Because they weren't picked up between 3:00 and 3:30,but they were supposed to be, I think that's the intent of the wording.

So does that mean someone was actually waiting at the pick up spot at 3 and the girls didn't show or that the girls showed but the pick up didn't or that neither girls nor pick up showed?

Does anyone know if the lady who was on the bridge that afternoon is a local Delphi resident? She has been incredibly tight lipped as have all Delphi residents. I'm so curious to know what she actually saw and any instincts she felt that afternoon.

I wonder if she's been able to tell LE if BG was one of those men she spotted.

It seems unusual to me that if a killer is on the loose, we are hearing barely any thoughts and opinions from locals.

It could be as simple as this: when I drop our daughters off somewhere I often say "one of us will come and pick you up" meaning which ever person (either me or my husband) is available at the time. And if we had older kids who drive that "one of us" statement might include them too.

So if something were to happen in our family, LE would also say that their mother dropped them off but a family member was supposed to pick them up.

Could be something more cryptic but to me that is all it ever meant. imo, of course.
So in Libby and Abby case did someone turn up at 3-3.30 to pick them up or not? Because that wouldn't be "supposed to pick them up" but would be "arrived to pick them up". You would either have turned up or not.
In fact "supposed to have" probably means "didn't" in this case, I suspect.

I have gone back and deleted the post you quoted because I was misunderstanding what was trying to be ascertained.

If I remember correctly, Shiresleuth, someone did arrive and the girls were not there and that person started calling around and I believe started looking for them? Not sure anymore, would have to go back to early reports and threads.

I wonder if the person that was supposed to pick them up was a minor and that is why we have no name?

Does anyone know if there were any large professional conferences that occurred the weekend before the murders in the Indianapolis area? Where would I find out such information? Also when did the fire that killed the 4 children occur? JMO, but I am not sure there isn't a link.

On the topic of tips and the number left remaining, quite likely they prioritize them looking for observations of any of these behaviours, as opposed to a tip, say of noticing a stranger somewhere who bears a resemblance to the blurry photo.

"The FBI is asking everyone to take a closer look at the people around you and report any major changes in behavior or appearance over the last several weeks, anything that seems strange, so they can check it out.

"If a person started abusing drugs, if a sleep pattern has changed - any indication like that taken on its own doesn't mean a thing, but when it's put into a broader context of timing and location, maybe," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Greg Massa.

The FBI is looking for anyone who:

Changed their appearance; cut their hair or drastically changed the way they dress
Started abusing drugs or alcohol when they wouldn't have beforehand
Has become anxious or irritable
Has followed this case and what the media is releasing with a sense that is "not normal"
Has a different sleep pattern now
Has been having ongoing conversations about where they were on Feb. 13
Traveled unexpectedly after Feb. 13
Canceled an appointment around Feb. 13
Called in sick to work or suddenly skipped a social engagement"

I'm trying to pin down some of the times and the actual meaning of supposed to have picked them up at 3-3.30. That's loose regarding the time as well as whether anyone turned up at all at that time.

I am still trying to figure out how to post news article links, but there is a story out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota in regard to their now former fire chief that is interesting. JMO but might be worth a read.

I'm reading an article about it now. Does he have some sort of tie to Delphi?

It's a downer, but I keep wondering if any killers/criminals will be drawn to CrimeCon 2017 in Indy.

You mean CME? I would not blame her for keeping a low profile but she was walking the trails on her own and saw another couple and a man in black IIRC. She is seemingly the only witness but who are the other couple and man in black? Have they been traced?

I don't know her initials, but that's probably her. Yes, I'd like to know if any of the people she saw that day have actually come forward or been identified. I don't blame her either for keeping a low profile. However, as a whole, Delphi has been incredibly quiet.

Not that I've heard of honestly. Nevermind, probably just got carried away hunting for something new. I will say that the search warrant is sealed, the local police have been shut out of the investigation and the residents of the city have been told absolutely nothing. Again, probably zero connection to Abbey and Libby and more likely an embezzlement of funds sort of thing. Back to pictures of BG I guess.

Didn't Mike Patty say there were some text messages that had not been picked up or read?

Perhaps the family member that was supposed to pick them up was not going to be there on time and was trying to contact them. Maybe the girls not answering back right away was not normally that big a deal but being late couldn't be helped. So perhaps when the girls didn't respond right away the family member figured they would get the message eventually and carried on.

Maybe when the family member arrived at the later time and the girls were not there, that's when the alarm bells went off and the search started.

It could be then that LE and the families didn't want people to blame the person for not being on time and so did not disclose the name?

All the above is some serious speculation by me, but it would kind of answer some questions about that time frame.

ETA: removed error about cell phone reception maybe not being good. Two WSers were there and said it was fine.

I agree. It seems there was a lot going on between 02.00 p.m. and 03.30 p.m. yet nobody saw anything except this lady CME.
Could this definitely mean the girls were abducted and murdered between these times?

Lots of possible scenarios... one is the pickup person went to Lafayette for some reason. "I'll pick you up between 3:00 and 3:30 on my way back but I'll text you just before I get there." Then that text msg was unacknowledged. MOO

That could certainly fit the "supposed to be" angle imo.

Can anyone refresh my memory about what date an officer was flagged down with a supposed tip? TIA

That can be seen in the scanner thread.

I see many are speculating about poor cell reception. Early on in the threads both #1nana and Illinoismissing I believe went out there and walked the bridge and trails and said that the cell reception was actually very good. So I think we can put that to rest moo

And the girls didn't show up but the pick up did.. Yep that would work too.
