MAN ARRESTED IN DUBLIN ON SUSPICION OF CHILD ABDUCTION AFTER TEEN FOUND IN BOOT OF CAR

A man has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction after a teenager was found in the boot of his car.

At approximately 7.30pm on Monday, gardai attached to the K District Community Action Team were on patrol in the Finglas area of Dublin when they observed and attempted to stop a suspicious car.

The driver failed to stop and the car was followed by gardai to Kippure Park where it was abandoned.


The occupants of the car fled from the scene and were pursued on foot. One of the occupants of the car, a man in his 20s, was apprehended.

A 14-year-old boy was discovered in the boot of the car by gardai.

A man in his 20s was arrested and is currently detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.


The investigation is ongoing.

The boy had been abducted by a gang of men on Hazelcroft Road

The boy had been abducted a short time earlier by a gang of men on nearby Hazelcroft Road.

The car was abandoned and four men ran from the scene but the driver, a 20-year old man, was arrested.

The man was questioned at Finglas Garda Station and is due at Blanchardstown District Court this morning.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to further offences.

Gardaí are searching for three other men and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Armed patrols have been increased in the Finglas and Blanchardstown areas because of an ongoing feud.
