Investigators search east of Skyline school

I take McCain's statements with a grain of salt. He is just observing that since there is a massive search going on, supposedly from leads developed from her and her friends, that it must mean she is opening up. Not that he has any direct knowledge of her saying *anything* in particular or at all.

Isn't he the one that thought June 4th was the last day of school?

I don't know if I buy the cell phone bit...if the friends told LE they bought the phones, then they probably knew the number, which is all it takes to get the records. And if it wasn't any of the known "friends" she was talking to, then who is the "mystery" person. I don't buy for a moment that LE could not have broke the ones we know about. And who is going to go traipsing through the woods to throw a phone away when any old dumpster would do?

  • #323
actually imagine what info could be gleaned from the cell phone...

jmhoo but I think they are searching for more than phones... "forensic evidence" though... they are looking for something connected to the case...

Yes.

I have the sinking feeling that they are just ... searching.

Someone who is guilty?

Well, if DeDe IS opening up I would have her in an orange vest and her hair up under a cap and have her out there also! Incognito.

LE and the prosecutors need to tell Ms. DeDe that the only deal would be if she were to lead them to Kyron, and even then not give her total immunuty.

I am so angry that anyone could know where Kyron is and not do the right thing. Sorry, I do know how all of this works and there are murderers who never give up the location of their victims. This kind of person deserves a very, very special place in h3ll. I am just so frustrated.
Please let today be the day Kyron is found!

I totally agree...I am madder than HELL-O at these women..IMHO...Both TMH and DS are pitiful excuses for women..JMO

And I want Kyron found yesterday...

You said exactly what I was thinking!!! If someone has admitted to having the phones and given the number then LE could obtain what they need from records.

Let me just say, I really felt that the throw away cells were used from the beginning; but, I never imagined this case would involve so many of TH's "friends". If any one of them called a regular number from one of those phones then their whole plan for getting the phones just went out the window.

I wonder if all of these phones have been accounted for? The only way that I can see that Kyron may be stashed would be for Terri and / or friends and whomever has Kyron to be in communication through such phones that LE may still be unaware of. IF Kyron is being stashed, he may be w/ someone that one of the friends knew that Terri did not even know to try to remove Terri even more from the person who has him. Did that even make sense?? :banghead:

IF Kyron is being stashed, he could very well be right under everyone's nose. He could be in a basement or something. Heck, Jaycee was kept in tents in the guys backyard for years and even though neighbors called in complaints LE never even bothered to check the backyard themselves!

I know this is far fetched; but, I so want to believe that Kyron is still alive somewhere! Although, w/ these searches, and if they are from info from DeDe, then the chances aren't that great. Some people have brought up some excellent points on animals and rain / streams washing bodies away. :(

IIRC, there is no landfill in Portland; trash is transported to eastern Oregon (this came out early in the case, on one of the first few threads). A dumpster would have been the place to ditch the phone.

Someone who thought suspicion would never come their way and even if it did, the elements would take care of the evidence for them? If there's been rain, Dede might think if they find the phone it won't make a difference if they can't get it to work. And her prints would be washed away by the rain, so it can't be connected to her physically. I bet none of them thought about LE being able to get detailed phone records, though. None of these women seem all that smart or have thought this through very much at all.

if I am understanding this correctly, the MSM is saying the searches are based on info/tips from DDS (paraphrasing). the searchers seem to be covering a bunch of ground. Is DDS just throwing out locations or what?

I LOVE this idea. We all know DeDe isn't going to give anything w/out immunity. I know that sometimes this has to be done even though it makes me extremely ill!!

I fully agree that DeDe should be made to be out there assisting searchers; and, if Kyron's body is found she should be made to look at the condition he is in and what they have done to this poor child!! I sincerely hope that IF Kyron's body is found that tons of photos will be taken and those involved be FORCED to view every single one of them!!! :furious:

ETA: Does anyone know if LE inspected and photographed Terri right after Kyron went missing? It would seem to me that IF she killed him and hid the body in this rugged terrain that she should have cuts and scrapes on her arms or legs. Of course, she could have been wearing long sleeves and pants; but, I would love to know if LE thought to examine her for any marks.

I think if she did have something to do with this, they should take her to a morgue or body farm and have her smell decomposing bodies. Maybe throwing up from the smell would take that smug smile off of her face. (I know that they can't do that, but I think it would have an effect on her).

Detectives could not tell us today what tips led them to research the area, or if anything was found.

Does that seem like they found something but did not want announce it so they just said..cant confirm or deny anything? If they didn't find anything, then why not just say it?

Means whatever thread they picked at and pulled led them to search again (which they should have done much earlier, IMHO) and that they didn't find one single thing. But they're aware that they aren't looking too good right now so they don't want to admit to not finding anything.

JMO.

Who ever did this had to be smart. I just can't combine that with trudging through the woods to ditch a cell phone...that's why I think whatever they are looking for, is not a cell phone. I'm sure there are phones...but not in the woods.

ETA...Saying you are looking for cell phones would be alot eaiser for DY and KH to hear....KWIM?

So let's suppose they find this throw-away bat phone. It's been buried. It's been out in the weather all this time. Dirt could seep in if the case wasn't totally sealed--then again, cell phones, at least the regular kind, can be opened to insert/change SIMS card. And then there's the openings for connections.

If they're just the average bat phones that are cheap, cheap, cheap, they're not going to have structural integrity to stand up to the weather, especially damp and rain. And who knows if their SIMS cards are actually anything but cheap, not-intended-to-last-long things? There *are* differences in materials used in making computer chips, SIMS cards, and also differences in how they're made (how skilled is the labor, how clean is the factory, etc.) and that would affect the overall durability.

If they're a cheaply-made device from overseas sweat shops, chances are that the components are cheap and shoddy, and that manufacturing environments aren't exactly clean room.

LE is well beyond grasping at straws, IMHO. They're praying for a set of twigs that will somehow arrange themselves to spell out the name of the perp and they're sure it starts with T. (sarcasm intended) From the get-go, their investigation has been focused on finding ways to prove that TH did something to Kyron vs. finding out what happened to Kyron in terms of multiple possibilities. JMO, of course.

As for Bruce McCain, shrug. He's working hard for his 15 minutes of fame and further chances to wind up on Nancy Grace or other shows. Might as well bring in any other ex-cop to speculate. He has no inside knowledge or connections, IMHO.

I was so afraid that they would find a body yesterday; that thought made me so sad. But turns out they haven't so far. And if they're putting everyone, especially the searchers, through this for one throw-away cell phone--they'll look really really dumb.

I agree with what you are saying and just want to make a note that I did not agree with BM that they could be looking for cell phones... I posted the link with a snip and if they do find a phone I am sure they would be very interested in what information was on it and hoping that it was not compromised/damaged.

ITA, why would they need dogs to find cell phones??
