On Saturday, April 11, two Kroger customers were in the store's parking lot in Indianapolis when one man shot another. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) was alerted to the shooting around 6:51 p.m. local time, and upon their arrival, found the victim suffering gunshot wounds, WTHR reported.

Someone please help me understand this... I'm not trying to shame peoples hobbies, but I just don't understand why every time I go to any store/airport that has a Pokemon kiosk there are ALWAYS middle age men there (no children with them) buying brand new Pokemon cards. If they were old collectible cards I could understand, but I don't understand why men my age (43) are buying NEW pokemon cards. Is it nostalgia? Are they hoping they'll just happen to get a rare new one that they can sell on ebay? What are they doing with these cards???

My lil bros collected those cards in the 2000s when they were in their pre teens. I think they played some kind of game with them...?

Thankfully, the linked article notes that the victim is in stable condition after surgery. It would be beyond awful if someone died over a Pokemon card.....

Scalping. A lot of them are just buying all of the packs so that actual fans have no choice but to pay their markups on eBay. There are also new rare cards that go for a lot (not nearly as much as old ones though, AFAIK), but I think it’s mostly the former as it would be really difficult to break even on the latter.
