*Motions Hearing (@ 11am CT) - IN – Girl, 9 (missing April 19, 2021, Lafayette, found in his home) - *James Brian Chadwell II (42) was arrested & charged (4/19/21) with attempted murder, attempted intentional killing of another, 2 counts of child molestation, kidnapping (where victim is less than 14 yrs old), criminal confinement resulting in serious bodily harm, battery resulting in serious bodily injury where victim is under 14 yrs old & strangulation. Plead not guilty. $500K surety and $50K cash.
Trial was set to begin on 8/10/21 rescheduled to 8/17/21 & rescheduled to 10/19/21.

5/17/21 Update: Initial hearing conducted on Amended Count 6. Jury trial originally scheduled on 8/10/21 was rescheduled to 8/17/21 @ 8:30am; reason-Court's own motion. 5/21/21: Defense filed motion for change of venue; defendant's memorandum regarding change of venue. Defendant's exhibits 1-18 filed. Motions hearing for change of venue on 8/31/21 @ 11am. Pretrial hearing on 7/16/21.
7/16/21 Update: Pretrial Conference originally scheduled on 7/16/21 was rescheduled to 9/17/21 at 8:30am. Reason: By Agreement of Parties. Jury Trial scheduled for 8/18/21 was cancelled. Reason: Other. Jury Trial originally scheduled on 8/17/21 was rescheduled to 10/19/21 at 8:30am. Reason: By Agreement of Parties. Motion hearing re change of venue on 8/31/21.

No wonder he left SD. He has enough charges in this case to put him away for the rest of his life, which is what should happen. If he opts for a jury trial, I don't think it will matter where the jurors come from once they hear the evidence.

If he opts for a plea deal, I hope the prosecution and the judge don't go soft.

What’s everyone’s prediction as to what he’ll do? I say, plea deal. He tries to come off as a big bad @ss, but deep down, he knows he’s just a big #@%&!.

Just checking in as I had an alert reminder of the hearing but have not been able to find anything.

I will patiently wait with all of you.. I am hoping there will be a lot more info coming from LE regarding JBC !!!

According to today's court docket (Tippecanoe County), there was an Order made today that the Court is considering this matter after what was heard today and will make a decision at some point as to whether or not there will be a change of venue.

Given the facts here you'd think it would have already happened unless there was something else going on. There isn't much worse than your client getting caught in the act of a crime by police.

Date rape and consensual sex is off the table. So is ' mistaken identity.' They caught him red handed. he has zero defense options, imo. He might try mental health issues but that won't help.

He’s done, IMO. I only pray, that if he did kill Abbie and Libby, it’s discovered sooner then later. The torment those family members must live with everyday, is unimaginable.
