Indianapolis - The Marion County Prosecutor's Office has filed preliminary charges against four men in relation to the murder of two women and their small children Monday night on Hovey Street on the city's northeast side.
Two men were charged with four counts of murder each, two others face attempted robbery and conspiracy to attempt robbery charges in the deaths of Gina Hunt, 24, and her 23-month-old son Jordan and Andrea Yarrell and her four-month-old daughter, Charlii.

The fact that there was pot in the house doesn't mean that the moms should have been "prepared to pay" in a manner such as this. Drug usage is surely a risky behavior, but that doesn't mean they should've been prepared to pay like this.

There's no link of the murders to the drugs, is there? The pot was left there.

I agree to a certain extent. BUT on my local news they said this house was a known drug house and gambling house. They had also connected one of the dads to a HUGE coke bust in Indy as well.

There was drug dealing in the house and their boyfriends were dealers, maybe they were dealers, too.... this was not a case of just a little pot in the house for personal use.

When I first read about the shootings, I thought this was a robbery gone bad. But it was much more.
The mother's knew what their bf/husband did for a living. The drug business is a dangerous business.

The guys are being charged with robbery so what did they steal? I'm really surprised that they didn't take the pot unless they were looking for something else and found it. There has to be more to this story. Didn't someone say that they heard the guys say they wanted money and drugs? I wonder if they got the money that they were after? Maybe they had bought some bad drugs and were getting their revenge.

I would guess that the women were dealing too or at least had something to do with the "business." The drug business is a risky business. So many things can happen. It's a shame that these women were with dealers and probably involved too. They paid a high price for the life style. Didn't I read that the women with the little boy had two other kids? They must not have lived with her or were in school.

I have been up at Indy in the hospital with my cuz for the past month and I think that the whole state of Ind. has gone mad. My head is swiming with crap that I heard while I was up there. It is crazy, babies being thrown across the room, to pepole being shot. What in the world is going on in these crazy pepoles heads??? I hope and pray that I dont have to go back up there because it is so crazy. There was a woman that got mugged in the parking lot, it is not safe at all!!!

It is just sad that these babies have to pay for there parents mistake. It dont bother me as much if it is just a shooting because a drug deal gone bad but why do the babies have to pay??? The drug dealers can shoot each other all they want, heck I will give them a gun. LOL

I live in Indy and have followed this horrible case very closely. One of the jailed goes to court today for OTHER offenses. This was a drug dealing house AND a gambling house with a one way mirror in the back gambling room. These chics were dealing for their incarcerated SO's. They were burglarized in September but weren't shot to death then. This time they chose to use their own babies as human shields thinking no one would ever shoot their babies... well... you know the rest of the story. :furious:

ETA: here's the link. It appears he left a work release program a while back and never returned. So glad it took this kind of crime to finally get him for that. Indy is going to h*ll in a handbasket.

I still feel as though they are vics as well. Yes they were doing wrong, but I am sure they never thought they nor their babies would be killed. I feel for all 4 of them. It is such a sad story all around.

ETA I dont agree with your statement that they allowed their babies to be killed. I think that is a little harsh!

I don't know, Indy Gal. I beg to differ. I don't have children, but I have a dog a dearly love. I mentally tried to put myself in that position and I would make sure even my DOG was out of harm's way and would say "if you want to shoot and kill me leave my dog alone". I truly think they were using the kids as human shields thinking the gunmen wouldn't do it.

They DID beg for their babies lives. The men said so and even the BF who was on the phone heard her say "not my babies" I do not believe they used them as shields, I think they were trying to hide and were hiding their babies as well. I dont agree with their lifestyles but dont believe they really thought they would die or their babies would die, IMO.

That's one reason criminals are criminals in the first place - they think they can get away with it, that they're somehow better than others, too smart, too whatever to get caught or face the same consequences as all the other criminals.

After more thought, can you really believe that they didn't know the dangers of the drug business? Even we know the dangers and I assume that we don't live that lifestyle? Do you think they didn't know or hear of any other dealers getting "jacked"? They never heard of innocent children being killed in drug related crimes? -- think drive-by's, accidental overdoses, losing custody of kids because of criminal and/or drug activities. WE have certainly heard of all of those, as well as of entire families being killed over drugs.

No, I'm sure they didn't INTEND for their children to die. BUT they did intend to take the risk that their children COULD die because of the lifestyle they chose for themselves and their babies. They DID allow the circumstances that put their children at an extremely high risk.

Parents who punch and kicktheir kids, shake and toss their baby across the room, leave their little one in the locked hot car or a bathtub for "just 5 minutes", etc. probably didn't INTEND for their children to die either. But they're still responsible for the death of their children because any reasonably intelligent person knows that any of those actions can lead to death.

These horrible mothers allowed their children to be murdered, no ifs, ands, or buts. Maybe they didn't hold them up as shields, but that point doesn't matter because they still chose to put their babies at risk. HOW these babies died isn't the point either - they could have died because mommy left them in the car to make a quick drug deal, or because mommy left out the drug stash and baby decided to have a taste, or because they happened to be in the room when daddy's drug dealing competitors decided to drive by and shoot at the house, or because one of mommy and daddy's druggie criminal associates was visiting and decided to rape and strangle one of the babies while all the other adults were busy making deals and getting high. We hear about cases like this every day, there no reason to expect that people who actually live that sort of life didn't also hear or know of the risks.

Indianapolis - The suspects in the Hovey street quadruple murder case appeared in court Wednesday under heavy security. The families of the victims packed the courtroom.
Also, prosecutors have added a fifth name to the list of suspects.

at long last the murders of the 4 victims are being resolved, 3 of the defendants have so far pled guilty, yet to be sentenced, only 2 left to decide if they will plead guilty or go to trial
