I agree. What kind of a 'friend' watches a drunk, 90 lb woman, stumble out their door, and down the street, at 4 o' clock in the morning? Any friend, male or female would make her stay inside or walk her home themselves.
Sometimes friends make really bad decisions, especially when they are young people. The perfect example is Morgan Harrington's friends. They knew she was very intoxicated when she left the concert but didn't go search for her when she called them from outside the arena and told them she'd find a ride home, which was well over 100 miles away. I have compassion for Morgan's friends, it was a dumb decision that will surely haunt them.

I watched Lauren's parents on the press conference earlier. Her Dad spoke briefly they looked exhausted and heart broken. They have been searching everyday. So hard to watch and I could just feel the grief from their expressions. The problem here is she needs her medication everyday,so even if she is alive how long can she survive.

Also I wonder if they are using the term "friend" loosely?
Could this have been someone she just met that night?

The Bloomington Police Department said Tuesday that anyone seen with Indiana University student Lauren Spierer in the hours before her disappearance is considered a "person of interest," though no suspects have been identified.

This is what struck me as to why I think LE isn't believing her friends' stories...

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm from Indiana, so when it's closer to home I guess you take more interest in these things.

A man tried to abduct me when I was a child, and another when I was a teenager, it happens very fast, in a matter of seconds, and that's even when you can see it coming. Imagine how difficult a situation it is if someone catches you completely off guard? Anyhow, I pray for this girl's family. I always hope these things will turn out like the Runaway Bride story, but we know that's often not the case.

Breaking news!Bloomington Police have removed two computer hard drives from rooms off of the lobby at Smallwood Plaza. At about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night, the first of four Bloomington Police cars with lights flashing arrived in the 800 block of College Avenue. One officer was carrying a battering ram. An officer told Fox59 News that investigators were attempting to find a key to open an apartment.

At 8:25 p.m., police used the battering ram to knock down two doors near the lobby of the apartment building.

Something must be going down

Just getting caught up ... As of yesterday evening we did not know that the friend who last saw her was a male. Was that in a news story today?

Not waiting until management can get a key to two apartments, use a battering ram to get hard drives? Where is this headed?

I am not clear on the battering ram being used to get the hard drives.

I read that they got the hard drives from the apartment building and also used a battering ram to open two doors near the lobby.

I wish the article was more clear!

I think it's pretty clear they used a battering ram to gain access to the rooms? Waited an hour for keys, then used the battering ram.

I remember that . I was actually pretty mad at them myself though. This hits home because I have a 19 yr old who goes to a lot of concerts. It is scary but the kids have to stick together. They should have sacrificed and one of them should have gone outside with her. But more important, she should never have gone to the rest room by herself. That seemed weird to me. My kid swears they always stay in pairs because drunk guys get rude or too out of control when a pretty girl cruises by all alone. I just don't get why she tried to hitchhike and I wish she didn't. But her friends should have not left her alone and stranded. Rant over.

I think they mean the storage rooms or offices where the taping equipment would be found.

I hope there is an update tonight...
It sounds as though LE feels someone lied about something...

Friday morning, Hadar Tamir was one of the first to notice roommate Spierer didn't come home the night before. A phone call from Lauren's boyfriend alerted Amand Roude who called Sara Gornish and the search was on for the missing IU co-ed.

So Lauren has a boyfriend, then who was the male friend she was visiting?

The plot thickens. Could someone jealous have followed her when she did not answer his calls, and lashed out?

I re-read it, I think Clu is right they wanted the security video?

Sorry long day.

The leaving of the shoes really bugs me. How many people did she leave the bar with? I believe she had to be considerably drunk to leave them and her cell anyway, but if it was a group of people no one noticed and said something that would have made them go back to get them?? Makes me wonder if she was with one male person, maybe she DID know she had left them behind, but in a drunken state was easily convinced not to go back to the bar. Something seems fishy.........jmo

Double Checking something...

I read she wasn't on the security tapes hence they "knew" she never made it home

however,

I think I read somewhere else that when they know for sure she went to her apartment with her friend, either that night or earlier that day, she wasn't picked up on the security tapes either.

Do these security tapes work period?
