Is the criminal investigation of LA a red herring?

just my random thought...I don't get the whole "right to not incriminate oneself" law. I just don't. it's stupid. if you violated the law, you should have to tell the TRUTH even if it means admitting you violated the law, and if you did violate the law, well you should be charged. can any legal eagles expand on the basis for the "right to not to self-incriminate" thing?

The very brief answer is to minimize the states ability to bully a confession out of someone and then use that confession to convict someone. We set higher standards than the countries that allow that, the evidence needs to be able to stand on its own, or you needed to have made a confession of your own free will.

Bullying!!! Exactly. How they ended up charging a person with murder1 before they even had a case ready to go. Ridiculous. It would be a lot better on the police if they had waited to charge until they had something to charge.

By the way, I do crossword puzzles constantly when I am not on here. I think a puzzle is like a case. You work it one word or clue at a time until you finish it no matter how long it takes. (I work them in ink and never quit until they are completed.) I take the same approach to our UIDs, missing cases, and others here. There is a running joke about if someone were to take in our computers for analysis and the horrors they would find we have researched in various cases! We are not normal people. LOL

You won't hear me refer to that "other" case in connection to this one.

oh trust me I know that about myself already... if my friends only knew that I was spending my free time matching UIDs to missing persons...they already think it's funny when we discuss what we read for leisure and they say "I'm reading The Devil Wears Prada" and I say "I'm reading a book about forensic examination of mass grave sites in Rwanda." ...guaranteed to bring silence to any dinner party conversation!

also, fyi to all you sleuthers: a good way to creep out your friends is to tell them about all the level 3 sex offenders you pulled up on the registry that are currently living near them. consider that your April Fools Day prank this year!

Seriously Off Topic: Are you kidding? I do printouts and hand them out periodically. ;) To me, it isn't a joke.

However, one prank I do enjoy is to see on my neighbor's driveway chalk outlines of "bodies" complete with fake crime scene tape. This always gets them going on the morning of April 1st. hehehe (I have many more where that came from, too.)

The evidence went before a GJ and 12 plus people determined there was enough to charge for First Degree Murder AND Manslaughter with Aggravating Circumstances. The SA were waiting to charge based on the outcome of what the GJ indictment allowed. I would say that is more than adequate.

How about saying "I'm reading about Devils in Rwanda who wear jackboots and the forensic information that may help stop them."

I am following someone on myfox that took pictures of the stuff outside the house that he abandoned. Some odd picture was found and LE was given a bunch of stuff or took a bunch of the items. Curiousity has me as I wait for her/his pictures to be approved.

I finally got around to viewing the pics. FOX hadn't yet approved them. They were finally loaded into a photobucket account. A big nothing if you ask me. Actually, a poster that LA was tossing was taken over and placed in front of the As. I think that was totally unnecessary. The interesting tidbit is that LA HAS moved out. Other "bloggers" found it fascinating that he was having the carpets and tile cleaned. I kept thinking that was appropriate as it was a rental. He paid in cash and didn't give his last name- according to a blogger. Well, I probably wouldn't either if I was him. It seems he wanted the cleaner to do a thorough job...make sure he got the corners. Again, that was being a responsible tenant if you ask me. It wasn't a total waste of time heading off to unchartered territory (for me anyway). It made me realize how different people's perceptions of the same incident can be. I wonder if this is a red herring. I'm going to take the time now to step back and try to look at this with new eyes.

For those interested.

Yes, cleaning a place up is important, especially if you want your deposit back.

I think the charges are real, albeit an attempt to get the A family to go AGAINST their daughter. Good tactic, IMO. Don't think they all want to go down, particularly LA.

OK, that's psycho.

electro shock therapy for these folks..............all 4 of the 'A' family are nuts!!!! MOO

You should have seen the things hanging in my younger brother's apartment. He called it art. It was mighty pricey stuff. Lucky me (said tongue in cheek), I inherited some of it. Just have no desire to hang it. It doesn't quite go with my country decor.
This is a "no biggie" IMO.

What would have really been good if KC had been a good mom and
actually taken care of and looked out for her daughter .

Considering the fact that Lee was privy to information from casey before LE arrived, the secrecy in what they said to each other on video, the subtle mumbo jumbo-it would make sense for Lee to be charged with accessory or obstruction in the future. If Caylee had been kidnapped and the truth had been told, there would have been no need for all this secrecy and bizarre behavior. His attorney making a public statement about impending charges is as whacked out as the case itself. This is being labeled a "forensic" case- when it should be called the mother of all "media" cases. Theres an undercurrent about this case that I cant quite name yet.. OJ was at least a celebrity, why has this particular case drawn such attention? Its an interesting thought.

I can see clear obstruction by each family member (sans KC) ~

LA - picking up KC's laptop from TonE's and then deleting "who knows what" before LE got their hands on it. LE knows he did this.

CA - washing clothes, knife and whatever else she found in the trunk, and perhaps trying to clean the trunk of the Pontiac itself.

GA - "mis-truth" in statements to LE about the last time he saw Caylee, potentially helping CA to clean the trunk, etc., etc.

I see them all going down at some point. Whether it is before, during or after KC is tried and convicted I'm not sure, but I think the clock is ticking on all of them....

Just great! LA is moving - how convenient! LE never searched his house and/or yard and now he's having it "professionally" cleaned??? Oh well, if there WAS any evidence there, slim to none chance of finding it now!

Seems to me that if they were thinking of charging him (and I hope they are planning to), I would think they would have searched by now!!!! YEESH!!!! Did anyone ever ask him if Caylee had EVER been to his house???

That was my first thought when I saw those photos of the stuff he tossed...where is the SW when you need one for the actual house before he cleans it too well?!
