GUILTY IN - Grandfather charged in cruise ship death of toddler Chloe Wiegand #9 *NO JAIL*

  • #541
Kimberly, a lawyer, is now dating Dustin Wilson, an air-conditioning repairman and father of three with a criminal record that includes felony burglary and breaking and entering charges, according to the Daily Mail reported.

IF this is true then maybe the mother is trying to work through her trauma and might not be making the best choices right now.

The tragedy of losing a child can take a terrible toll on the parents so it’s no surprise that the Wiegands divorced. IIRC they have another child who also has to deal with his sister’s death and now with his parents’ divorce. Hopefully this family will eventually start to heal. JMO

No surprise. The death of a child is tough on a marriage.
Within that article above is a link to the Daily Mail with their typical sordid headline:
“Marriage woe for lawyer mom whose toddler fell to death off cruise…as she debuts raunchy new look and bad boy lover
Marriage woe for lawyer mom whose toddler fell to death off cruise

It’s behind a paywall and the NY Post article likely includes most of the detail anyway. But I’d subscribe to the Daily Mail if they did an article on what Chloe’s moronic and irresponsible grandfather is doing now!

And I did see the slimy lawyer for the Weigands on this case, speaking about the other recent case on the Disney cruise, where they claim the same thing that they thought that there was a window and the little girl fell overboard, luckily that case had a happy ending and the father Jumped in and rescued her, and then the crew rescued them.

Is this lawsuit still wending its way through the courts? Or has she dropped it?

I don't feel sorry for the life these parents are living. The mother especially. They behaved VERY poorly after this tragedy and the Karma they are getting now is well deserved IMO. Cruel as that may sound. The 'justice' for Chloe was NOT their focus.

I have wondered if the "step grandfather" is still married to the grandmother. IIRC, the "grandfather" hadn't been in the picture that long and that he had recently married the grandmother of the victim. I just know that I would not have stayed married to this guy. I have always felt that he, for whatever reason, intentionally put this child in danger.

JMO.
I'll NEVER understand the lack of anger Chloe's parents felt toward him.

RC settled around 12/27/23, weeks before charges reversed on appeal were slated for trial in Jan 2024.

Thank you @Seattle1! It’s frustrating they had to since they had a strong defense but I’m sure thei PR people said it was best. I hope Grandpa didn’t get a penny of it.

I bet the father did - and that that was a huge cause of the rift and divorce.

IMO I suspect the lack of anger was a carefully calculated tactic by the parents to minimize the grandfather’s responsibility for Chloe’s death. Juries often assign a percentage that each party’s actions contributed to the death which in turn helps determine the amount of damages the defendant must pay if found guilty.

IOW more responsibility on RL’s part equals more money to the family. Thus, the family played down grandfather’s stupid, careless behavior in order to make RL the only villain. JMO the focus was on getting a big settlement from the cruise line.
