Press Release about our missing resident Britney Gard.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the missing person case of Britney Gard and the incident that surrounds it. Three fire investigators were summoned to the scene and are still compiling evidence and information from the scene on county road 600 North in Putnam County Indiana. Fire investigators advise that they believe the fire that started in the house is suspicious in nature. Full findings will be relayed to criminal investigators as the fire investigation continues.

The night of the fire, a drone was used to assist search efforts in the area throughout the evening. The Putnam County Community Emergency Response Team continued search efforts in the area the following day. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources was contacted regarding searches of the pond on the property. Britney Gard could not be located.

Our detectives, along with other law enforcement agency detectives continue to use technology based investigative tools and programs to attempt to locate Britney Gard. Any information about her current location is needed. We ask that if anyone has information about the current location of Britney, please contact Putnam County Emergency Operations Center and 911 Dispatch at 765-653-5115 extension zero. Where is Britney Gard? The 46-year-old mother of two is considered missing and endangered.

*****
Bowen (her sister) describes Gard as a loving mother and her kids' biggest cheerleader. So when she didn’t show up at her daughter’s volleyball game on Wednesday, the family knew something was wrong.

“She was supposed to be at her daughter's volleyball game. Wasn’t there. And then there’s a fire. Her car is at home, her purse is at home. She’s nowhere to be found, and the house is on fire. It makes no sense," Bowen said.

I'm worried about her. The only court activity other than an ancient family court issue is current debt, likely for her kids education. No DOB in the court records but the address shown is the address of the house fire Bainbridge. She has current default judgements totaling a bit less than $15,000 and a very recent subpeona related to one of those collection cases.

Owned by Britney Gard
Parcel Number 67-06-10-300-032.001-004
Duplicate Number 6805
Tax Id Number 010-505101-00
Name/Address Gard Britney S

It looks to be on a rural lot, so there may not be much (or any) Ring-type camera footage from neighbors.

Very worrying, as if someone put up the fire to destroy evidence.
Family has set up a FB page for her search

Thanks. Timewise, it looks like she bought the home when she moved here from Illinois a little over 10 years ago (found her there, through an old minor speeding ticket). The only reason she might had had a ring camera as though rural, the home is about a mile and a half from a popular lake, that likely has a fair bit of traffic in the summer months.

From the article and bbm

Authorities say the front door of Gard's home showed no signs of forced entry, though several personal items inside the house appeared to have been disturbed. The family's two dogs were found unharmed in the backyard.

She didn't show up at daughter's game. That leads me to believe daughter transported to the game with someone else, or - she drove herself. Did she leave for the game from Britney's house? Any word on (or from) a father to the children?

The property is unfenced based on the realty company photos, unless she had a fence or "invisible fence" put in for the dogs after she bought the place (which for other than a small yard is pricey.) So it seems odd in my opinion, that the dogs would be outside, unless released there for their safety when the fire broke out.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has been actively working with Ms. Gard's family in attempts to make contact with her. Several local, state, and federal investigative assets have been utilized in further efforts to find Ms. Gard. Recently the Civil Air Patrol worked closely with our all-volunteer Putnam County Community Emergency Response Team to properly search the standing crop fields and wooded areas surrounding Britney Gard’s home, including the search of approximately 75 acres of standing corn row by row. Conservation Officers from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources have also worked diligently conducting thorough searches of the ponds at the residence and in the surrounding area. Additionally, several drones from local emergency organizations and police departments have been utilized in the search of the area since the night of the fire.

Ugh. Possible home invasion? Do we know where (if) she is employed?

"The house fire is suspicious...adding that the team is 'awaiting forensic results and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby properties."

I don't see a woman living in an isolated home opening the door to a stranger, and there were no signs of forced entry so I'm not thinking home invation. Plus her purse was left. As to the employer question - if you drill down into the last Order for the recent default judgemnt for which she was just subpeoned to appear in Dec.( I posted at 11:46 yesterday morning here) there is evidence in the interoggetaries that her wages were likely to be garnished by the USPS as the Defendent Employer. Although she and another party are named in the judgement, only her name appears on the interrogatorries with regards to the possible garnishment.

Thank you @GraceG! So, no forced entry, purse remained behind. Assuming she locks her doors, then she let the person (or persons) in. Could be someone she knows, or someone posing a delivery, or even posing as LE.

I'm a bit concerned about possible self-harm. Hoping she's safe.
