In Retrospect-Kronk Believes He Saw Skull In August

According to his GMA interview, he was with one person- his coworker.

Even if it was just one why no accounts of what he may have seen. Or what RK may have said to him to back up RK. Don't get me wrong I believe RK. I don't think he is/was a part of anything.

I actually saw at one time an on camera interview with someone from the utilities company who claimed that RK wasn't even there to read meters, he was "flagging" as they do for someone who is planting trees or putting up a fence. (I don't know what network it was so don't even ask me to find the video anywhere as I have no clue.) I believe that this person being interviewed was responding to questions about why the 911 operator in December was told to look for a utilities vehicle when RK was supposedly NOT out reading meters.

Haven't heard that account as of yet not to say it didn't happen. And I know what you mean about finding the links to things on the news. Sometimes they don't put exactly the same on the web site as they show on the news.

I really believe Kronk saw the remains in August and knew exactly what he had found. He may have realized that being associated with the remains up-close-and-personal could cause a lot of trouble for him and, in the long run, for the prosecution's case. I believe he did his best to lead LE without incriminating himself. When that didn't work, he grappled with his conscience and his conscience finally won.

As Kronk said, "No good deed goes unpunished." It's the nature of a high profile case.

The more stories he tells, the more he changes his stories, the less believable he is. I do not think he saw the skull in Aug. NO ONE would walk away from that, shrugging their shoulders, like "ah, okay, I must be seeing things."

He may have known he was looking at a skull when he saw it. But his extreme desire to remain anonymous may have kept him from saying it outright to the dispatcher. Sorta like... I gotta get the cops over here, but I can't tell them I found the body because then I become pulled into the media and the trial and I don't want that. Let the cop take the credit for finding her. I just have to get him over here by saying things just don't look right. I'll explain to the dispatcher that I have a suspicious feeling but not give any details of what I actually saw.

He said in retrospect, he thinks he saw the skull. He saw something white. Now that he knows what it was, he's probably thinking that the something white was the skull, or part of it.

Yes, the body would have been decomposed enough to only be a skull.
You are absolutely right. I didn't think about it that way but in your mind when you replay events you do realize or think about things you may have missed. Thank you for helping me to understand this better rather than jumping to conclusions.

I was wondering the same thing.

Below is a link to an article by Dr. Arpad Vass. He is currently a Senior Staff
Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and
Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of
Tennessee in Forensic Anthropology. The article appeared in the Nov 1, 2008issue of Microbiology Today.

In the right margin of the 2nd page of the pdf (page 191 of the magazaine), he states "In temperate regions of the United States individuals can be completely skeletonized in 30–40 days in the summer."

***Warning, some graphic images of human decomp.

http://www.sgm.ac.uk/pubs/micro_today/pdf/110108.pdf

I thought I heard, and w/o getting too graphic - it would seem to make sense - that a child's body could take much less time to completely skeletonize...hence the ME's estimate that it could have been skeleton in 2 weeks....presumably the 30-40 day estimate from the source above would be for an adult. Makes sense that a child would take half the time.

The problem though, is that Kronk didn't say this, a "source close to the investigation" said it.

I'm surprised at the number of people who have read through this whole thread and still don't see the difference between saying "I knew in August that I was looking at a skull" and "In retrospect, I think that white thing I saw in August might have been a skull". These are two very different statements, and if you're basing a theory on the first one, the theory will be invalid, because that version of the statement is invalid.

Finding a business contact's phone number in your husband's pants might be similar. Not such a big deal at the time of discovery, it's a business contact. Once you find out he's having an affair, you might think, "the number that I found was the number of his mistress".

It's going to take a lot more than media glitz and spin to convince me that RK is colluding with the As or involved in LPs daisy chain theory. I think media spin is making it appear that RK's story changes, when in fact it hasn't changed all that much. That's just my opinion, however, and I love that we have so many differing opinions on this board; I think that's how so much investigative ground gets covered so quickly. :)

What I don't understand, is when some people keep saying RK keep changing his story or now he is saying this when before he was saying that.

Hasn't this guy only spoke directly twice? The first time his attorney did most of the talking and he said he wasn't going into detail. The second time was on GMA, and that was a short interview also. When I listen to these two interviews I don't hear inconsistent statements. I think it is wrong to attribute assumptions and heresay as RK's words. JMHO

Wouldn't there have been this horrific SMELL coming from the area? I would think that would be cause for LE to check again after arming themselves with protective gear against snakes....(IDK, it just seems logical).:waitasec:

Decomp would have occurred before anyone other than Casey knew Caylee was missing.

A swampy area in Florida is full of smells- so it doesn't surprise me that the odor was masked by other natural smells or ignored because it was attributed to swamp or a dead animal. Plus, that road dead ends about 100 yards past where Caylee was found. Across the street is the back/bus entrance to an elementary school that was closed for summer vacation the first week of June. There was no reason for anyone to travel past that area at all during the time Caylee's body was decomposing.

Kronk said he and his partner finished reading meters at 1:30 and could not return to their depot until 2:30 so they sought a shady spot to waste an hour before returning.

Actually from June 16-August 11 is almost two months.

And several forensic experts have said that given the conditions in Florida last summer, Caylee's remains in those woods would have been skeletonized in appx, 2 weeks.

I stand corrected. I should know better than to do math before my morning coffee. :)

Or simply why didn't (when the cop was there with him) RK say...hey hold on a minute...I'll wade in and get the bag and let's look. Although I understand he might have been somewhat intimidated by the cop trying to "blow him off" if he was truly that worried, I would have retrieved the bag while LE was there.

Question: Would you go wading through Florida swamp land in street clothes????

Maybe this is why neither RK or the officer got too close at that time!!!!!!

I 100% agree.

There is no story here. He is basically saying, in hindsight, looking back, etc., that he now believes it he saw the skull..geez I already get that from 911 call and the something white comment. It was even discussed here somewhere IIRC already that the something white he saw might have been the skull.

Princess, you're right. Not a new story, but an extended story. He's adding something new to his original statements...not changing it. But, I believe he should keep his mouth shut until trial and he's called to testify. The more he talks about what he might have saw, the worse it gets.

You would think they would have collected that back when they found the computer searches though.

My first response, post #639, 12-14-08

Could have been LIME. Used in gardening. Used by murderers to hasten decomposition. May have needed a shovel to get it into the bag.
Just speculation, IMO. Maybe totally wrong, and, anyways, someone mentioned Lime awhile back on here. Was it true the Anthony's mentioned using Lime in the garden at their home. Can't remember.
----------------------

OK, after that, a discussion ensued about "Lime." And many of us concluded that the Lime that could be used to further decomposition would be of the Quik Lime variety. Then we surmised that maybe KC did not know the difference between Quik Lime and Lime used for gardening.

Is there any way that Lime used in gardening CAN in fact hasten decomp. of a body, even though that is not its primary usage?

I think the whole CLAN- everyone involved with the case better get their stories straight- too much speculation and too many contradictions- You dont know who or what to believe anymore- I don trust none of them- the Anthonys, the physic, the MR, the P.I's, the LE- all of the above and more- everyday there seems to be a different story or confliction- I think they are learning from Casey how to lie-

Correct. The defense will love this.

The more story inconsistencies Kronk provides, the longer his scortched-earth, cross-examination will take. This one will be morbidly ugly.
