STATEWIDE SILVER ALERT

Muncie Police Department is asking for help locating a woman missing from Muncie.

Shonda Howard is described as a 74 year old white female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 108 lbs, white hair with hazel eyes. She was last seen Thursday December 26 wearing a grey shirt and black pants.

She is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.

Not many details but if a search of her address brings up her current address, then she was in a heavily residential area. I’m surprised she hasn’t been located yet.

  • The Silver Alert was issued Monday, Dec 30 at 1:55 a.m.

Investigators found surveillance video that showed Howard at a business, at Jackson Street and Tillotson Avenue, at 1:17 a.m. on Dec. 26.

According to a release issued by Criswell on Wednesday, Howard had arrived at that location on foot, and she was last seen walking west, in the direction of her home in the 3000 block of West Jackson Street.

After nearly two weeks, Muncie police are continuing their efforts to find a missing Muncie woman.

Police dogs and drones have been used in efforts to locate the missing woman,

Police said she was known to "walk and cut through an area from her residence at 3009 W. Jackson St. as far south as Varsity Avenue, Ethel Avenue and the Payless (supermarket) at Tillotson Avenue and White River Boulevard."

Shonda was last seen walking in this area. The body found could be her. Autopsy results have not yet been released.

The body was found Tuesday in the pond in an area largely covered by brush immediately west of the McDonald's restaurant, 305 S. Tillotson Ave., and north of the railroad tracks.

This is local for me. So sad.
