An Indiana teenager accused of stabbing his mother Friday morning told police he did it to kill the demon in her.

The 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, and two counts of battery. He’s also charged with two counts of torturing an animal for alleged stabbing two dogs, according to WBND.

Jail officials told WNDU that Rutledge injured two corrections officers after he was booked into the jail Friday evening. They are receiving medical treatment and expected to be okay.

uh, yeah, I am thinking you are dead on with that - serious mental health situation with him. Psychosis MOO IMO Prayers for his mother. I can't imagine her pain and fear and love and concern all mixed up at once in those horrific moments.

Caden Rutledge, who is being charged as an adult, is facing several felony charges, including one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated battery, two counts of torturing an animal, one count of battery by means of a deadly weapon, and one count of battery.

The teen appeared in court virtually from the jail, being physically held by three officers. This comes after reports from police that Rutledge was violent when he arrived at the jail, causing injury to two correctional officers.

Rutledge is being held on a $500,000 bond and will be put on probation if he is able to bond out.

His public defender also mentioned he will seek mental health treatment at Oaklawn.

Rutledge is expected to be back in court for an initial hearing on Sept. 28.

Investigators say the mother was stabbed 13 times and was rushed to the hospital, where she is now listed in stable condition.

They say Rutledge also stabbed two dogs. They are also in stable condition.
