Found Deceased Ireland - Michael Gaine, 56, last seen buying phone credit, Kenmare Co. Kerry, 20 March 25 *arrest*

Interestingly he was not obliged by the courts to pay child support . America is usually stern on alalimony.
I wondered about this as well, but aside from a Google deep dive I have absolutely no familiarity with family/divorce law in Maine. Presumably, because he appears to have already been somewhat off his rocker, Kelley had no income at the time of the divorce. I wonder if its possible there could've been some sort of arrangement reached where she kept the house outright in lieu of child support? Thus leading to him ending up homeless in Kerry perhaps? I don't know, I'm purely speculating.

I wonder was he discharged from the marines for misconduct and therefore not given a pension . I'm not familiar with how that works in America as I'm not from there but it seems to me he was suffering mental health issues for a long time .

I've read some accounts or case studies where people join the forces because they have a desire to kill or have delusions of wanting to prepare for imaginary enemies prehaps he has undiagnosed schizoid or paranoid mental health issues

The Irish Sun - latest news, sport, celebrities and videos 'Sadly missed' Mike Gaine to be buried in 'private resting place' next week

So sad 😞 rip Michael 🙏

Mike will be buried in a secret place . I wonder is it not being announced because of the investigation and prehaps if more forensic evidence is required they don't want a killer who murdered in such a chilling way and they dont know what other sick things that he could do that LE and family are leaving nothing to chance .

Interestingly at the end of the examiner article it states police have not forwarded a file to the dpp following Kelley"s arrest .

"In my opinion, if President Higgins went missing for 24 hours, you wouldn’t have seen that, OK? So whatever is going on up there is connected at the very high levels of power in this country because it would have taken the very high levels of power to inaugurate a search of that magnitude that quickly. This is not something that evolved or grew into a big search. This is something that started as the most intensive search ever carried out in Ireland. Starting at 24 hours and one minute after the guy was last seen."

This article states he left the military as he objected to the Gulf War. Interesting if true.

Many details about MG and his character and life.
I really hope they nail his killer and justice is served . What a sad ending for a man so full of life and such warmth to give to humanity. Wiped out by some cretin who is lower than a snakes belly . Let's hope it does become another Sophie

t was only then that gardai fully investigated the slurry tank on Mr Gaine's farm where more of his body parts were found.

Gardaí believe that his killer cut the body into pieces that were so small, they were able to push them through gaps in the grill that were just a few inches wide.

This would have meant that the murderer spent many hours cutting the body apart and it is then believed he used water and disinfectant to remove forensic evidence from the scene.

As to why the slurry tank was not fully inspected in the early stages of the search remains a mystery and will no doubt will be probed when the review of the investigation takes place.

But on the face of it it appears that the lessons from the infamous “Mr Moonlight” murder case - when another killer Patrick Quirke hid the body of love rival DJ Bobby Ryan in a slurry tank - had not been learned.

I'm always dismayed when I see the need for a review in a case . Those careless mistakes cause untold pain for families whom may never get full closure and it allows the perpetrator to walk free and literally get away with murder .

I know LE are only human and humans make mistakes but when it comes to murder or a person going missing out of character, the very least you would expect is them to be meticulous in their efforts . I think the lack of common sense will come at a high cost in this case and of course the famous " lessons will be learned " will be wheeled out . But what good is that to a family seeking truth and justice.

I think it's important for LE to not become overly confident in their abilities best to stay unsure that way like a student / apprentice you will check and recheck before you move on to another task . Maybe then they may truly be able to say lesson learned

How sad and heart wrenching is that picture . How hard it must be for Mike's family . It would reduce the hardest of us to tears . I can not believe the cruelty . And to think the suspect will get his wish of staying in ireland while an incompetent police force investigate this case . The authorities are hardly going to sign his deportation papers while he is under the eye of suspicion or are they ??

The man who denies killing Michael Gaine says his past as an experienced ‘meat cutter’ isn’t relevant - because whoever dismembered the Kerry farmer didn’t need his skill.

The Irish Mirror learned in recent days that US native Michael Kelley (53), who denies murdering and chopping up well-known farmer Mr Gaine on his land in Kenmare, worked for over a decade in the US as a butcher.

Asked about that, self-admitted murder suspect Mr Kelley exclusively told us that he worked “in the capacity of a meat cutter in the United States,” adding that he also worked previously as a mechanic, builder and in commercial fishing.

There's only so many times you can keep saying 'I didn't murder that man' before people start thinking you did murder that man. MOO.

The way he describes Michael's body parts as property is weird also.

I think he did kill Mike and he has some form of disassociated personality disorder as well as just being a plain old psychopath . He gives me creepy vibes . Don't like him at all and he always deflects away from questions that ask about his thoughts or relationship with Mike by citing reasons that don't make sense or some other mumbo-jumbo crap .

I'm prepared to die on the hill of him being 100% the killer . Evil , narcissistic, cold hearted 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 . Hope LE nail him to the wall . A ** ⛳️ of the highest order

It’s very interesting. I live on a farm. We don’t have a slurry pit, but lots of friends and neighbours do have them. I would have absolutely no idea how big or small human remains would need to be in order to fit through the mechanisms of a slurry pit and tankard. It’s very obvious that whoever did this, unless they were just very lucky, had to have solid knowledge of the pit and machinery used on Michael’s farm. JMO

I also just still can’t get over the huge amount of forensic evidence that must have been created. And yet there is still no obvious crime scene that seems to be being investigated. I don’t think water and disinfectant would do it. Mr Chattypants Lodger also doesn’t strike me as especially organised and methodical. Maybe they just haven’t found the spot yet. I don’t know.
