"incestuous" images found on JP's computer in Utah

According to the detective on this case these were not cartoon-like or character like images at all. They were computer generated HUMANS and realistic life like images depicting parental incest. The detective stated that this made them even more disturbing. This was not anime or cartoon characters. This was computer generated people.

And JP was a computer programmer.

Well, it's helps, but not all cartoon depictions of child are illegal according to that statute. That statute came after one of the Ashcroft cases where the previous statute was really broad and swept into it a lot of stuff - cartoons, written material. The Supreme Court struck it down, so they came up with the statute you referenced. The cartoon images have to be "obscene." By its construction, not all simulated child is illegal, only those materials that are obscene or lacking value. So, say Lolita or a film which deals with child trafficking, if animated, written, etc. wouldn't get swept up into this statute.

Given the subject matter of what was found, I'm guessing that it'd be considered obscene under the statute, but not all animated material is.

Thousands of images of females being videotaped without their knowledge.

There were also 8mm cassettes, compact discs, and VHS seized- nothing about what was on those in the document. This was just the probable cause warrant, not all that was found. OMG!

I know this is not as bad as some of the Federal cases I have seen, but it is very bad. A reminder to keep curtains and shades pulled. I don't know how to block out creepy neighbors from seeing in completely, but try.

I just hope the family doesn't blame the internet, LE, or the media for this latest news. No one made JP do any of these acts, and each one seems worse than the next.

ITA! I was so incensed to read JP's cousin stating that JP was cyber-bullied and that led to this! Seriously? GMAB! I wonder what his sister will have to say when the shock wears off? I think there are a lot of skeletons in the family closet. JMO

I am not sure if that was the case - it may have been something like storing them on a cloud. My favorites alphabetized themself - now I am just going by memory - which is only so-so. When I find the link of where I read this original information - that will be better.

I am wondering too, but I have thought for a long time the family tree is a very "close" one. Guess we are going to find out that indeed it is/was, and will not be shocked, just saddened and sickened.

Oh - I don't know if this has been mentioned here.
Long also told the judge that Josh Powell has admitted that he takes photos of people's legs in public without their knowledge.
John Long, who is representing the Washington state Children's Administration, made additional arguments Wednesday about why the children should not be living in the home with Josh and Steven Powell. He said Josh's mentally disabled brother has answered the door in the nude in the past and is often nude inside the home.
