IN - Subway's Jared Fogle - plea deal in federal child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 case, 2015

Good find. 60% was his salary from the foundation. Wow. So if I donated $1million to his foundation. Then I would have actually been putting $600k in his pocket to have fun with.

No thank you. Note to self. Don't donate to foundations. Lol. People will scam anything from anyone. That's just ridiculous.

I never have, never will. My mother always said that when you donate to foundations, the money goes first to salaries and the people in need seldom see a dime.

Pretty smart for an 80-year-old lady.

I'm reading the charges (PDF document).

The minor (#13) he engaged in sex with was 17 at the time. So she was of legal consent according to the laws in NY, but because the sex was for 'commercial purposes,' i.e. for payment, that is what made it illegal, along with his traveling from Indiana to NY for that purpose, also a crime.

If I'm understanding this correctly, if he had been in NY for other reasons, met this 17 yr old, engaged in sex, but not for any money or anything of value, then it wouldn't have been a crime since she was the minimum legal age for consent in having sex. (in the state of NY, which is 17).

It sure sounds that way and makes my head spin....

There was a huge United Way scandal about 25 years ago and that's when I came up with my rule of help people and donate small. So donate to local, small charities instead of corporations, and give direct help to people in need.

It's crazy how much money he was controlling.

Point.Sailed.Way.Over.Head.

1. Not every minor who takes money for sex has a pimp, a drug habit, is living on the street. Some yes. Many, sure I'd believe that. All/most? I don't think that's true.

2. Some minors solicit sex for money. And they use the Internet as one way of doing this. Not all. Some.

3. It's illegal to solicit sex for money, regardless of how it's done. And it can be a felony for someone over 18 to have sex with a minor. The burden rests on the adult.

4. This (teens having sex and even having sex with adults) is not new. What is new are the laws around this have been made much tougher, more serious (felony conviction, registered sex offender, long prison sentences). Back when I was a teenager (17/18), those types of crimes weren't seen as anything serious. The laws protecting minors didn't exist the way they do now. (thank goodness they now exist!).

5. An adult can be a sex offender (sex with a legal minor) and not be a pedophile (not attracted to pre-pubescent children). Not saying JF is or isn't. I'm making a general comment. They are not one in the same, although the legal trouble is similar. It is, however, illegal if that adolescent female is under 18.

You make many salient points, germane to this discussion.

At the risk of flaming arrows shot at my hindquarters, I totally agree with you that biologically, a grown man being attracted to an adolescent female is not unusual. I received much unwelcomed attention from the friends of my much-older brother when I was 16/17/18 and they were close to 30.

And I won't lie: sometimes I welcomed to attention and sometimes used it to my advantage (can you buy me and my friends some beer?), but bottom line is that it is wrong and that adolescents and young adults are notorious for poor decision making. Your body is light years ahead of your emotional maturity.

All this said, Jared knew buying sex with 16 year olds was wrong. No doubt. He knew enquiring about sex with 14 year olds was wrong. And he knew viewing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 with the victims as young a 6 was wrong.

So he is a disgusting pedophile. For that last part alone.

18 is still a "teenager" and 18 is also the legal age for consent across the U.S. So yes, teenagers 18 and 19 can consent to sex, legally.

I sure as Hell did. Can we just say I enjoyed a rather hedonistic youth?

Why was my post quoted above? I'm not part of that particular debate and never commented on that particular topic.

sorry IDK how it happened.

My opinion is that his becoming thin using Subway provided an opportunity he wouldn't otherwise have had to become a national spokesperson, and with that opportunity, came a lot of money, fame, travel, and those all allowed him to more easily pursue whatever impulses he had. He couldn't have known he'd be the future spokesperson of Subway, but that's what happened. Sure, he could have delved into his dark impulses regardless of the Subway deal, but then again, we probably would never have heard about it.

Subway didn't make him a child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 collecting and soliciting perv. Subway only caused him to become famous and achieve wealth. His impulses are all his own, the fault of no one else.

I don't think he would need a lot of money to do what he is accused of doing. So, while we would never hear about it if he weren't rich and famous, I bet he'd be doing the same exact things. Leopard doesn't change its spots.

From the article: "UPDATE: INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A prosecutor says the $1.4 million in restitution that former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle will pay as part of his plea deal is "groundbreaking" because it will help each of his victims."

Witch, please. Groundbreaking my behind. This 'restitution' payment is a pittance. If I were a parent of these children, I would sue this 🤬🤬🤬 for everything he owns.

jesus, mary and joseph! Now I guess we're supposed to think he's so wonderful to help the victims? this whole thing is utterly disgusting!

I think the sordid details are soo depraved, that this is what JF's defense came up with to get a plea and keep it from being revealed. JMO

It seems to me that JF started his foundation to get Taylor paid while having access to children/victims. When we get more details on Taylor (I think some time in Aug)
more will be revealed.

ITA. Fogle hiring Taylor to lead the foundation was no coincidence.

I just hope that any additional cohorts of theirs are taken down with them.

OT:

With all due respect and no offense to you or to your Mother, this is simply not true. Even before we had resources available via the internet, ppl could research charities for their financials and then choose wisely. There are many worthy charities that have established foundations. In recent years, sites such as Charity Navigator and GuideStar make the research easy, plus you can view/download the 990s (tax returns) for these organizations and study them. I've been doing such work since 1998 for a 501(c)(3) foundation which gives to others.

Had someone suggested the Jared Fdn before the news of its founder was made public, I would have checked and discovered instantly that it was not suitable for contributions.

Peace :-)

Subway Jared's foundation was a sham: It never granted a single grant and more than HALF the money went directly into the pockets of his fellow 'pedophile' director

Tax records reveal that the Jared Foundation hasn't issued a single grant since it was announced in 2008

Meanwhile, the foundation has been spending just $73,000 a year

From 2009 until 2013, sixty per cent of the spending was on executive director Russell Taylor's salary

Taylor was arrested on child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges earlier this year

Another 26 per cent of spending is unaccounted for

Jared Fogle's squeaky-clean image as the Subway pitchman came crashing down when he pleaded guilty to child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges last week

So...its been almost 3 weeks since Jared Fogle's house was raided and nothing turned up. When does he get his life back?

Looks like....never?
