The way that she executed this makes me believe that it was above her skill level and she was assisted,” Beau (her father) said. “She left the house without a lot of items that she would need to do this on her own… someone is assisting her because she does not have the resources.”

The family fears an individual outside of her immediate social circle may have used social media to influence her or coordinate her departure. Haley reportedly left the house on foot, and her cell phone was last pinged at the family’s residence, though it has not been located.

Physical: Biracial (light brown skin), 5’4″ tall, approximately 120 lbs.
Hair: Last seen with long braids; her natural hair is curly.
Clothing:Last seen wearing a white blouse, grey jeans, and a black puffer jacket.
Belongings: She was carrying a pink Vera Bradley duffle bag.

I moved to Chicago from Indianapolis when I got married. Fishers is an upscale area overall, and that particular subdivision is considered somewhat "luxury" homes ($500,00 - $800,000 in a city where the median home price is low 200,000s). A very safe area overall when I lived there so I can see her father worried it was an "outside influence" that helped her in leaving. The Fishers Police have been doing updates - no new news but here is their link. Log into Facebook

IMO, family members are posting they think she left between 3-4am that morning. Seems very much planned and their best option is to get all of her SM accounts, maybe even hire someone who knows how to dig. IMO.

From those of you who have followed these kinds of cases for some time, is it more likely her running away with an unapproved bf, someone nefariously recruiting her for SW, or just a basic runaway thing? Or does it just completely vary?

I could not find any SM, I wonder if she has deleted them

My granddaughters say that most of their frirends (16-17 age range) do NOT use their real names on social media.

they most likely have a jumble of their name, initials, etc. for example if my name is sarah brookes id probably use sb_rooks or something similar.

Yes, all of the above.

There's also online luring using the ruse of becoming a famous model.

Example:

"Ottawa police say more victims have come forward since the arrest of an Ottawa man accused of luring young girls under the guise of potential modelling jobs, only to have those “jobs” turn into requests for sexual favours."

It could be any of these, I would hate to think or treat a missing teen as " a runaway" when it could be something even more serious. IMO

Yes, so scary. Hoping for good news, but the thought of the "modeling jobs" makes my blood run cold.
We've seen this before, and very often the news is not good.
Positive thoughts for her and for those who love her.

It seems to never stop.

She left the house with a duffle bag (upthread), and without her phone (pinging at home: upthread).

That's consistent with online groomers who convince teen girls that they will be famous models, and will be provided with everything they need - including a nicer phone - as soon as they leave their phone, home and family behind. Runaways would take their phone so they can remain in contact with friends.

~ in my humble opinion ~

More than a week after 17-year-old Hailey Paige Buzbee vanished from her Fishers home, her family is not slowing down. Instead, they are mobilizing what they call an “army” of community support, specialized experts, and local businesses to bring the Hamilton Southeastern student home.

*****
From local businesses funding billboards and vehicle wraps to volunteer groups hanging flyers across state lines, the effort to find Hailey has expanded far beyond Fishers.

*****
The technical side of the search remains centered on Hailey’s digital life. While her phone was initially pinged at the family’s residence, it has still not been recovered. Beau confirmed that investigators and digital experts are currently scouring apps, social media accounts, and other devices for any trail. “We’re hoping that the experts with a lot more capability than we do are able to find something that’s going to help us,” he noted.

There is a @find.haileybuzbee TikTok
Maybe someone can bring it here - I keep certain things on different devices and don't want TT on my laptop.

I will include a blurb from one of their posts in the 'more' section
Our Hailey is still missing. We believe she did not act alone and is in a dangerous situation.
....
They are thanking #antipredatorproject and #silverliningofhope
...
Over 10k flyers have been distributed by my family with many more being printed and posted by caring people across the state and country. Many companies have reduced the cost or offered for free.

Wagner Commercial Framing is displaying Hailey's flyer in their transportation vehicles. Lamar Advertising will be running the flyer on their billboards for no charge.
