At least 23 persons have died in a fire at a popular nightclub in Goa, and there are tourists among the dead. The fire broke out at about midnight local time. The police believe the cause of the fire was a gas cylinder exploding in the club's kitchen.

There are new information about the cause of the fire, the gas cylinder has been ruled out, and instead it seems as it was the use of indoor fireworks that started the fire (as it has been in several other fires in nightclubs, like the fire in March 2025 in Kocani, North Macedonia - Up to 50 people feared dead in fire, Kocani, 16 March 2025 ) I can understand that performers, DJs, and others think that the use of fireworks adds extra to their act, but fireworks is not something that should be used indoors, there has been too many accidents already. 11 fires in nightclubs since 2001!

Four people have been arrested, and an arredt warrant has been issued for the owner of the club.

Two brothers, co-owners of the nightclub, has been deported back to India from Thailand, where they fled after the fire. A third co-owner has already been detained last week in Delhi.
