GUILTY In - Halee Rathgeber, 20, Fatally Shot, Warrick County, 24 April 2017 *arrest*

Sounds like she was beat up AND shot. That's personal. IMO.

Could it be that she was shot in such a way as to produce a serious head wound that was initially interpreted as a blunt force trauma?

Respectfully, not necessarily ("personal"), though it could be, but what I'm saying is violence can/does occur with random predators as well.

Can you link these please? Tia :)

My first thought is that those were unrelated, since they were during a large public event (Little 500), when perhaps potential abductors were hoping to take advantage of the crowd and maybe women being inebriated. JMO

Sorry--meant to reply to the previous post about whether this might be related to the attempted abductions in Bloomington, Indiana.

Thank you for this! There were a few violent incidents April 23 & 24, including shots being fired into houses.

While Evansville is nowhere close to being a Chicago, Gary or Indianapolis in reference to violent crimes, and IIRC I read years ago they have a relatively low crime rate per capita, being an urban (highly populated) area I would expect a few violent incidents there on a weekend. But, that's JMO.

(Marking this for reference. Can you please link these incidents? Tia.)

Omg how sad!!! Wow.. and btw i cant find the link for it now but i saw somewhere on a comment section (ch 24 evansville FB i think?) There was a bolo around March 12th after a victim was robbed by a male suspect that was pretending to be a police and showed a badge. I'm trying to find more info on that.

Got the info yet, Boggled? Sorry if I've missed it. Going back to make sure I e ready every post. Tia (I'm working you guys hard today lol).

My understanding was that investigators didn't notice the bullet wound when Halee was found Monday, but believed she suffered blunt force trauma. I remember cases like that where LE thought at first someone was killed by blunt force trauma to the head until a bullet wound was discovered at autopsy. I think it just speaks to the nature of the wound--not being able to differentiate blunt force trauma from a bullet wound until the blood was cleared away and the injury examined closely. It probably also means that shell casings were not found at the scene. I could be wrong, but that's just how I read it. No other references to bodily injury other than head injury. MOO

Yes, I'm definitely wondering about those reported attempted abductions at the other university the last couple days. if it's related to that.

Margarita, here's the link to the article about the 2 attempted abductions at IU-Bloomington on Sunday:

http://fox59.com/2017/04/23/two-attempted-abductions-on-iu-campus-in-one-night/
I also wanted to point out that there's no link between the 2 abduction attempts in Bloomington per LE, even though they both occurred on campus. The suspect descriptions in both incidents differ, with multiple suspects in one case. Bloomington is a much smaller town than Evansville, and is low-crime, but sometimes similar crimes do happen within the same day/night just by coincidence.

In some cases where there is head trauma from a bullet wound sometimes there's something called "battle signs" and "raccoon eyes" which looks like blunt force trauma occurred especially if the bullet wound was in an area not easily seen like her scalp or behind an ear. The battle signs and raccoon eyes look like bruising around the eyes, face, and behind the ears. I'll see if I can find info to share with everyone about this. Only know this because I'm an ER nurse and I'm certified in trauma and have seen trauma victims with gun shots wounds who had battle/raccoon signs and initially we didn't know they were from gun shots.

Can you please paraphrase? Tia .

We figured out that it was a rough day due to them going to the funeral of her best friend's baby. :(

Nope, nothing yet.

Her tweet just said something about filling up her car with gas at the last minute??? (Paraphrasing big time)

I didn't think the tweet was alarming or relevant, it was the car part that stuck with me.

Find her car, find more evidence.

Much more details released than in Abby's and Libby's case (COD, etc.).

I wonder why they released COD? Was it leaked or was this their actual intention?

IMO, LE is withholding certain information related to Libby's and Abby's case (e.g. COD) because they have determined the manner in which the girls were murdered to be very specific and unusual. If that's the case, LE wouldn't want to release that specific information to the public because those details might help in identifying the killer(s) as only the killer(s) would have that knowledge. If they are interviewing the perp, and he mentions a specific detail about the murder that was not released to the public, LE could investigate that person further. In Halee's case, I believe LE is releasing the COD because doing so is more likely to identify the killer than not releasing the COD. Does that make sense? Sometimes I'm horrible at communicating what I mean via online post. This is ALL JUST MY OPINION, by the way.
