I don't know for sure. But I would relish a law that says families with children cannot live in such pedophile playgrounds and landlords cannot rent o them.

Chris is right. I'm not sure having these buggers in one location is that helpful. many of them have cars. It's more about making life very difficult for them so that others do not want to follow their paths. It probably doesn't work - it probably doesn't deter one of these creatures. But I'm okay with having them as uncomfortable as possible, and in an easy location for police to go to, parole agents to visits, so they don't have to drive all over town. I just don't think families should be anywhere near them.

But let's be somewhat reasonable with these laws. A 20 year old who has sex with a 17 year old girlfriend is not the same as grampa molesting a little kid. Such a guy should not be subject to the same restrictions.

BBM. Let me preface this post by saying I am a former licensed realtor and let my license lapse after becoming a single parent due to the weekend and evening hours.

I don't think legally a law such as that can be implemented. I think once someone has served their time, they've served their time just like they have for any crime. Sex offender registries, crime registries are available for those who chose to utilize them.

We can only go so far to protect people. It is up to the buyer or renter to do their own homework on neighborhoods, crime statistics etc.

ETA: It is against federal fair housing laws to discriminate against families with children/familial status. A landlord or owner refusing to sell to or rent to a family with children would find themselves facing a law suit. Except in communities designated 55 and over only.

I don't know but it would be a good idea to try to find out about the person's background if he's invited to live with an ailing grandparent and babysit your most precious treasure.

Agreed, BUT, how many people actually run the people in their lives for priors?

Just saw this in our local news saying that MP WAS a sex offender.

http://www.goblueridge.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14218

"Sheriff Len Hagaman said that Michael Plumadore was in Watauga and registered as a sex offender on November 29th of 2007 when found by a sex offender check, and found him to be a fugitive from Indiana at that time."

ETA: This is in Boone, North Carolina. One of the safest and most beautiful places to live...can't believe this <I will modsnip myself> lived here.

Am I the only one who sees a bit of contradiction in these two statements?

LOL

"I warned 'em! He had shifty eyes! I knowed from the second I set eyes on him that he was bad! Course I never thought he was a killer..."

I came across a possible nickname for a Michael Plumadore. Has anyone read about this in any article or from other reliable info?
I'm just curious.

The thing with Grandma and with MP...both were giving scenarios that put the little girl at fault, more or less...for "sleepwalking" for wandering, for sleeping in a chair, none of which, if even true, had anything to do with her horrible death...

I wish that Nancy Grace could get Grandma on the phone now and let the woman try to defend the man who murdered and dismembered her grandchild!

Did anyone in her immediate family know he was a convicted felon? I think that this is a million dollar question.

Who exactly would be responsible for finding that out before letting him babysit?

LOL, Chris-see post 427. I would say great minds think alike, but I suspect yours is greater than mine.

I am with you. No offense to Ms Hair, but this doesnt ring very true to me. Perhaps she wished she had said it aloud...it sounds a little hollywood to me like "I knew it was him...I could tell the way his eyes were set too close together..."

You got it Believe that's exactly what I meant and thought!

By the way I'm so jealous, you ask a question and get 25 answers, I ask one and Cubby and ClareNC has to quote it to help me get an answer...wonder what the difference is???? :waitasec: LOL

<<<respectfully snipped for space>>>
Kids do need technology, it it needs to be watched carefully. We do need computers for school, etc. also, cell phones , etc are good for things as well but things need to watched more closely.

Facebook does have age requirements but I understand how difficult it is for FB to enforce them. I have "narc-ed out" many youngsters under 13. Yeah, I am an enforcer . . .

So Mom's name is Souder? Any relation to Jamie Souder? Wasn't that case in IA where mom had been living? It just caught my eye and may have ZERO significance.

A registered sex offender, now charged with the unspeakable murder and dismemberment of a 9-year old, girl, has a history in Watauga County, North Carolina

I dont think this is fair of NG. JMVHO, unless she has inside info that Grandma willfully put her granddaughter in harms way.

FWIW, I know there are articles indicating Grandma is defending him still...she has to be in complete shock. Look what she just learned about her grand daughter. Look at the manner in which this child died and by whose hands. Clearly LE didnt clue at least Grandma in on the investigation....I think she is trying to cling to sanity. I would be. And perhaps my fallback position would be that I dont believe he would ever hurt her.

I can't imagine being in that situation right now. No doubt everyone in the family is devastated. We can only make assumptions with some of the information that we have. I don't know what was known about Michael. I do know that one thing I did feel that was odd...was that grandma's emotions were flat when speaking of Aliahna and very agitated when speaking of Michael on NG last night. I guess it bothered me because I was expecting more emotion concerning Aliahna.

JMO. But I watched NG last night...and it just seemed like the emotions should have been overflowing for the missing nine year old angel...not Michael. Again, jmo.

I would like to know what plans did the family have for Christmas? Christmas Eve? How long were the girls expected to stay with Michael? How long had they already stayed with him? Did the family use him as a babysitter a lot? Is that why they moved...? so they could have a caretaker not only for dying grandpa but also so that they could have a fulltime babysitter?
