INTL - Alessia & Livia Schepp (twins), 6, 30 Jan 2011 - Italy, Switzerland and France

I wonder if the Audi referenced below by the witness that is "like" Schepp's, is the same one that is referred to and pictured above, in the French article?

One witness has reported seeing two girls who fit the description in the ferry's play area, yet sniffer dogs and forensic experts scoured the ferry and found no biological traces.

Schepp disembarked on the morning of February 1, but it is unclear whether the girls were with him or not. A witness in Propriano reported seeing the girls in a black Audi like Schepp's that morning. Another witness reported seeing the girls at a bar with Schepp in the company of a blonde woman. The mysterious blonde woman remains the only hope left that perhaps the girls were left with someone.

At 6:30 pm on Tuesday, February 1, Schepp purchased a ferry ticket back to France and sailed back to the port city of Toulon. He then headed east, crossing into Italy the next morning, February 2.

New Info here, LE is looking for a SECOND CAR:

Swiss, French and Italian police met in Marseille Wednesday 16 February to compare notes. They say there is now a good probability that a second car was involved in Corsica:
“Based on the testimony of several witnesses who have come forward to French police and the gendarmerie in Corsica, it now appears likely that another vehicle, a large car, probably a station wagon, dark in colour and with Swiss license plates, was driven in Corsica in early February 2011. This vehicle resembled the Audi A6 station wagon driven by the father of the twins. Anyone who was in Corsica during this time and who had a vehicle corresponding to that of the twins’ father is asked to get in contact with Canton Vaud Police or French police.”
Swiss media 20 Minuten reported early Wednesday that the father’s tape recorder, rarely out of his sight, had been found, but according to police commissioner Jean-Christophe Sauterel in Lausanne, the machine has not yet been found.

Italian police say no trace of dead bodies found on father’s car

The Italian mobile police chief, Alfonso Fabbrocini, speaking in Foggia, says that the mud and vegetation found on Matthias Schepp’s car, parked near the train tracks where he committed suicide, are being analyzed. The one “comforting” point, he says, is that no trace of dead bodies was found on the car.

I have no idea what this site says, but look at these pictures of the $$ and the letters he sent to his wife.

If someone can read this, perhaps you could share if the pictures of the girls shown here, were also sent in the mail to his wife?

http://bari.repubblica.it/cronaca/2..._le_buste_con_il_denari_del_padre-12229338/2/
there is no mention of those pictures in that link you posted. You are referring to the black and white pictures, right? To me those look like enlarged photocopies (or scanned images) taken from their passports. (I read somewhere that the girls' passports where left at home in Switzerland). Or perhaps those photos are still in a photo album that the mother provided?

Picture # 2 looks like a picture taken inside the mailbox, shows the 2 letters that were found still in there. The postcard in there is not his (check out the rust, lol)

Picture # 1 shows two of the eight letters sent to Switzerland, addressed to Irina, for a total of 4,400 Euros of the 7,700 Euros that Matthias withdrew from an ATM in Marseille on Jan. 31st (caption under pics says stamped Jan.30, guess that's a mistake). Two of the letters were found at the train station in Cerignola, one containing 950 Euros, the other one 440 Euros (this is old news Wondergirl, we already read about this) These two letters were found still in the mailbox, because the mail at that station is only picked up twice a week. I can go on with all the specifics, but there is nothing mentioned in that article regarding the girls' pictures.

Could you please give me the link to the Italian article regarding the car? I can only see French articles, and that I'll leave to Waddles to translate :) I can only help with Italian and Spanish.

I sure do hope that this is not false hope.

Investigation of missing Swiss twins upended

By JOHN HEILPRIN, Associated Press Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 11:26 a.m.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Swiss police now say the missing 6-year-old twins might never have left Switzerland at all - throwing the entire investigation into doubt - and French investigators say they could even be alive.

Swiss police said investigators were now looking for a large, dark station wagon with Swiss license plates that was similar to the one driven by Schepp. Sauterel told AP that witnesses had reported seeing the Audi A6 in different places in Corsica at exactly the same time.

Yes, I realize the letters are "old news", but, I haven't seen any actual pictures of them, and thought others might be interested. I haven't been posting on this case, but have been reading along on it.

I am referring to the black and white photos (photocopies?), and did wonder if they were a prop for the news article, or something that Matthias actually sent to his wife in the mail?

As for my Italian reference, sorry about that! I was referring to the link with the letter pictures, not the Audi story. That link is translated from French.

I sure do hope that this is not false hope.

I am reading it as LE is now thinking all those 'sightings' in Corsica could perhaps be people that look like them (Matthias and girls) in which case, the blonde/light brown hair with highlights woman would be their mother.
I had mentioned that possibility in an earlier post, that if those people are tourists, they might not be even aware of all the commotion that is going on in that area, and had no idea it's them people thought were the twins. What are the chances that IF that is the case, those people would be driving a car that looks a lot like Matthias dark Audi? Coincidences do happen sometimes.

I have seen a video clip that shows the "manifesto?" not sure how it's called, I guess it would be the passengers' list, and the names of Matthias, Alessia and Livia can be seen highlighted in that list.

Will see if I can find that VIDEO link. Cannot seem to find it at the moment, but while looking for it, I came across these pictures of the "cabin" Matthias and (supposedly) the twins occupied on the ferry to Corsica. I am wondering if 'evidence' of the twins being there could be found, other than a few hairs, which I guess is not enough proof of their presence.

Here are the Pictures of ferry cabin: http://bari.repubblica.it/cronaca/2011/02/10/foto/gemelline_sul_traghetto_con_il_padre-12319976/1/

I know, all the car stories were in French :) no problem because there are articles in English already ... I guess the story is picking up more interest in the English speaking countries, so now the 'news' wont reach them one or two days later, but as soon as it happens.

As for the pictures, those are the pictures that have been circulating since the beginning Wondergirl, although we have seen them in full colour. There were many pictures of the girls in their Facebook group, but for some reason most of them have been taken down. There are still 8 pictures left there, and if you do an IMAGE GOOGLE search, you can find those there as well.

The pictures of the letters and the $$ have been circulating since the beginning?!

Here I thought it was a real find, lol.

I just thought they were interesting, I guess because LE here would not release pictures of such things, generally speaking.

Hopefully, this has not been posted yet.

The 3rd, attached, picture of the Audi that I posted upthread, with the plates "VD", looked like it had mud splashes on the bottom and side.

In other reported developments, none of them confirmed by investigators:

-French television TF1 reports that French police continue to search beaches in Corsica and spent Tuesday 15 February combing the area at the northern end of the island

-Macinaggio is reported by several media to have piqued police searchers’ interest, based on reports by a man in his 60s who claims to have seen Matthias Schepp with a blond woman in the passenger seat, in a parked, muddy car with Swiss license plates, near the harbour

-Police in Corsica are also checking wells and ancient furnaces among the ruins in Macinaggio, according to 20 Minutes.

-Ansa, the Italian news agency which has been closely following the story, reports that there have been no new elements.

Wondergirl, thought you were inquiring about the black and white photographs of the girls.

As for the letters and $$ photographs, if you scroll all the way down on the following link, you will notice the article is dated Feb. 08. Nevermind the date at the top, if you click on that link tomorrow, it will show tomorrow's date, if you click two days from today, it will show the day after tomorrow's date, and so forth ;)

If you click on the pictures gallery link, you will notice that in the URL address, the date Feb. 08 is up there as well ...
reads like: ttp://bari.repubblica.it/cronaca/2011/02/08/foto/gemelline.... ;)

BTW, :( sorry to burst your bubble, but that link to "La Repubblica Bari" has been posted by Irina on her FB page, and that is a well-known fact in the A&L FB group ... even a crazy theory (in the form of a dream) appeared over there, you know how it is with FB

Yep, that's mud alright, and Italian LE is now analyzing it. I guess it could tell where did he pick up that mud, since he for sure drove "la Autostrada" (link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autostrade_of_Italy ) in Italy.

Don't know if it is really possible, but from what they show on CSI shows, forensics can pinpoint an area/region according to residues of mold, seeds, rocks, minerals, etc., so let's hope they can come up with something.
So far Matthias has been ahead of the game, seems he thought of everything that could give away the girls whereabouts. Cellphone stops in Lyon, France. No text messages. No phone calls. Destroying the GPS. Telling Irina he was going to drop off the girls at school the next day at 7 am, while he was already on his way, etc.

I am wondering what results the French LE got about the blood they found yesterday on the rocks in Corsica... is it human blood or not?

P.S: sorry, cannot seem to make Wikipedia link work.

BBM: Very true, Hazel.

Why did he go to such lengths to hide the many, many places he travelled to?

Investigators now wonder whether Swiss twins ever left Switzerland

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND Swiss police now say that missing six-year-old twins might never have left Switzerland at all — throwing the entire investigation into doubt — and French investigators say they could even be alive. After spending weeks searching for the girls, Swiss police and the public prosecutor’s office in the canton of Vaud said Wednesday there is no way of telling whether any witnesses actually saw Matthias Kaspar Schepp whisk his daughters from Lausanne to Marseille, France, and then to the French island of Corsica and possibly to Italy. “Anything is possible now,” Vaud police spokesman Jean-Christophe Sauterel told The Associated Press on Wednesday night. “We can’t rule anything out. ”The surprise turn of events came as authorities held news conferences in Marseille and later in Lausanne. Investigators say they have been unable to confirm any of the alleged witness sightings of the girls since they were seen at 1 p.m. Jan. 30 playing with a neighbour’s child in their hometown of Saint-Sulpice, part of Lausanne, along Lake Geneva.

Until Wednesday, the search had focused on Corsica, where Schepp was thought to have brought the girls. He committed suicide in Italy on Feb. 3, police said.

Swiss police said investigators are now looking for a large, dark station wagon with Swiss license plates that was similar to the one driven by Schepp. Sauterel told AP that witnesses had reported seeing the Audi A6 in different places in Corsica at exactly the same time.

The sighting of the second Audi is “confusing the witness accounts,” Sauterel said. He added that it should, however, be easier to find the driver of the second car to eliminate its route from investigations as it was during a low tourist season.

Sauterel and Eric Cottier, the public prosecutor for Vaud, told reporters the implications of that include the possibility the girls never left Lausanne.
