Greenwood police searching for missing 41-year-old man

Greenwood Police Department detectives are searching for Christopher Jones, last seen wearing a red Ohio State sweatshirt and black sweatpants, the department said in a tweet.

Jones was last seen in the 600 block of Park Drive.

Two felons caught with stolen items, arrested
Two Greenwood men were arrested after police found them walking the streets in the middle of the night carrying several bags and cases filled with stolen items, including a gun, ammunition and a laptop.

Christopher C. Jones, 41, 601 Park Drive, was arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. Justin Lee Charlton, 24, 342 Watson Lane, was arrested on the same charge, plus a charge of carrying a handgun without a license.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, an officer spotted Jones and Charlton — both wearing dark colored clothing — crossing Broadway Street carrying several items each, police said.

Police stopped them, the report said.

Jones and Charlton told police they were going through trash “scrapping,” and said they found the items they were carrying with them in the trash, but would not say where exactly, according to the report.

Inside a purse-type bag, police found a pair of wide-angle binoculars, and inside a plastic case, they found an emergency car repair kit and emergency repair tools, according to the report.

At 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, police located the owner of the laptop. He said all of the items found on Jones and Charlton were stolen from his locked car in the 100 block of Washington Street.

Jones was last seen wearing a red Ohio State sweatshirt and black sweat pants.

Police say he could possibly be in danger.
