Aug 19, 2014 - 15, Kristy Kelley was at the VFW in Boonville. ... Warrick County Sheriff Brett Kruse said that Kelley's phone was left behind at the VFW. ... If we had a concentrated area we needed to search, we'd consider calling the National Guard.

It could be different in a smaller centre in Indiana, but where I live, anyone who is single, between 18 and 80 has a profile on that worldwide "underwater" site. Even if they don't seem like the 'type'.

I have no clue what you're talking about. What is the worldwide "underwater" site?

"Why would people show up en-masse to start searching again just because the FBI was called in? If people want to help, they can help. And again, keep the spirits of the community up is not really the #1 priority here."
---The family and authorities are literally begging people to keep searching for Kristy. Go look at the "Find Kristy" Facebook page, and her father's page, and her best friend's page. All of them, including the police are begging people to continue to search for her. Even abducted children cases get to a point where the number of searchers dwindles the longer the search goes on. Research the local news channels here; WFIE and WEHT. There are stories about how thousands came out in the beginning to search. As of this past weekend, both stations, and the Courier and Press reported only 24 people showed up to search. From you saying that the spirits of the public shouldn't be an issue, then how then, are those pleas going to motivate the same number of people to continue searching? See, the searches have all yielded nothing. After awhile, searches feel frustrated and hopeless. That's human nature. I feel the pleas for people to continue to search should be followed by some glimmer of motivation; such as the FBI is coming, or the National Guard. See below.

Its bizzare it took 20 min to get to TF cam. could there have been an altercation in the parking lot with someone when she went outside and no one inside knew? There is about 15 minutes unaccounted for right from the get go.

The bartender said she stepped outside though. How long after she heard a door close did she do that?
Hinky.

Kelley's mother tells HLN that Kristy was out with some friends at a bar to support a bartender friend.

"Everyone had left. The bartender had to go back in to do deposits from what I understand," said Kristy's mom, Kathy Scales. "When [the bartender] came back out, Kristy was no longer there. They heard a door close and didn’t think much of it ... thought she stepped outside for a moment. But her vehicle was gone."

If they heard the door close it was probably Kristy going out. If someone came in they should have heard the door 2 times.

If they didn't KNOW Kristy, why would they leave her alone sitting in the bar area? Why wouldn't they say that they're closing now?
It sounds as if Kristy and the bartender weren't friends after all. With this much confusion over simple things, something is wrong imo.

You are absolutely correct! But our local police have done all they possibly can; and then some. They are at a total and complete loss. They are not experienced in such cases. No one thinks they can come in and solve it. But we won't know if they don't come and assist. I am perplexed as to why people would be against utilizing the resources of the FBI? Why not? How could it possibly hinder this case?? We believe Kristy deserves every single possible investigative tool available to find her. Nothing less. Her children deserve that, too. Five detectives is not working. So, why NOT try to seek help from the FBI?

Jmo but the FBI does not have a magic wand. They usually offer support services in these cases, as they have better access to computer and phone data, may be able to obtain warrants quicker, have better computer analysts, etc...and if they have suspects, they may have more experienced interviewers. But it is not like they come into a strange missing persons case with very little evidence, and just solve it.

My husband is here so I asked him if he knows if the National Guard can search for missing persons. He replied they can if the Governor tells them too. NG reports to the Governor of a state. I'm just not aware of cases when the NG was used but that doesn't mean they aren't/haven't been used. Interesting.

I'm assuming it's the dating site with Fish in the name.

Yeah, it's pretty darn confusing. Not sure what is fact v. fiction at this point.

I've heard of Snap Fish - lol!
I'm not asking my husband because it could open a can of worms. :blushing:

Perhaps they did ask, and other than the small amount of help the FBI offered early in the investigation, they were told no. Do you know for a fact they haven't? I don't. LE isn't going to say "We asked the FBI and they told us to sod off." There may very well be rules around when they come in and when they don't, and I suspect this is a don't until more evidence is found. I dunno.. We've beat this topic way into the ground though! :happydance:

I'm not against anyone coming in to help, but I'm also realistic.

Seems like they should begin at and around the VFW and work their way outward especially checking the pits and lakes, wooded areas and corn fields. Big job for sure. Usually a discarded person is discovered within 25 miles - some a lot less - from where they were abducted. The SUV that hasn't turned up is rather unique to this case. If Holly Bobo hadn't been abducted from her own backyard though, her car could have been stashed on the Adams' property for these three plus years, right? If so, LE didn't search the property until last March so why couldn't a car have been there all along hypothetically.

I think that 15 -18 min from when she left VFW to car on cam is important. Did something happen in that parking lot? Was someone she hoped would show up waiting out there for her? Did she talk to someone out there and they asked her to meet them somewhere? Was she even driving the car?

Wouldn't the bartender have seen or heard something though? Now she's saying she stepped outside after hearing a door closing. She'd better clarify the timeline. Plus wouldn't someone logically think to look in the restroom at that time to see if the final known patron (Kristy) is safe or still in the building? Someone reported the phone wasn't located until the morning (the next shift when someone came in to open up again).

So, you left a woman sitting in the bar area when every employee retired to an office.
The cleaning man no longer exists in the story.
When you returned to the bar area, Kristy was no longer there but you heard a door closing.
No biggie. Yet you step outside but don't/can't see anything or anyone. How long afterward did you do that?
Finally, you don't think to check the restroom even though Kristy was supposed to be waiting for you.

I'd like to hear/see the bartender tell her account of things myself. Something is getting lost in the translation.

Keeping in mind too, LE might have a strong theory but no break/clue through attempting to gather evidence.

Do we know where the leaving the VFW at 1:30ish time came from? I know it has been stated many times that there are no cameras in the parking lot of the VFW. Are there cameras inside? I really want to know this! Because it's also been stated that she left alone. How do they know? Witnesses say this or is it on camera?

I don't think anyone is against the FBI coming in. <modsnip> And we also realize that the FBI may not be able to solve the case any better or more quickly than the 5 detectives can.

Well, that was the first time I've posted in the wrong thread! Sorry!

No prob but did you know you can delete a whole post when you immediately notice it was a mistake?
I've double posted (computer glitch) and am able to delete the second one by going into "Go Advanced" and iirc you press delete in two places. Wait, when the post is yours, you press "edit" and then delete, delete (lower on page).
