@FrostedGlass - the charging dates (4/11/21) are when he was probably caught with the drugs & they got around to filing them on 5/5/21.

And thanks for that additional info. :)

  • #783
Well - that can't be right ^^ - in my notes I have:

12/11/20 Update: Motion filed to amend charging info. Motion hearing on 12/18/20 @ 8:30am & dispositional hearing on 1/15/21 12/18/20 Update: State's motion to amend charging info; charging info to include count 3: trafficking with an inmate, a level 5 felony. Order changing dispositional hearing to pretrial conference hearing on 1/15/21.

So - ignore my post #782 - I don't know why! LOL!

You're welcome.

When I see that much time between charges and filling, I assume either someone snitched on him or he bought from an undercover. Maybe that's a wrong assumption?

Maybe I should just forget about following this case against Mathis - it doesn't really have anything to do with Nicole....

  • #788
The number ending in 897 is the previous one for trafficking to an inmate and 376 is the new one for possession of meth and a narcotic drug.

If you want to stop following him, that's fine.

I do - since it really has nothing to do with Nichole's case - don't you think?

I have to agree @Niner. Mathis was already released for Nicole charges and couldn't keep clean and was soon returned to custody.

It's always easier for me to not post so I have no problem with stopping. Hopefully this whole case will come to an end soon.

Thanks. After spending so many hours on some of these cases, I find it a bit difficult to not think about them after the case closes.

Guilty!!
Ashley Garth found guilty on all three charges in murder trial
KENTLAND, Ind, (WLFI) - On Friday, a jury found Ashley Garth guilty on all three charges for the murder of Nicole Bowen.

As we've previously reported, Bowen's body was found on a rural Newton County property in 2019. She was found wrapped in a blanket and bound by tape in an abandoned semi truck trailer. She was strangled to death by an extension cord.

Garth faced charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and assisting a criminal. Garett Kirts is also serving time for his involvement in Bowen's murder. He is serving a 55 year sentence. Garth's sentencing hearing is set for June 9th.
ETA Part of Nicole’s 10 yr old son’s statement:

"Hello, I'm Korbin Bowen, the son of Nicole Bowen, my mom, the same person you took away from me.

This started two years ago, the day I learned I would never hear her voice, or feel her hugs again. That day I was in my bedroom playing games, and I heard crying from upstairs, and in my head I knew something had happened to my mom. "What's wrong?" I thought. Well after about 30 minutes I was called upstairs to the the worst words of my life "Your mom has passed."

Ever since then I thought about it and how my little brother and I won't have a mom to talk to. How he and I will celebrate our birthday's without a mom. How all he has is me and my grandparents to tell him about the silly things she would do.
ETA: So heartbroken for her children and loved ones:(

Jinx!
Thank you for this long-awaited verdict! I'd still like to know what happened in the courtroom -- what the witnesses testified! Especially Kirts.
