Shelby police detective taking part in exhumations to ID bodies

Well, this seemed to take quite a different direction; turns out there was a different body in the grave than the presumed Jane Doe from 1945.

On September 24, 2021 a body was exhumed at the Carter Cemetery in Jackson Township, Porter County, Indiana. Officials were attempting to disinter the remains of an unidentified female who was buried in 1945—Porter Co Jane Doe 1945. After inspection, authorities determined the remains could not be that of the unidentified body buried in 1945.

I can't find anything about the current whereabouts of the 1945 VJD.

The "new" Jane Doe has already been taken on by DNA Doe Project, and I've made a thread for her:
