Is Caylee Already Scared Here?

My opinion is the same as a lot here--- she seems like any child at a nursing home---a little freaked out but normal.

For me its hard to watch that video knowing it was close to her last days , and how sweet and 'obedient 'she was at giving her great grandpa hugs and love.
what a sweet little girl.

I hope Casey starts to feel SOMETHING for anyone but herself by now, or somehow 'learn to' and is haunted by the Caylee's beautiful face and all that she could have been for the rest of her days and hears Caylee's sweet laughter as she tries to sleep, and I hope sleep isnt coming easy.

I do remember seeing a video where Caylee is pushing KC away and I think she hit KC. KC trying to play with Caylee.........that is when I had a feeling that Caylee didn't want to play with KC.

I was just looking at the Video of Caylee with her Great-Grandfather on Father's Day and, to me, she looks scared in this video. Does anyone think that she has already been traumatized at this point? She has such an apprehensive look in her eyes when she's looking around that it haunts me.

Did Casey go with Cindy and Caylee to vist that day and, if not, where was Casey that day?

I have a feeling that something bad had already been happening to her when this video was taken.

My husband is forced to watch NG with me everynight...LOL! and the only thing he will say is "there is something wrong with that child in that video she looks scared to death! then he says that LE should be looking at that video!" He says it everytime it comes on. I would have to agree.

Desdemona comes from the Greek dysdaimon or "ill-starred." Desdemona is a Latin version of this and usually translated as "unfortunate" - very appropriate, isn't it?

The person who put them videos up is a person named (Desdemona) is that ca that did that? Just wanted to know looked up the meaning is above!

If you looked up (Desdemona) on my space its is like call girl stuff! Didnt no If anybody has paid any attention to that or not?

actually, Desdemona was Othello's wife in shakepeare's play Othello. Othello had been set-up to believe that desdemona was cheating on him (he smothers her and at the end later finds out it was not true, she was faithfull)...it is from here that we get the quote " jealosy the green eye monster that mocks the meat it feeds on."

I think alot of people may be forgetting that this is only PART of a much longer video which includes this:http://www.wesh.com/video/index.html
Caylee singing the lyrics to the Sunshine song, all on her own, very spirited and lively, as well as the part where she is reading the book (different link). All of that is part of the same video. These people had to drive to Mt. Dora, which is about 45 minutes to an hour away. No sure how long they were there, but for most of the video(s), Caylee looked fine and happy. Not drugged or scared at all. I was a pre-school teacher for several years as well as a daycare worker. I had kids that were ages two to three. Very, very often, every day, in fact, I had two year olds and three year olds that would come and sit on my lap and snuggle with me for several minutes, some times 10 or more. Depended on whether they were tired, or feeling cuddly, wanted reassurance, whatever. The kids loved me and liked to sit with me. I have alos seen many of my relatives or my friends' kids' at that age sit with mommy or daddy or grandpa, etc., like that. Isn't that just one of those normal, quiet moments you cherish when you get to steal a short period of calm admist the whirlwind that is usually created by a toddler? I just think she loved grandpa, may have felt a bit tired at that moment, may have been trying to understand grandpa and why he sounded and reacted as he did (not the same as most of the adults around her) and, she was concentrating on the cues she was getting from CA on how to show her love to grandpa, as many, many kids do at that age. She was approaching 3 years old, an age when developmentally, toddlers are extremely eager to please their parents (I know, you all had or knew one who threw hideous tantrums and did not care what you thought, at that age, but that does not change where their overall mindset it at age 3), and tend to notice and/or look for cues on behavior. What is sinister here is that we know this baby likely died the next day, so the sweetness of the moment, the context of the video with such a melancholy song about missing a lost love, the poor, sick grandpa never being able to hold his great-granddaughter again like that, etc, becomes significant. Some may say there was a sort of premonition in both their souls at that moment, of the short time they had/have left on the earth and I will not negate that. You never know. Either way, the video is a solemn foreshadowing of what came next but I think it does not reveal any signs of past abuse or fear of CA, KC or anyone else at that time.

I thought the same, I have 4 children and I have done the nursing home thing with them. Its not the funnest place for a child. I remember seeing people lined up in the hallways in their wheelchairs waiting for someone or anyone to come and visit. It was quite sad actually.

My great grandfather went in and out of different eras in a moments time telling me about different people who had visited him (they were already gone), thinking he was on his ranch when he was younger at one point and then the next crying because he realized where he really was in his life the next.

More grasping at straws that are not there. IMO

She had real fear in her eyes and it was NOT of him.

Agreed! I just wonder why no one ever comments on her "Ohhhh Noooo" at the end of the video? Who was there that made her say that? It is very unsettling. This is right after reading her book.

This child was being neglected and abused for several weeks before her death, when Casey had her in her sole custody. I have no doubt there was a vibe of confusion and unhappiness there. I just don't see how the grieving GM allowed this to go on. I would have just taken her and kept her and told KC to go get the cops if she wanted and we will see what I can do. I doubt KC would have called the authorities at that point. But I guess that was the problem in that family, KC told them what to do.

have to agree here...those places are scary no matter what age you are. I have teens and they were shook seeing their grandma & they knew what to expect---theres a lot going on in and around those places.

Yes, Turbo, it's like she felt secure with GGP but was looking around apprehensively.

I totally agree! Caylee looked apprehensive when she was looking around. After watching the video numerous times I think she's listening very closely to GGPa singing. She does not look reluctant to hug him and kiss him. She even inquires into whether he's tired or not in the next video. I don't think she was scared of him. Maybe Caylee was apprehensive because maybe Cindy was a bit miffed about the stealing situation? Kids pick up on when adults are out of sorts.

To me, she looks so apprehensive. Her eyes are darting around like she's scared.
Totally agree, it's all in Caylee's eyes, she seems apprehensive, very guarded & is just clinging to her great-grandfather, she senses danger & seeks comfort, poor baby knew something to be so frightened, it's heartbreaking must have been like a nightmare for her, very subnormal for such an exuberat child & very telling...

If only Cindy could have had the foresight that day to refuse to let Caylee leave with Casey. Was this visit before or after the screaming match they had? I wonder what the circumstances were when Casey left with Caylee the last time. Did she just grab her and leave, did they leave on friendly terms or what? I'm very curious about that last parting.

NO! Others have already proposed that scenario and overwhelmingly the opinion is that she is NOT "scared" or "traumatized." Possibly tired. If she was "scared" or "traumatized" would she have hugged and kissed him?

If you really wanna cry your eyes out:
(Notice the parts in bold - I always thought Casey killed her because Caylee loved Cindy most and wanted to be with her). They oughta pipe the recording of Caylee singing this into her jail cell. Especially the "Please don't take my sunshine away"

You Are My Sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away

The other nite, dear,
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear,
I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried.

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

I'll always love you
And make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me
To love another
You'll regret it all some day
;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

You told me once, dear
You really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you've left me
And love another
You have shattered all my dreams;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

Louisiana my Louisiana
the place where I was borne.
White fields of cotton
-- green fields clover,
the best fishing
and long tall corn;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
Crawfish gumbo and jambalaya
the biggest shrimp and sugar cane,
the finest oysters
and sweet strawberries
from Toledo Bend to New Orleans;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

I disagree and there have been quite a few people in agreement with me. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that, but IMO she was definitely apprehensive about something. You can see it in her eyes.

She was scared to be in a nursing home period, not a fun place for kids to go.
Would she be reading her book if she was apprehensive? JMO

Watch how long her eyes go without blinking. And how big they are. The children I've seen sleepy - close their eyes, act different.

I still say she's either affected by something (wearing off a drug?) or scared. She looks miserable. But not sleepy for sure.
