The armed wing of Hamas says it discussed with Qatari mediators the release up to 70 women and children hostages in Gaza in exchange for a five-day Israeli ceasefire, Reuters reports.

Israel has rejected any possibility of a ceasefire until the release of all 240 of the hostages.

Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for al-Qassam brigades, said Hamas also wanted the release of 200 Palestinian children and 75 women it says have been “detained by the enemy”.

“The truce should include a complete ceasefire and allow aid and humanitarian relief everywhere in the Gaza Strip,” he said in an audio recording posted to the group’s Telegram channel.

He said Israel was “procrastinating and evading” over the proposed deal.

Hamas was founded in 1987.
Earlier was war with PLO.

After Hamas there might be: Kamas/Ramas/Ciamas - choose the name.

As one Israeli said (in a link I sent upthread)
Hamas is ideology.

Solve the problem/anger/hopelessness
Then
You will fight ideology FOR GOOD.

Well, who has stolen the multiple billions of dollars sent to the Palestinians? Who has told them to hate Jews? Who has left the people with no choice but to support Hamas and war (or else your family will be killed)? We know who those people are. They start in Gaza but those responsible reach to Beirut, Doha, and ultimately to Tehran. One side seeks peace, one side seeks war. Millions are caught in the middle. But don't blame those that seek peace.

All those 'Israeli Sniper" reports that Al Jazeera put out there as coming from "Doctors Without Borders" that are taking a foothold now throughout SM?? DWB never claimed that at all. Sigh.

That's not what DWB actully stated:
Here's the very original tweet from them:
#GAZA At the time of writing, our staff are witnessing people being shot at as they attempt to flee the Al-Shifa hospital.

This is insane 1. Doctors Without Borders claims people fleeing Al-Shifa hospital are “being shot at,” but they don’t say who is doing the shooting 2.
@thehill blames Israel for the shooting, but their only evidence is DWB’s original claim—which never ID’s the shooters!

Palestinians trying to exit Gaza's al-Shifa Hospital are being shot at by Israeli forces, Doctors Without Borders report. LIVE updates: http://aje.io/lqkn1r

WATCH: Several terrorists with two RPG launchers shot at IDF soldiers from the midst of civilians in front of the Al-Quds hospital in Gaza City. More details: http://bit.ly/3sx94nm

A U.S. Intelligence Official has now stated that the Evidence provided by Israel which claims a Hamas Command and Operations Center is beneath Al-Shifa Medical Center in Gaza City is True, further stating that the Fuel provided to the Hospital is often Stolen by Hamas Fighters who Regular Stage and Gather around the Hospital in order to use the Facility and its Patients as “Human Shields.”
https://twitter.com/sentdefender/status/1724155368685609220

“It is dangerous for us, even the medical staff, to look out the window. We are so afraid of the shooting.” Amid fears of sniper fire, hospital staff have moved all 600 remaining patients away from the windows and into corridors deeper inside the complex.

The hospital, in the west of Gaza City, has already endured six strikes over the past two days as Israeli tanks and snipers closed in, Abu Sada [the head of surgery at al-Shifa] said, including one that struck an extension to the intensive care unit on Sunday.”

The lives of premature Gaza babies hang in the balance

Tulip Mazumdar
Global Health Correspondent

The lives of dozens of tiny premature babies, shown to the world huddled together on surgical beds, hang in the balance.

Due to an outage of fuel at Al-Shifa hospital, clinicians there say the babies have had to be removed from one of their key lifelines - incubators.

Incubators are small beds enclosed by clear hard plastic that can re-create the conditions inside the womb. They can also support all the additional care these vulnerable babies need because they can be used in combination with procedures such as delivering food, medication or blood through an intravenous tube.

Without this specifically controlled environment, many premature babies (defined as those born before the 37th week of pregnancy) might not survive, particularly those born a few months early.

Around 1 in 10 babies are born prematurely around the world. Approximately 900,000 died in 2019 because of complications according to the latest figures from the WHO. This mostly happens in places with poor healthcare in low-income countries.

Breathing can be a particular challenge for babies born early as their lungs are not fully developed. Depending on how premature a baby is and other medical factors, they may need oxygen or, in some cases, to be put on a ventilator which can breathe for them. But ventilators need electricity. If power goes, some babies can be helped with their breathing manually, but this would require a dedicated person doing that 24/7.

Israel says it would help evacuate babies from the hospital to a "safer" facility, however moving premature babies in general, let alone in the middle of a war zone, can be fraught with danger. In the UK, there are specialised neonatal transport services, where babies have specifically adapted transport incubators to ensure minimal movement.

The charity ActionAid says three new-born babies have died since Saturday after their incubators had to be turned off at Al-Shifa hospital

The WHO has once again called for an immediate ceasefire.

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts the mobile hospital has many adult and neo transport.
I bet Egypt, has plenty of portable neonatal ventilators.

Where are the transport vents previously used to transport between hospitals. Surely they didn't call in a company from the UE every time an infant born needed transport to a larger facility.

This is all 100% propaganda and medical professionals know this. It's a ruse to delay evacuation.

What are they doing now they have no electricity? Did they all die? Hoping the media can ask more detailed questions to get an update on their status.

Objection!!!

I have never blamed anybody who tried to seek PEACE.
Quite the contrary!!!!

As my posts here are proof.

The protest in front of the Consulate today was not about peace. Those who publicly support Hamas, a designated terrorist organization who murdered 1,400+ Israelis on Oct. 7, rip down American flags, and chant “from the River to the Sea” -- a call to annihilate the State of Israel -- do not represent peace. We are overwhelmed by the endless support for Israel by millions of Americans, Jews and non-Jews alike. We are looking forward to tomorrow's March for Israel in DC, the largest rally for Israel in decades.

No negotiations with IDF over evacuations - Al-Shifa doctor

Dr Mohamed Abu Selmia, manager of the Al-Shifa hospital, has told the BBC about the deteriorating situation at the hospital, where in recent days 32 people have died.

He said among them were three premature babies and seven people who died due to a lack of oxygen. Several other patients who need dialysis risk dying in "the next couple of days" as the treatment is no longer available, he said.

The BBC asked Abu Selmia if the Israeli army had made any contact regarding the evacuation of patients or premature babies.

He replied: "No, they haven’t reached out, instead we reached out to them... but until now we have received no response. There are negotiations regarding evacuating premature babies but until now nothing has happened."

Abu Selmia said the hospital has been in touch with the Red Cross to try and co-ordinate the burial of the bodies, of which there were about 150 in the hospital - but was told that was currently not feasible. He added - detail which some readers may find distressing - that dogs were eating the corpses.

He repeated the call for the IDF and the Red Cross to help evacuate patients: "We don’t want any of the patients... to die, we want them alive, we want them to receive the medical care they need in a place that can provide them," he said.

March for Israel organizers are expecting as many as 40,000 to 60,000 people to turn up for the event from 1 to 3 p.m. Road closures begin Monday ahead of gates opening Tuesday at 10 a.m.

"[The] November 14th event will bring together communities from across the country to show strong solidarity with the Israeli people, while demanding the immediate release of the remaining hostages and to condemn the rise of antisemitism," The Jewish Federations of North America said.

I hope this will peaceful.

I hope you are right—though they may have just been moved and picture taken prior to bundling. No way to know for sure.

How horrible! The babies without any coverings may already have fevers/infections.
One of my children was a preemie and it was an emotionally devastating time for us and we weren't in a war zone. smh

Why should Israel settle for "up to 70 hostages" in exchange for 275 detained Palestinians and a five day ceasefire?

The Free Palestine March in DC was very peaceful. There was a huge turnout, including Jewish citizens who were also calling for a cease fire.

“Pedro Kremer, 48, was raised Jewish in Argentina and now lives outside D.C. He says he was taught that Jews seek justice "everywhere and for everyone."

"What is happening right now is the farthest that justice can be," he said.

“His stance, questioning Israel's leadership, has created a rift between family and friends, he says — even his best friend, who called him antisemitic. Kremer, who pushed his baby in a stroller during the march, said there's no difference between the value of his son's life or that of a child living in Gaza.”

Premature babies don’t really wear clothes at the start and it’s very normal for them to just be in nappies. There are many reasons for this. They have very delicate skin so handling needs to be minimal, temperature control is easier to control this way and also they have many intravenous lines.

The shouldn't and I don't think they will. This is Hamas still trying to play the old game. They used to get hundreds of Palestinians for one Israeli in exchanges. That is what the hostage taking Oct 7 was for. But it went so far over the top, that all that is gone. There are no more negotiations with Hamas. There may well not be a Gaza after this. The old status quo is done. Some in Hamas appear to not yet realize that or are trying to claw back to it.

The Israelis have everything the hospital needs. Just surrender and let them in. Why don't they just do that?

Now he says he's being ignored. Why doesn't he call WHO, bet they can make this happen. Use the time to contact the right sources, less time with the media.

I find it really hard to believe IDF and the Red Cross isn't responding to him.

Several pages back, moo :), the IDF played a recorded call arranging the transport of the infants. He didn't ask for ambulances or transport vents. IDF gave him the streets and time the corridor would be open and ambulances would be allowed. All seemed to be a good. Nope, next day he had multiple reasons and now here we are.
