I am local to this area. Keeping an eye on this one. There are plenty of places you could wreck and not be seen from the roadway.

All reports were that he was on foot. No mention made of him in a vehicle. He s also bipolar which could have affected him cognitively if he hadn't taken his meds. UPDATE: Local Man Has Been Missing Since Feb. 12
Noting:
  • Werner was potentially sighted walking past East Central High School on February 13.
The high school is also on Trojan Road where John lives with his parents and where he was last seen. There is a pond just west of the high school - guessing that may have been the one that was searched by Dearborn County Water Rescue.

However, if he was headed to one of the convenience stores in the area, it looks like those are all to the east of Trojan Road on the other side of I-74.

Johnny went missing under snowy conditions and was not adequately dressed or prepared for the weather (no coat, money, or food) but the current temperature in St. Leon is 62°. I hope TXEQ or a local SAR team can get back out there and search for him soon.

I really feel for this family, having recently experienced the loss of Johnny's grandfather.

Local media - If you are reading here, please, please broadcast a little louder, "Residents who live in a 5-mile radius are asked to check their outbuildings as well as home security and any game trail footage between Feb 12 and Feb 14." MOO

The discovery of John's backpack was made not far from his home though the article doesn't specify the exact location. Dave Rader with Texas EquuSearch Midwest has already planned a search of the area and is waiting for the go ahead from LE. Let's hope John is found soon.

To Note:
•an empty black Army sling backpack not far from where Werner disappeared was found
•LE has not confirmed whether it is related to the case
“My daughter recognized it and knew that it was here at the house,” Anthony Werner, Johnny’s father, said.

Rader (Texas EquuSearch) says the backpack did not appear to be weathered, which gives them hope that Werner is alive.
•Rader says he and his trained volunteers are already prepared to search again, just waiting on the ‘ok’
•Family members, investigators and search crew leaders want Werner to know he is not in trouble, and they only want to confirm that he is safe.

According to Johnny's sister, the backpack was one she left behind when she moved from the home. See post below - she's an Admin for the FB "find" group. Initials "JW."
