Also, I think investigators should send this guy's fingerprints to Ohio BMV. If he is from Ohio and drove a vehicle in that state, one must assume he had a driver's license registered and I think that most motor vehicle department's sustain fingerprints of people who have driver's license's there.
But on that note though, Grungster, I do hope they did a general fingerprint query in Ohio and Indiana to see if he had some association there. I am sure they did that, as well as the FBI. I am sure that because his body was likely taken across state lines, they had to get involved due to the that fact alone. I would be shocked if they didn't at least look at this case.

I posted in a Knightstown Facebook group and someone said that the two cops who found the body were known to hang out at that gas station. This is getting more suspicious…

It has to come my attention that investigators may have a new lead. No further information is available currently.

You know, perhaps it was John Doe's sister or friend who got pregnant and the father was their significant other. John Doe may have just been getting the pregnancy test for that person to try to help them out and then someone got mad and shot him for being nice. Maybe the same person caused his jaw injury. If not that, I feel his jaw injury may have been caused by whoever ended up killing him.

The NCMEC page for John Doe has been removed. I do not believe an official identification has made yet.

They may have removed him because they deemed him too old to be an NCMEC case. MOO

I can't find any information about possible identification. We'll have to wait a few days before anything is announced.

I am certain that they are waiting to make the identification public when they establish probable cause and arrest a possible suspect in this case. That may be what they are waiting on. Especially if they can establish the last 24 to 48 hours of his life between Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Knightstown, Indiana. But I’m only guessing.

It's sad to me that there were a lot of people saying this was drug and / or gang related just because he was classified as Hispanic... he had no gang related tattoos etc. It could be so much simpler than that. Maybe he was hitching a ride, he hitched with the wrong person that ended up robbing and killing him, I hope his case is resolved, he deserves that much.

"After nearly 20 years, a collaboration between the Henry County Coroner’s Office and the FBI has resulted in the victim being identified as Daniel Diaz, born in 1977 and a resident of Columbus, Ohio, prior to his death."

Rest in Peace, Daniel.

I think that assessment was rather based on the fact Daniel had sports clothing from different universities. Many gangs adopt symbols/logos from other organizations. However, I think it is more likely that Daniel's death was some sort of domestic dispute - one day after he purchases a pregnancy test, someone aimed a gun at his head and fired.

Another article from last night. I haven't followed this case but thought this quote was interesting.

Diaz was initially found by two undercover Indianapolis police officers who were on a ride through Henry County with an informant, according to the FOX59 archive. The officers stopped to use the restroom at the abandoned gas station along State Road 109 just south of I-70 when they found the body.

All this time, "they" = Ohio? had his fingerprints from a previous arrest. Do we know what that was for?

After all these years, FBI got a hit on them. How does that work?

Since his body was discovered at 10:50 am on a Thursday, I wonder what reasoning the detectives used for going to the facilities of an abandoned gas station instead of somewhere else. They were undercover officers and one of the articles stated their "unmarked" car was confiscated along with their guns. It wasn't like they were avoiding being identified as LE.

ETA: One of the articles said he was wearing brown work pants with UConn warmup sweatpants over them. That seems a bit odd to be wearing 2 layers of pants but no coat/jacket.

The undercover officers had an inmate with them at the time. I don’t believe they are permitted to escort an inmate to a public access facility like a grocery store or gas station. So they had to come up with the next best thing. But it does strike me as odd that this happening was coincidental, especially considering two days later, one of the UC officers got into a confrontation with a paraplegic man at a strip club.
