Yes but accredited labs is not the same as the FBI lab . "Accredited" indicates the FBI may outsource lab work from time to time because certain private labs meet their testing standards. That article does not state the FBI and their labs or other accredited labs were not involved in the Delphi case, only that Strand Diagnostics was not.

LE 101 was not to search his house or vehicle. They were not part of the CS. They needed probable cause to do so. The SW was prompted by additional "tips" and "information" that they likely did not have early on in the investigation. Things were "not adding up".

Not one, but two bodies found on a person's property should be enough for probable cause investigation in those early days.

The 5 week time lapse has always bothered me because of tampering or disappearance of evidence.

Ok I'm missing something here, what is the significance of which lab things were tested in?

the bodies were not found inside his house or vehicle. They were found quite a distance from both. Our constitution protects us . You have to have probable cause.

I think he enjoyed the risk of possibly being seen and probably got a thrill from that aspect and further solidifies my belief that he's not local and was not fearful of someone identifying him if they did see him. and he felt confident enough that he could still get away without getting caught, and so far he has. And just because I believe he's not loca means I just believe he doesn't live there in town . however I think he has some kind of link to Delphi either through his job or from long long ago.. such as maybe a deceased relative lived in the area and he used to visit there as a child or something like that.
My POI doesn't work because of a back injury. However his father was a cross country truck driver and I had the thought that maybe BG used to ride with him and became familiar with the Delphi area. The father died last April so maybe BG was on his way to visit grave in a close by State. Just speculating and hoping BG is reading this and gets nervous.

Niiiiiice !!!! It never once crossed my mind that the link could be as vague as him riding along with a father or uncle or relative who was a truck driver ! thank you very much for opening that door!!! that is great thinking and speculation!!

On the Trail: How the Delphi community is coping with murders of 2 girls

"NewsChannel 15’s Holly Campbell traveled to the small city in central Indiana to talk to police and those reminded of the horrible crime every day. In our special report “On the Trail” airing Thursday at 6 p.m., hear how the community is coping with the unsolved crime, and what steps investigators are taking to find the killer."

Yes, but again I'm coming back to the 5 weeks time lapse. It's too bad they couldn't find probable cause in some form earlier. After 5 weeks, you may not find too much. We don't even know if they thoroughly searched his outhouses when they were found.

it was 25 days from the time the girls were murdered to the time RL was locked up. I would not be surprised it LE went through everything he threw away during those 25 days, so his ability to dispose of something may have been hindered.

Pure speculation on my part but this is how I think it came down..there was an initial SW when the bodies were found and a thorough search of the property and outbuildings was undertaken the same day or the following day. Standard police procedure.

Then as the media coverage of the case began to spread, the reward growing, it caught the attention of SM about the same time RL was interviewed. The amount of wild and outrageous allegations that can be found on the internet is absolutely shocking. More and more people jump on the bankwagon, crowd-sourcing, Facebook sites encouraging the mass sending of tips. Of the 16000 that LE received, how from total strangers to Delphi point to just one specific person? I think if we knew, we'd be flabbergasted.

LE really had no alternative but to go back a second time. Tips can be submitted anonymously. If LE received even one "I overheard X in a pizza place when he was drunk confessing to the murders and he said he videotaped it" or "(use your imagination)" along with 1000s of others listing all the rumours floating around in the internet, LE actions and PC of the SW was justified, even though In the midst of all this LE insisted numerous times that he was not a suspect.

The advantage of going back a second time is LE has publicly let it be known they will be aware of any incriminating evidence that may be later planted. For all we know, they outfitted the entire 40 acres with monitoring devices.

I truly believe the real criminal is extremely dangerous and LE is aware of that. Perhaps RLs life was actually saved by gaining notoriety in regards to his probation violation and then publicly locking him up in jail. Maybe he does know critical information. Who knows, perhaps he's already been released and presently living in a safe place under a Witness Protection Program.

MOO

Appreciate your insight. Question though, from your experience how common/rare is it for someone to become "unhinged" as you said and make that jump to killing two girls? Or do you think he's killed before?

bbm
Pulling this from yesterday, and finally thinking it through, your question was not answered in any statistical draft by mtnlites, though he/she did provide a good retort. I maybe can help. Times of desperation such as this, and how frequent are they can possibly be likened to suicide, or the attempts at it. Not especially with men that return from battle, but many times the ones that staid behind and have insecurity among other veterans. Whether to prove to himself, or just too disgusted with life, IDK. But many won't turn the anger on themselves without police involvement. Suicide by cop. A percentage of that statistic maybe?

.
I have to agree. I found another arrestee in Midland, MI that fits the picture better than this guy, IMHO. I agree, I don't believe the dialect fits. This particular guy is 5'9", 140 lbs arrested 5-2-17 and is being "held" for another jurisdiction. Initials KML.

I found him using google Midland+mugshot+press

Good one, has the mustache and facial hair some here have described, similar to BG's.

jmo the white thing looks like a plastic bag handle you get from the supermarket... only god knows what happened to these precious girls and I pray the killer is found..another thing i noticed in the pictures is he walks like a older man maybe a grandpa ...jmo

I agree that the white thing looks like a grocery bag. In one of the frames if you zoom in there appears to be a knot in the handle. It really looks like he had many things stuffed in that jacket. The white bags, the obvious gun, and what I suspect is an iPad mini in an otterbox defender case below the gun. I suspect that Libby was not the only one who recorded his crime. I speculate that he recorded as well for reliving the activities much like many serial killers have done. It is just so frustrating that we have to speculate and speculate what these things might be when LE likely knows exactly what they are. So frustrating

Maybe we will get some clues from the news story tonight or at least some hope that this will be solved soon.

 I got a little frustrated because yeah, I thought we had a new photo of BG from LE to get our binoculars out and analyse the poop out of when it was one we'd already done that to, well some of us had before getting totally sideswiped by the other ones they released.

Fwiw I'm totally creeped out by how much BG looks like my late husband in that pic, he doesn't at all in the other ones but in that pic *shivers*

On that note, May the 4th be with you and may TODAY BE THE DAY.

I must be going blind, but do you have a link to where that picture appeared in the media thread at the beginning of the case? I thought I must have missed it somehow because I had downloaded every picture they released on the days I saw them. I went back to the media thread, and the first one I found was the one where he was taking a step with his right foot/leg., and that is the same one that was on the billboards. I'm not doubting what you're saying, but if I did miss something as important as that it makes me wonder what else I may have missed. MOO, etc.

TIA

Sorry to belabor this point but I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this scenario:

Imagine that BG does use some idevice to photo or video capture his crimes to relive repeatedly. Arguably he could reason that he should not carry a cell phone due to potential identification by cell tower pings. So he uses a non-cellular iPad, as I suggested in previous posts. Now if he returns home and connects to wifi the video will upload to iCloud or google photos if he has those applications and if they are active. The documents will be time stamped and geographically stamped. Is it a completely dumb idea to wonder if LE could cast a broad electronic search of the cloud space to see what media files are stamped on a particular date, say Feb 14, and a particular location like Delphi.

Barring all of my speculations, warrant and privacy issues would it be logistically possible to do this?

Again, I know I am offering zero to this investigation but I am very glad I found this group of people at Websleuths who have a passionate common interest of putting this monster away for what he did to Abby and Libby. It is cathartic to read everyone's ideas and to be able to present my own. Thanks
