On May 11, 2009, the State filed a two-count information charging Yang with murder and invasion of privacy. Yang was convicted on both counts following a jury trial. The trial court subsequently sentenced Yang to sixty years for the murder conviction and a concurrent, one-year term for the invasion of privacy conviction.
