Interviews & MSM with/about friends, family, law enforcement etc...

Makes me sick. This case has reeked since the beginning and I'm sure it'll reek til the end.

I wonder how much soul searching Tammy is doing right about now.

I hope a lot. Like I said up thread, I seriously think the prosecutor could use this to their advantage. I'm sure she will want to go to the funeral. Make a deal sweetie. Tell them where Heather is, and maybe you can go say "bye" to daddy.

I have ZERO sympathy for any of them. :snooty:

Drew Peterson was allowed to say goodbye to his mother at the funeral home, before/after (can't remember which) he was sentenced (for the murder of Kathleen). I believe he only got about 5-10 minutes. For the life of me I don't understand why that was allowed. They should have told him he could go, if he told where Stacy was. Otherwise no way should he have been allowed! :gavel:

He was not allowed at the funeral itself. I believe it was the next day before the burial, he was alone with just her and the deputies that were with him.

Everyone has a rock bottom and, hopefully, upon learning of the death of her father, TM is rapidly approaching hers and will start talking soon. I feel awful for even thinking this, but I really hope they (the DA) uses this and the funeral as a bargaining tool to find Heather. The sad thing is, though, TM has now killed two people. She killed Heather and she killed her father. Nothing will convince me that the stress from all of the mess she's made did not exacerbate his already fragile health, expediting his death.

I don't understand that, at all. Why are these murderers allowed the very thing they're robbing their victim's families of...closure?

I don't think all murderers get to go to a funeral. Some do, probably the vast majority do not. And... neither TM or SM has been convicted of any crime yet.

It definitely could be as simple as that but you know how the rumor mill churns out misinformation. I have asked the person in my group for the link to info that there was a search going on and so far I am still waiting for a response.

I certainly do! I dislike misinformation with the heat of a thousand suns. Misinformation just causes more grief for everyone, and sometimes more work for LE too.

We probably won't know if there was or not. There probably wouldn't be a link, about a search if there was one, with the gag order in place, LE is included in the gag order, correct? Or is it just the attorneys? I'd think LE would be included.

People, including neighbors, have a way of noticing things like cop cars arriving at a residence and news has a way of getting out despite LE not saying anything. Depending on the time said cars arrived, that would help answer the question raised about a possible early morning search by LE.

But, think of this: would police show up to do a search and not have a CSI type tech with them?

Did an ambulance show up within a few minutes of a cop car arriving?

Those are the clues.

Or... maybe...just maybe... there was no search going on at the C's house this morning and the only reason cops were there was because there was a 911 emergency call due to Mr. C. collapsing. And if cop cars were at the C's house before any health emergency, doncha think someone would have noticed said cop cars and put something on social media given how quickly this kind of thing spreads?

Could it be as simple as that? ;)

Is anyone seeing any links or info that LE was actually at the house doing a search again this morning when WC passed? I am in a private FB trial watching group and someone there alerted me to his passing and said that LE was there searching the house again this morning when it happened. I can't find that anywhere, it doesn't look like Marshall Stanton reported that, just that there were emergency vehicles there.

Maybe the emergency vehicles made somebody think the property was being searched agan?

In the state I live in, an attorney may petition the court for their incarcerated client to be able to attend funeral services--convicted or not--and the judge rules on the petition and creates an order to allow sheriffs to transport the prisoner in the event it is granted.
I'm sure SC has something similar.

OMG, I was looking at her food posts on Disboards when her dad and mom were with them and I posted yesterday or today they were a heart attack waiting to happen. I was more talking about TM and SM, but the photo of that supposedly diabetic friendly dessert they gave her dad made me think he was not correctly caring for his diabetes.

Weirding me out.

What does this mean? "Indicates Matter Stricken" Since its a bill, it's not a law yet, right. Salem, do you know this?

A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 24-3-220 SO AS TO ESTABLISH A PROCEDURE TO ALLOW AN INMATE WHO IS CONFINED IN A DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS' FACILITY TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL SERVICE OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AND VISIT CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS; AND TO AMEND SECTION 24-3-210, RELATING TO FURLOUGHS FOR QUALIFIED INMATES, SO AS TO DELETE THE PROVISION THAT ALLOWS AN INMATE TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL OF CERTAIN PERSONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 3, Title 24 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 24-3-220. (A) Notwithstanding another provision of law, when the parent or parent substitute, sibling, spouse, child, grandparent, or grandchild of an inmate becomes seriously ill to the point of imminent death or dies, the inmate must be offered the choice to either attend the person's funeral service or, prior to the person's death, visit the person in the hospital.

(B) The inmate, or a third party on behalf of the inmate, must present verification of the person's relationship to the inmate and either the person's illness or death.

(C) The department shall provide the necessary security and transportation for the inmate. The department also may engage the services of the sheriff of the county in which the inmate is housed to provide the necessary security and transportation for the inmate. The department may collect a reasonable charge for the transportation. The charge may not exceed the actual expense incurred by the department or sheriff. This charge must be collected from a third party on behalf of the inmate or, if no third party pays, through a deduction from the inmate's trust account."

SECTION 2. Section 24-3-210(A)(5) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(5) visit or attend the funeral of a spouse, child (including stepchild, adopted child, or child as to whom the prisoner, though not a natural parent, has acted in the place of a parent), parent (including a person, though not a natural parent, who has acted in the place of a parent), brother, or sister."

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

I understand that, but I'm talking about these cases, in particular. Like Drew Peterson. He was allowed to go say goodbye to his mother and get "closure" all the while, the family of one of his victims still doesn't even know where her body is. And I feel no sympathy for TM or SM. Convicted or not.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I think people saw vehicles belonging to LE and assumed search before they knew of the passing of Mr. Caison.

No I understand but in Peterson's case, he was being tried for the murder of wife #2 (and not wife #3 for which he has not yet been charged). I'm not saying it's fair, just clarifying what the charges were.

Murder is never fair. It just isn't. There's nothing that can clear the deck and make it okay. And yes, inmates get rights that many wish they did not. The way to change that is to change the laws that give them rights and the way to do that is to work with legislators and draft a bill that can go to the state for a vote.
