Found Deceased Ireland - Michael Gaine, 56, last seen buying phone credit, Kenmare Co. Kerry, 20 March 25 *arrest*

I don't know, why a farmer should have been in town to get a phone or units to his phone, then returns to one of his properties, leaves his car and goes to the next slurry pit, falling "accidentally" into it. For my part, I would exclude an accident. MOO

So pleased they have managed to make an arrest. I was expecting him to be either on the run or ended himself

This will surely rule out those speculations that he fell into the slurry tank accidentally...And Gardai missed it during an earlier search. Prayers to his family at this time.

Just looking up previous articles that mentions the former marine and it said he was in his 60s

Does this rule him out if man arrested is his 50s ???

Glad for the arrest but man what an awful, awful update. That poor family and anyone involved in discovery and collection.

I don’t know that this would be the American but clearly someone very aware of the tank

I've been reading around and the consensus is that it's common knowledge among the farming community that bones should be prohibited from being put in slurry tanks due to its potential to clog the machine. That leads me to believe this suspect is extremely ignorant of farm equipment or at the very least slurry tanks. To choose the slurry tank as an area to dump MG's remains is what still perplexes me. Especially since the gardai completely drained one and partially drained the other. It begs the question, if this was truly an accidental murder or 2nd degree would the killer seriously go through all the trouble of hiding and even worse dismembering the body? Unfortunately, with the remains in the state that they are, I don't believe we will get clear answers without a confession. I'm hoping forensics will give MG the justice he deserves

"The arrested man (50s), who knew Mr Gaine (56), had been spoken to by gardaí informally as part of the initial missing person’s inquiry and again after the case was upgraded to a homicide investigation last month. The man had permitted gardaí to visit his accommodation and examine it, negating the need for a search warrant at that time."

It's worded weirdly as in" his accommodation "and apparently the suspect moved from kenmare 2 weeks ago . I wonder prehaps did the intial reports get the age wrong of the man living on Mike's land

I suspect that is the case. He could be mid/late 50s...mistaken for 60s. Hence why being vague with his age imo.

<modsnip - discussing removed posts>

Why the hell was this overlooked, it is another shameful 🤬🤬🤬🤬 up by garda . Surely these kind of things should be the first two points looked at .while I believe Mike was dismembered immediately after his killing on the Thursday, for the family there could have been closure and arrests quicker imo

Just shocking and a blatant disregard for thoroughly searching any and all areas by those in Authority.
