Tawni ran from Ma. Then ran from her mothers house five days before she was killed.
It is said she and somebody who looks like A.L. robbed her mothers home. I am her step sister from the Mazzone side. I do not know if it verbatim from her Mother Debbies mouth that she was robbed or not. I do not know if that is the reason she left her mothers house. She left Ma. Only a few SHORT MONTHS before she was killed.

That sounds accurate with where she wound up located.

I'm wondering if she was trying to get back to Massachusetts when she died. Even though their story massively lacks credibility and so little adds up, IF DeJong and Fernandez claimed they were headed to Miami, Tawni may have seen it as an opportunity to get somewhat closer to Massachusetts. Granted, Miami's not exactly a hop, skip and jump away, but in comparison to Phoenix, it's substantially closer.

Their whole story is full of inadequate tripe though, so I'm merely speculating.

I don't think by a long shot we have the whole story but we are closer. The ID of Tawni is going to give LE the opportunity to work backwards with her story:

We know she left her mother's care a short time before the incident that killed her. So how did she come to the attention of WW aka AF and LDJ? Tawni was a free spirit, but by all accounts did not just wander the streets willy nilly-if she left her mother's home did she stay with a friend? Do you see where LE can start to make connections?

Remember what WASN'T found at the scene-where did the purse go? Where was her ID, her luggage, things like maybe an address book-who had them and where are they now?

Think about the things we noticed-her fat lip and the bruise below her tattoo that did not look like road-rash. I am going to check in with the ME to see if any reports were done that reconstructed how she went out the window ETC.

I am going to keep the discussion regarding her injuries generic because the family is here with us. If we can keep that in mind for sensitivities sake that would be great!

She definitely had some issues and in the last months that she lived w/me & my family she was put into different programs that she had to stay at but could come home w/us on the weekends. These placements would have kept her safe and allowed her to come out w/at least a GED, which is basically a form of high school diploma. Of course she did not like this, and when her mother came here for a visit, Tawni convinced her to take her back to Arizona w/her. This was sometime in late August/early Sept. of '98. Her mother DID get robbed, but we cannot say that it was Tawni, or that she was w/2 men, or AF.

When the family is posting information about this lovely child, perhaps some thought might go in to what is important to leave on a public message board regarding Tawni's life up to the point prior to her disappearance.

JMO-But I think we have a good idea of the relationships, and family tree. I think any information we can use to link our perps to Tawni is important. Beyond that it is strictly up to the family to decide what family dynamics they want published regarding her life.....

I agree 100%. I am also a little wary of what is posted about the case and what is going on right now as anyone can see this, including the friends and family of all of the suspects. Other than the parts that are public knowledge, perhaps we should focus more on getting the actual facts from the case back in '99 and leave out some of our opinions and speculations as to what we think may have happened. Then it will be less confusing to try to put the pieces together.

Lack of communication has been huge between family. I have talked to you Kerry, I told you as far as her leavng for Arizona we thought she just fled.
Ran away. No confusion just lack of communication. As for her running away in ARIZONA again lack of communication. We never got the details of who she was with or what she was up too. I think its time her whole family spoke to one another so things in all areas can be cleared up.
I can not tell you how much it ment to me to find out that Tawni was living with all of you aside from the program. Your Mom made sure she had love, support and guidence from your side. Tawni is loved by all of her family I wish both sides would communicate.

From the police report, 3/15/99, LDJ interview:

"They stopped at a residence where William bought some marijuana and continued to ride around."

Even the police report mentions that both AF and LDJ stories changed several times.

In recent conversations with LE, LDJ says they stopped at a house, where Tawni went in, and came out with a bag.

LE is trying to determine the location of the house, and its owner.
