the Hoosier Heartland Highway. I just can't imagine BG "stumbled upon it." Going out to that place requires consciousness and work.

However, having said that...once you know where the bridge is, it's super easy to get ina be out in no time flat. BG could have very well been on I-65 10-15 minutes after he left them.

They said something like it looks like it could be foul play. It struck me as strange at the time too. I never thought of hangings. It sure makes sense.

Sorry. I thought I had included the comment I was answering. My first time posting :blushing:

I think it would be incredibly difficult to hang two dead bodies. I know they were young girls, but we're talking about literally dead weight. IMO, there's no way they were hung.

Trying not to appear insensitive but deer hunters do this all the time.

That may be true, but we won't know with certainty until the details of the coroner's findings are made public as to cause and TOD.

And while that may be true, it should not be a reason to close that line of discourse, as we are speculating about just everything regarding this case. It is a valuable possibility to explore because it leads to other possible scenarios regarding whether one or both were alive for longer than is assumed.

So, the fact that we won't know shouldn't stop us from theorizing about it. We know very little facts and all will be revealed at some point anyway, yet here we are.

moo, of course.

Thanks, I. I'm a suburban woman. I know nothing about hunting. I still don't buy it though. It seems like it could be pretty time consuming. I think he did what he did and got the hell out of there!

IF the girls bodies were found in this manner, it would have been done while they were still alive, not after. IMO

DatelineFan, with all due respect, I have seen tons of suicide by hanging photos and a great deal of em still had feet on the ground.

I understand what your saying though.

I have known ppl years ago that would be able to pull a young tree down and tie "things" near the top and release it to stand straight again. Then come back & grab the tree and fetch what was placed at the top. Jmo

Also, as far as getting both girls to comply, I think it's much easier to do than many people realize. I've been in an abduction scenario. You think you will react one way, and in the moment it just doesn't go that way. So many grown women are abducted and murdered. Sometimes they go without putting up a fight. They freeze.

Anyway, I think it was as simple as him grabbing one, and threatening her life if the other one tried to run or yell, etc. I hate thinking about this, because I have a visceral reaction to the thought of the terror of the moment for both girls. But I don't think a taser or even pointing a gun at one would be necessary for the evil perp.

I have a family member who hung himself. I'm familiar with it. Of course anything is possible. I just don't think that's what happened.

Side note: I always learn something new here. I really appreciate the diversity of the posters on WS!

Then why were we speculating suicide?
I remember that statement way back in the first thread.

They say foul play is suspected, and they are currently conducting a death investigation. There is no information on any potential suspects.

Maybe is because english is not my first language but I found it strange that it was only suspected. Murder looks like murder. MOO

I am a definite freezer, I wouldn't be able to run to save my life, and I am also an open-mouth-but-no-sound-comes-out kind of gal. That thought alone terrifies me. :nerves:

Absolutely, I agree everyone is welcome to speculate or form opinions, but for me, I prefer to base my opinions on what officials are telling us. It's just how my mind processes information but everyone is different.

I am very sorry, DatelineFan.

I also found it strange that they needed an autopsy to identify the bodies since they were missing such a short time.

I have thought it odd that they didn't ID the girls the day they were found. Jmo

I hope with all my heart that you, nor anyone else has to experience anything like it. It stays with you forever.

That is the job of the Medical Examiner or Coroner. I've seen cases where a body or bodies are found with obvious gunshot wounds. The police usually decline to positively identify the victims or speculate on cause of death and refer the reporters to the ME or Coroner.

ETA It is standard where I live for all cases involving death at the hand of another, accidents or death without a physician willing to sign the death certificate become a coroner's case for autopsy.
