Another thought. Donna Rae could just be a street name.
Joseph Newton Chandler case. He had a little bit of truth in stuff he made up. Claimed to have a sister named Mary at a certain address in Columbus, Ohio. The address didn't exist. When his identity was discovered the address was actually in the city and State where he came from. Maybe even his parents home or something like that.

I'm just trying to get clarification. Was fake Paul's ex wife's name Diane, Diana, or Donna?
Also, were they married/divorced in Ohio? I don't remember reading a specific state.

Anyone had luck with Diana (sp) Rae in divorce records?

A poster found a possible woman on FaceBook, I think; I don't use that site so didn't check further.

IIRC, this woman was near a couple Air Force installations?

From Vern, #170

Crackbook has a woman of said name (with a third name) in the first city you mention above. Just choose that city on the left side as part of your search criteria.

She's also the right age-range. Has a visible photo on her page that has her sitting on the couch with a gentleman circa mid-80s judging by the clothing. No pics of him more recent than that. Hard to tell by the photo as it's faded in his facial area, but very short cropped hair. Prominent chin - similar facial shape.

Her page also has her as having attended Central High School, Albert Lea, MN

As far as I know -- we don't really know. Apparently the "Indiana wife" stated that not-Paul mentioned an ex-wife, Diana Rae (Something.) On the license for the Indiana wedding, Not-Paul gives the date of the divorce as Nov. 1985, I think.

"Vern" found a candidate on FaceBook-- I think CyresAres1 should speak with her, at least, if anyone can figure out what Vern means? Vern suggests a photograph of this Diana Rae with a man, '80's era picture...and the man bears some resemblance to not-Paul.

JMHO YMMV

Current wife, Marla, told me Paul had stated her name was Diane (spelling unknown) Rae (middle name) and she thought they lived in Kansas City or Wichita. One his application of marriage with Marla he put he was divorced in 1987.... no clue where married or divorced though

LOL, I didn't even look on facebook because I thought there really was something called "Crackbook" that I didn't know about so I didn't know where to start. .... Still LOL

Didn't there used to be a way to search words within a thread? Can we still do that somehow?

Figured poster was insulting FaceBook? Mis-remembered the year, didn't I?

Since Vern found this candidate, maybe another poster can as well?

@Vern , can you lead other posters to this possible 1980's image?

He told his “current wife” he was married to a Diane Rae (unknown last name for sure) in the Kansas or Missouri area... she had trouble remembering. I noted his information showed up in 2000-2001 as well... but it is old and not reliable.

Bumping this up because I'm then one that screwed up her name.

I am headed to bed, long two days of searching. Thank everyone for all you have done to this point. I think the alleded ex-wife “Diane Rae (first and middle names) could be something interesting. Marriage/ Divorce decree?? And go!!!

Same. Bump.

  • #377
Please remember: Paul was allegedly married to "Diane Rae" somewhere in the United States and he marked on his marriage application in 1992 he had divorced in 1985. Marla was not sure of the spelling of the first name, but confident of the middle name because of it's odd spelling. She also believes they lived in either Kansas City MO or Wichita KS. I am hopeful someone has time and ability to look into this.

Bumping more info about the alleged ex-wife and timeline.

(1987)A home near Sheridan when he requested the SSN.
(1991)Group home meets Marla
(1991)Paul gets job at St Vincent
(1992)June 6th, they get married
November 27th, 1992- Paul is at Thanksgiving and leaves, never to be seen again.

Bump. Add alleged divorce in 1985. Lived in Kansas City, Mo. or Wichita, Kansas perhaps.

Toni's Latest Blog Post is up on our The Invisible Man Page. The latest post has a very strong theory/lead in it. It came from a true crime podcaster in Ohio. I am going to copy/paste the theory part of the post as well as the photo comparison from that post below so that it is here on Websleuths to reference but I would encourage you to read Toni's ENTIRE blog post (The Italian Connection) so that you have a full picture of the theory. - Emelia Mancione - Social Media Director - Glacé Entertainment Public Relations

Nic from True Crime Garage Podcast Theory:

"Joe (Little Joe D) DeRose, Jr Mobster that was “killed” in 1982 - body never found. They found his vehicle or his girlfriend’s vehicle on fire. Many years later another mobster was convicted of the murder. Joe was 32 when they found the car on fire. This would make him in his early forties - possibly 41, 42 or 43 when Paul disappeared. I don’t know the details of the conviction... if In fact they never recovered the body... did the convicted get convicted because LE needed to put him away and he just bragged and took credit for a guy that the mobsters wanted dead?

More importantly this guy looks like the pictures of Paul. Mainly the distance from top lip to nose, which is skewed by Paul’s mustache. I’ll send pictures but the mugshot picture also shows a similar hairline. There is a bend at the top left (His right) of his nose that matches up too. If this is the same guy - well this makes sense too regarding Paul’s wife. The idea being she loved him and understood he was wanted by LE and was a marked man. The bad boy and victim all at the same time. Under this scenario she’s assisting him in some form even though they likely have no interaction today. This because she considers him to be the love of her life no matter how brief. "

I'd like to see more pictures of little Joey.

Noticed that in the second article posted here by Detective, a woman named Margaret M(last name in article) and her Navy husband were also guests of Mrs Harrod (née Condon) and her Navy husband Paul at the Condons' home at the same time. Wonder if Mr. Harrod's Good Navy buddy and his wife, "Margaret" had a son or if Margaret later did under another name or wonder if Margaret's maiden name was Coletti.

Need some ancestry/ genealogy help here folks! Not my forte.
