Did Jodi really say her father at one time, could bench press 525 pounds in court? My ex and son are big men and don't believe they could do that. Just curious since this is where I started watching this trial and thought, what?!

Looking at the old picture of her father I'd believe it is possible.

I'm a great advocate of the fine art of typing things out unless they are well-established abbreviations or acronyms such as the FBI.

As a newb here, I still have to stop and pause when I see someone write:

"IMO JA is just like KC but KT is no JB, but regardless of the DT they should have both gotten the DP, if only JM tried both cases, he would have won over either PD, MOO, and I wish JVM would replace NG on HLN because I'm tired of hearing about MM and RB, and IDK about DB, but I think he's an AATF."

JM2C, UC

The first two weeks I was on this board I used to keep the Urban Slang Dictionary open in another tab because I had to refer to it so often. But, of course, now I throw the acronyms around myself like I've done it forever. :floorlaugh:

I have an odd feeling about the way he is positioned in the shot that just shows his middle torse, I've never seen a man sit in a shower in that position, not that I'm a peeper or anything, let's just clear that up right now (being mindful of the company we keep in here :floorlaugh: ), but that appeared to be another 'accidental' shot to me, but try as I might I cannot see any blood spatter in the frame. odd, just odd... anyone else??

I totally agree! I think it was an accidental photo. I think she was going toward Travis with a weapon.

I just hope the jury gets this right.
Justice for TA.

Because he didn't file properly and timely. imo

You don't say?

Go figure. I don't know if he does ANYTHING in a timely manner. Except lunch.

I think Jodi told him she had photos and taped calls on her phone and offered to stop and let him check her camera and phone to make sure everything was deleted. She told him her other phone was lost so that would not be a problem.

She brought the check (knowing he'd never cash it) as an additional peace offering, but the phone and cameras needed to be physically checked by him.

MOO

He tried quitting. They wouldn't let him. (As a Southern woman, I'd NORMALLY throw in a "bless his heart" there, but, considering his atrocious assault on the victim in that courtroom, he'll not get any blessings from me!) :twocents:

I am sure he could have quit if he had come clean about his crazy client, at the beginning anyway. But once he was intuit, judge said no. He still could have told Jodi to fire him because he would not go along with self defense and smearing TA. He could have told her she is insane and demanded an insanity defense. But no, he went along with her plan. He is as sick as she is.

I joined the trial/case with JM beginning his cross of Jodi. Did the defense show the jury the actual "Travis Alexander's" t-shirt or simply Jodi's smiling pic of herself wearing it? The defense abuse expert will reportedly be using the t-shirt as evidence of Travis' "controlling" Jodi, but the Justice4Travis FB site says the back of the shirt says, "Being Better Blog" (Travis' site), and that it wasn't made for her at all. Was the shirt found and entered into evidence? Can't imagine JM not turning the shirt around for the jury if he had the shirt and Travis' blog site is written on the back.

JA had taken pictures of the clothing and that was entered into evidence. Not sure about the actual clothing itself.

I think, whether they were made for her or not, she LOVED wearing them. She was obsessed with Travis and she loved the feeling of being 'owned' by him. She wanted nothing more than to have him all to herself.

No more abbreviations from me. I've learned my lesson. LOL.

JM has been the subject of criticism regarding his conduct of the JA trial. Many of the Monday quarterbacks and “talking head” attorneys on In Session, NG, JVM shows have been very critical of JM.

I’m of the opinion that doing direct and cross exams in a live trial is very much a matter of style and personal preference. There is NO one way to skin a cat. “One size fits all” does not apply here.
Im sure every District Attorney has his/her preferred methods and these are based on style, personality, effects of past performance, and skill sets in place. This is true in running a business of being a politician and being a doctor. Anybody conducting the prosecution case of JA would be criticized because the observer feels “he knows better”.

JM has a certain style that is unique and for many very effective. JM is very unusual in that he doesn’t refer to notes and he has no legal assistants sitting with him at the table. Unlike Nurmi JM is very animated and passionate. Unlike Nurmi JM moves around and does not read from a pre written script.
JM has an excellent disciplined and highly trained mind. He on occasion gets flustered and gets lost in awkward sentences with tortuous syntax but he usually can take a deep breath and can re-🤬🤬🤬🤬 before firing again. JM is able to get into a “zone” where he implicitly knows where he is going and what expects to get out of JA. His use of sarcasm is deliberate since that is what is needed to chasten an overly arrogant JA. His brashness is deployed to counteract JA smugness and insouciance.

Naturally JM’s style is not for everybody. But JM is not competing in a beauty contest either. As a stark contrast to the elephantine, and painfully phlegmatic Nurmi, JM is a breath of fresh air and is likely welcomed by most if not all of the Mesa jury.

I have watched trials for 20 years and by far Juan Martinez is the best Ive ever seen. I never grow tired or get bored when he is asking questions. I am riveted. I even like it when JA goes off into the weeds and Juan doesnt let up and will jump right in the weeds with her to show by the end of their sparring match it is going to be him that is in control of that courtroom and not Arias.

In the link I have put up earlier on how to cross examine a sociopath Juan Martinez is doing a masterful job. Sometimes I dont think the THs (mostly defense attorneys) have a clue how a sociopath has to be cross examined differently. It is advised that the examiner let the sociopath go off on tangents so the jury can see the real person and how outlandish their testimony is.

It seems if the THs were actually aware of the correct way to cross examine one they would understand this is what Juan must do and is doing it perfectly right. I imagine this was exactly his style and demeanor when he cross examined Wendi Andriano and we all know where she resides today.:)

It has worked for him for over three decades and there is no reason for him to change.

IMO

I think one of her early Defense Attorney's was able to be excused from the case due to health problems (i'll check that court doc)

I can only imagine? Scared him or her so bad they started having seizures or something.. needed cardiac stents.

(and ps. i hope if whoever that was that was ill is fine)

Isn't an insanity defense only valid if you can find/hire a doctor to give his/her opinion that the defendant is in fact, insane? I wouldn't think it's much of a defense otherwise.

This very thing always bothered me, too. However, last week when JA testified Travis had told her he was getting signs from God he was supposed to marry Mimi Hall, things started to make more sense. We know Travis blogged about wanting to find a wife. We know Mimi told him she only wanted to be friends, which had to be difficult for him. We also know he was still trying to get over Lisa Andrews. So...consider his state of mind. He was probably depressed, lonely, maybe feeling sorry for himself. Along comes Jodi who pays him lots of attention and (ahem) affection, and maybe he was using her to make himself feel better. I'm sure he wasn't proud of it, I'm sure he didn't want anyone to know, and I imagine he still hated her and thought very little of her. But, she caught him at a moment of weakness and he gave into temptation. Makes perfect sense to me.

How could he have ever known what she was really there to do?

BBM

I've seen this mentioned before but I must have missed that testimony. When did he tell her this? Was it via text message, email or phone? Not that I necessarily believe he even said it as we can't believe a word that comes out of her mouth. But I'm curious about this. TIA

It so reminds me of my own son at age 3 when he ate the leftover cake frosting in the fridge. He was a very neat eater but left the empty container and spoon on the sofa. I asked him, "did you eat the frosting?" He looked up at me wide eyed and shook his little head "no mommy, I didn't eat it"... Lexi did!

Lexi is a dog... A spoon using, frosting eating dog! Lol

How dare you accuse your son when obviously your dog did it! :floorlaugh:
My kids like to blame whatever child is too young to talk in our house!

I think JA shot Travis while he was in the shower enclosure. He then came out like a bull after being wounded and JA had to finish him off with the knife. Went directly to the mirror to see the wounds to his head, got nailed in the back and down the hall they went.

Not to seem weird, in some pictures of Travis, he looks like my son. It really creeps me out.

I'm not sure how anyone, anyone who cuts another person's throat can be overcharged. Assassins have a name for it. It's called a "Columbian Necktie". And it certainly would not be considered a move you'd use to protect yourself from an attack. That is an attack of pure rage. jmo

ehhh that involves pulling the tounge through the slice in the neck. Slicing the neck alone isn't called that TMI i know :o Too many
mob movies

I'm listening to the testimony by dworkin regarding the computer evidence and the stuff he pulled off the damaged hard drive. Whose hard drive was that? Was it JA? If so, don't they find it rather suspicious that it was damaged? Now if it was TA's do they think JA damaged it? I'm confused.
