A man was being held for questioning after police called off a search for a missing Whitley County woman Wednesday.


Sheriff’s deputies said Debra Houser, 49, who lives at 4xxx Old Trail Road, Columbia City, was reported missing just before noon. She was still missing Wednesday night.

The Whitley County Sheriff's Department is looking for anyone who might have seen this pickup truck, a tan 1993 Chevrolet driving on Whitley County roads or parked off the roadway in western Whitley County, anytime between 8:30 and 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. The driver and owner of the truck, Rodney Houser, has been charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Deb Houser. Anyone who wishes to join in the search for Deb Houser should meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Richland Township Fire Station in Larwill.

Police believe he dumped her body somewhere in western Whitley County.

After three days of searching, the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office asked for the community’s help Saturday morning.

DNA tests have confirmed the body found in rural Whitley County this month is that of missing Columbia City resident Debra Houser, the Whitley County coroner said in a statement.

44-year-old Rodney Houser was sentenced Monday afternoon to 65 years in prison as a result of his conviction of murder last month...

Houser will be up for parole in 2042.
