Circumstances of Disappearance
Monique was visiting a friend in Fort Wayne, IN for approximately one month.

She was driven to Fort Wayne International Airport on 04/13/2021 for a possible destination of Washington DC. Her travel information is unknown or if she boarded an airplane.

Family and friends have not heard from her and she has no social media accounts that are known.

Monique has lived in the state of New York previously.

I am Monique's sister. I Googled and found this. Monique did make it to the DMV area. Her friend did drop her off at the airport in April. Last contact with Monique was June 6th 2021. She messaged my other sister Happy Birthday. I spoke with her friend and last know place she was located is Northern Virginia, likely Arlington or Alexandria vicinity at an extended stay hotel. Her friend said she was going to a church she watched online. She was born in NY and grew up in Yonkers. We have a missing person's report filed with Yonkers police. They refuse to ping her phone because it is still on. It either just rings and no answer, or goes directly to voice-mail. I have contacted ALLLLL of her friends and no one has had any contact later than May of 2021, my other sister is the only one who heard from her in June, after that NOTHING. No replies to texts, phone calls or voice messages. We hired a private investigator and weirdly they can't find anything on her. We are trying to locate her SSN so we can track her. Any other questions please reach out to me. It will be a whole year in June with zero contact. Thank you for this thread.

Consider reporting her missing to the Highway Patrol:

looks like Alexandria and Arlington are both in Fairfax County.

Do you happen to know the name of the church? That could be another source of information.

@JnRyan , I think you are located near here? Any other local Virginia posters?

I wonder if something about flying to Virginia could be added to the thread title?

Please keep us posted!

Was Monique living in Yonkers at the time of her disappearance?

Was she known to travel with someone who paid for her expenses? Or did she have income to pay for lodging, airfare, cell, etc.

Any particular denomination she was drawn to or had previously shown interest in attending? It must have really made an impression on her after watching online.

I live in SE VA. But that said, I haven't heard of this case. This is in northern VA/DC area. Those are our larger population areas and not being able to narrow down the city to Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax or others might hamper an effort to get LE involvement in that area.

Thank you. I didn't realize I received any replies. I didn't get an email notification. I will complete the verification process today. My sister was staying with her friend in Indiana. She's a childhood friend who grew up with her in Yonkers and moved to Indiana with her family years later. I don't know why she was there. My sister at that time was unemployed and collecting unemployment. She said she was going to start school in the fall in NY, she decided she was going to be a lawyer. I was told by her friend it was Lehman college. We called the school to see if she was enrolled but we were told they can't release that information. I WISH I knew what church she was heading to, I don't know the name. Monique was always quoting the Bible. A part of us wonder if she fell into a cult because her phone is still on. We're wondering who is paying the bill. The phone either goes straight to voice-mail, or rings until it goes to her mailbox which is full. I personally feel my sister has an undiagnosed mental illness. She makes hasty and rash choices with no real clear plans or thoughts of consequences. Her friend from Indiana said she was heading to DC, While she was there another friend of hers spoke to her and she sent her a pic of where she was staying. Her friend Googled the location and that's how I got that it was either in Arlington or Alexandria Virginia. She was supposed to have returned to NY for the upcoming school year her friend told me, but we don't know if she's even back in the state. We're all scared because absolutely NO ONE has heard from her and this isn't normal at all. Yonkers police won't ping the phone because they said since its still on and she's an adult, she could just not want to be reached. We want to know if she's at least SAFE or even ALIVE. How do we know the numb3r hasn't been recycled? I'm trying to find her social security number so that my brother can give it to private the investigator he hired to see if they can locate her.

She always traveled alone. She at the time of traveling had no official residence. She was staying with me for awhile, then she was renting a place, then she up and left for California first. Then from there she headed to Indiana. She pays everything through unemployment. She's Christian, I THINK Pentecostal. I'm not sure. This is all very stressful and overwhelming

@Vboamah , sounds like you & your brother are taking steps to make sure your sister Monique is OK.

The PI may bring you some answers?

If we can find her social security number we can track if she's been employed or anything. I'm trying to find a very old tax form to see if i have it.

A school record might have that number, the school might tell you if you have a Missing Person's report?

Your family may be able to look at old tax returns on-line.

Best of luck, keep at it, and please let us know when you talk to your sister!

@Vboamah , thank you for starting the verification process. Being a verified family member will allow other members here to ask specific questions in Monique's disappearance.

I agree that getting information out to the general public can be of vital importance in MP cases like Monique's.

I've read through your posts and tried to sort out what we *think* we know so far about Monique. Please correct anything below that is not correct.

- At the time she was in Indiana, Monique was collecting unemployment benefits.
- When leaving Ft Wayne, her destination was Washington D.C.
- Monique always travels alone.
- Her last known location was at an extended stay hotel in Virginia, likely either Arlington or Alexandria.
- Her cell phone is still active, but all calls are unanswered or go to voice mail.
- LE will not attempt to locate her using her phone since it is still active.
- None of her family or friends have seen Monique or heard from her since May/June of 2021.
- Your family has hired a PI, but so far no new information has been found.
- Monique said she planned to start law school in NY during the fall of 2021 but the school wouldn't confirm if she's enrolled there.
- Monique has significant involvement with a church, but the specific church and denomination is unknown.
- It's possible Monique may have non-diagnosed mental health issues.
- Monique "makes hasty and rash choices with no real clear plans or thoughts of consequences."
- You are searching for her SSN and will provide it to the PI your family has hired.

Is all of this correct?

I am a close friend of Monique Boamah. The last time I spoke to Monique was around May as well. I send her text messages and phone calls frequently. Her phone is very much active although she doesn’t respond to any of my phone calls. A mutual friend of mine and her reached out to me today and stated he spotted her in Harlem, New York at a restaurant bar called Corner Social a few months back. He shared that he swears it was her but he was in a rush and couldn’t stop to say hello to her like he normally would. I am not completely sold by this news because it could be someone who resembled her. However, I know she had plans to move back to New York so she could very well be back already here. Is there any way her phone can be tracked??? Why haven’t the police tracked her phone???

@320marroyo , does the family know about this mutual friend in New York?

That is Monique's friend, I showed her this link. We still haven't located Monique's social security number. The police refuse to ping her phone because they say since it's still on she may just not want to be located. But we asked them to at least ping it to give us a location and they refuse. It's beyond frustrating!!!
