IN - Couple charged with abandonment of adopted child after legally changing her age, Sept 2019 #2 *not guilty*

  • #221
So what will happen to Michael’s primary care doctor who wrote the medical form for the court that w

Yes. But for the defense to file the first to bring attention to it baffling. I understand why the prosecution is—but the defense brought it up asking the prosecutors “what do you know”

Sorry I'm late to this development. Are the Barnett's trying to suggest Natalia's plan was to get paid for a movie deal? Or are they worried that she might be receiving offers that they aren't getting. Are they in touch with reality at all?

If they have the DePaul’s paperwork will they need them as witnesses?
I think they would need the authors of the paperwork (the doctors, teachers, therapists). As for the people themselves, they could have them on standby as “perjury” witnesses. I’m not using correct legal terminology, but basically if either side thinks a witness has lied, they can introduce a new witness to speak to that. Obviously they wouldn’t have that witness on a list ahead of time, because they “didn’t anticipate Mr/Ms X was going to lie.”

I’m interested in their photos showing NB with missing baby teeth. They are the only ones who can pay foundation for those photos. (When and who).

The medical records wouldn’t come in through them.

Impeachment witnesses is probably the term you’re looking for!

Yes I think that’s it. Maybe I watch too much tv, But I think I saw that before. Where an unlisted witness gets to testify

Natalia's medical records seem to be out there for everyone to see or hear about. I have a question about the legality of that. If the Barnett's were managing her SSI checks after she was declared an adult, did they have power of attorney or something like that, that would allow them to make medical and financial decisions for her? As her legal parents before she suddenly turned 22 would her medical files have been something they had a right to? Parents usually are incharge of their kids health until at least 18. When you are talking about a nine year old parents have records so they can send kids to school, or know when they had what vaccination, or if they are allergic to something. Parents would be incharge of making appointments. Could the Barnett's slander and use medical records that should be private against her publically? What are parents allowed to do with their children's medical records?

The DuPaul’s were actually the ones who leaked her records. In order to defend her. They got them because they were trying to adopt her.

But don’t forget the Dr McLaren letter, leaked by Barnetts.

HIPAA applies to medical professionals, they can't release patients medical records. There is no law that patients or their relatives can't release medical records.

What bothers me about the Dr McLaren letter is that it was written about a patient (NB) who was an adult (cause they had changed her birthdate) at the time it was written, and given to her parents (presumably, because it had dads name on it and was released by a “friend” of the parents). I know if I called my adult child’s dr and wanted a letter about them, the dr could not do it without my child’s permission. So did dr McLaren have NB’s permission ? Was this letter part of the previous court case? If so, was it under seal? In the current case there are safeguards on NB’s private health information. How the heck is this McLaren letter public?

Another crazy thing is the speech that Kristine gave earlier in the year at some kind of gifted child convention. About 13 minutes in she claims that her nephew was born prematurely, in a coma, hypoxic and at death's door (her sister was also in a coma and unaware that she had had the baby). They were waiting for a helicopter to life flight him to another hospital to save his life "there were no tubes, no doctors". A nurse "looked her in the eye" and told her "strange things happen when I leave the room." She says this nurse left the room and Kristine picked up her dying nephew and cradled him annnnnd he was cured and didn't need to be life flighted after that. (Dawn found this gem btw)

Also in Kristine's book she claims that their middle son was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy as an infant. read her account of his diagnosis here The Spark
fishy AF. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Fact Sheet | National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke RSD is a chronic pain condition resulting from an injury/nerve damage and I haven't found anything about it being fatal other than by being associated with opioid abuse.

(CRPS is the current preferred name for RSD btw.)

Updates from mycase indiana... The state filed to bring in an out of state witness from Boston Children's Hospital and also from Inside Edition. MB's lawyer responded by filing subpoenas to get Natalia, Det. Davenport and Sheriff Goldsmith to testify. Edit: screenshots in reverse order oops.

@Meloni88

wow no, I hadn’t seen it, thanks! I need to go back to get all caught up but this is just (moo) preposterous and over the top melodrama.

IOW: I call shenanigans.

By her reports, she is a walking Christ. It’s a wonder she doesn’t have medical schools, research facilities, and Bill Gates clamoring to replicate her healing powers.

Big eye roll

It makes no sense, anyone who has had a baby with medical issues or stayed in the NICU would know it was BS. She sounds like a fantasist child telling an ill-thought-out story. I don't know why she hasn't been outed as a fraud before now with all this out there. This was supposedly an audience of highly intelligent people, would love to have seen their faces as she told this fish story about her nephew. And then there's Jacob being diagnosed with the mildest form of autism (Asperger's) but she's told by literally every expert that he wouldn't ever speak and they were all "baffled" when he started to talk. And middle child diagnosed with something never diagnosed in babies and they're told he would probably die??

I think it's awesome the state are bringing in a witness from Boston Children's! It's the #1 ranked paediatric hospital in America (probably the world), the one affiliated with Harvard Medical School. It's an hour or so from New Hampshire so I'm assuming that's where the first family took her for assessments. Or they just wanted to bring in a doctor from the best hospital to give their verdict on her age idk. Either way... what are the Barnetts' lawyers going to say to counter the testimony of a doctor from the most prestigious children's hospital in the country? "bUT shE hAd PuBes".

getting back to her claim that the middle son was diagnosed with this in infancy is just a total crock. This disease is so rare and so complex that many other diseases must be ruled out first.

of course picking a rare disease almost guaranteed she would never be questioned by anyone about the validity of his illness/treatment. How convenient.

Anyway, I guess her son is lucky his symptoms didn’t include early puberty. ;)

I wonder if anyone ever called her out over the years on her bs over Jacob? But the middle child? I’m sure she was counting on people just having blind faith in her. Because: who would make up such a big lie?

MOO-she is textbook delusional, and it’s sick.

As they say "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing." She found this rare illness that's something to do with the autonomic nervous system, she knows that the ANS controls the lungs and heart rate and other vital organ systems so she assumes if someone has RSD/CRPS then those organ systems are at risk and they could die from it. But that's not what this disorder is, it's not a fatal disease.

I did earlier but it probably needs more work now due to new info we have. I will post it and anyone feel free to cut, paste, add and edit:

Possible Timeline:

9-4-2003 birth certificate date entry for Natalia's birth.

2008 - child is brought here from Ukraine through an adoption process.

2010- Endocrinologist estimates her age as @ 8 years old.

May 2010- child comes to the Barrett's. According to the birth certificate she would be almost 7. Sometimes internationally adopted kids are made to appear a year younger in paperwork. So if that happened she might have been almost 9. According to the Barrett's she would've been 20 year old. PHOTOS SHOULD BE INSERTED HERE.

Nov. 2010 - child is officially adopted by the Barrett's. This is months after that first bath where they claim they saw she had full pubic hair and was developed at supposedly age 6. So they went through with it anyhow.

Dec. 2010 - here she is supposed to be 7 per her birth certificate. They say she's 21 here. PHOTOS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE INSERTED HERE.

2012 - skeletal survey shows child's age to be 11. (This matches with the first doctor’s finding)

6-12-2012 - Barnetts legally change the child's age to 22 in a probate court process. EVIDENCE THEY USED FROM HER EMERGENCY PETITION SHOUOD BE ADDED HERE.

Sept. 2012 - Here she is supposed to be 9 per her born certificate. The Barrett's say she was 23 here. They haven't yet left her in this photo. They have changed her age and her clothing. PHOTO OF HER SITTING ON COUCH WITH SCARF SHOULD BE INSERTED HERE.

2013 - 4-9-13 The Spark memoir is published. (There is apparently no mention of the adopted daughter in the book but I have no idea what time range it spans). Mother immediately starts an intensive publicity tour.

7-2013 - the Barnetts rent an apartment in Laffayette for the child and leave her there. They move to Canada the same month. They pay the rent on the place but it's not sure for how long.

They claim alternatively for a year and for a few months. CITE. Child is evicted in ADD date for non payment of rent in the amount of $750.00.

2013 - Natalia hangs out with adults at a rehab center. She seems lost. She disappears at a certain point.

August 2013- the Manns take in Natalia.

2014 - February 2014, the Barrett's divorce.

2016 - 2-28-16, kid moves out of the county.

2016- @3-13-16, the Manns apply to be her guardian.

The Barnetts object to the petition citing an age issue. They claim she is an adult.

2018 - the Manns lose the guardianship case and Natalia's age as an adult is not overturned by the original court despite a request of some sort.

Mother claims Ukrainian adopted daughter, 9, was 22 and had dwarfism | Daily Mail Online
I feel like the judge, and court need to be in investigated too. This case stinks to high heaven.
MOO.

That question makes a lot of sense, as the Barnetts have clearly been going out of their way to present everything as dramatically as possible to attract the attention of Hollywood.
