GUILTY In - Halee Rathgeber, 20, Fatally Shot, Warrick County, 24 April 2017 *arrest*

My daughter also works at a Texas Roadhouse. She is 21 and also closes on Friday and Saturday nights. As a paranoid mom I was scared to see Halee post to Twitter about closing the restaurant and living alone!!! Too much information!!!! I'd freak on my daughter if she shared stuff like that. RIP Sweet girl. I'm so sorry someone thought that they had the right to take your life.😟

They lost five people they loved in the last three months.

eta:could've been a cyclist
WHAT? I didn't see that!! How tragic!

Another thought.... I wonder if there are surveillance cameras in the soccer complex parking lot.
From Street View I didn't see any.

Wonder how someone saw her there at 6:45 this morning? A little too lonesome for jogging.
Someone driving by likely saw her. There is a stop sign just south of the parking lot where the road intersects and east/west road.

A runner? Or just someone driving by who works early.

IMO, it's more likely someone driving by because I've been looking around the area on Google maps and it's pretty isolated. I can understand why someone would choose it as a dump site but not that specific location. Most of the area looks pretty rural so why not dispose of her body in a field rather than a fenced-in parking lot?

IMO, the location has some significance to the killer. I hope LE will be able to determine the initial crime scene. If she was murdered at home, why move the body (risking detection)? Was she abducted from her home late Sunday night/early Monday morning?

I agree. There are some residences further W on 475 W. Likely someone from one of them was driving to work. United Steelworkers is N on Red Brush Rd and a sewer plant is to the S. Other than that, I don't see much in the area. Certainly nothing within walking distance.

The key to this probably will have everything to do with where her car is located and/or where her phone is or where she went with it.

The World.Com Golf Tour had a tournament in Newburgh over the weekend so there would have been people from outside the area around - something to keep in mind.

BBM You're right. Maybe Halee was in Newburgh visiting her friends Sunday night. She may have been accosted on the way to her car. Wonder if her cell phone was still on her.

I wonder if she's on Tinder or something. First date gone wrong? However, I think her girlfriends would know if she had a date.

I'm thinking she may have been in Newburgh late at night to comfort her friend who lost her baby. After the funeral, the death seems more final and is more difficult to deal with.

Right now, I'm leaning toward this being a stranger abduction and murder. There seem to be so many of them lately. :(

I wanted to add to this. From Street View I posted a screen shot of the gates that block entry for cars - it showed a pad lock keeping the gate closed. It isn't known if the gates were open or not but if they were not, she would have to have been dragged to wherever she was found in the parking lot. That would mean a vehicle was stopped near the gates for a period of time.

Yes stranger was my first thought. I'm deep in the rabbit holes now. I don't know when I will sleep!

I was thinking she may have been dropped over the fence or gate. LE hasn't specified yet exactly where in the parking lot she was found. It may have been just within the perimeter of the parking lot.

If no cameras around, it's unlikely anyone would see the car she was transported in. She may have been dumped there around midnight or a little later Monday AM. There would be very little traffic, if any, in that area at that time. MOO

Her one friend posted that the phone was off. She had just started posting photos asking people to share because her friend was missing when the news broke of the identity of the woman found.

I am guessing she didn't have a purse with her or identification on her since the timing of her identity being released by LE seems to line up with a missing persons report being made. If she didn't have those my guess is her phone wasn't with her either otherwise LE would have probably called the number in contacts that says "mom".

This interaction broke and warmed my heart at the same time

In the early interview with LE the reporter could only get so close as media were kept away and it appeared as if the interview took place at the south end of the parking lot and her body most likely was up closer to the north end. I would have to look closer at the background in the interview to be sure.

I was tempted to start traversing the rabbit holes but I need shut eye. Maybe LE will have something to say tomorrow - better yet an arrest.
