I asked previously about Dr Mads Gilbert who has worked at Al-Shifa for many, many years and has claimed for many, many years that - in simple terms - Gaza terrorists are great, Israel is bad. Simply google Dr Gilbert's name and you will find many recent news reports and more. But, here's a hours-old report where he claims the horrors of IDF, but most interestingly....we find out he WAS NOT at Al-Shifa hospital when it was raided! (Yeah he claims he's been trying to get back into Gaza... that's fine... but why was he NOT there with his beloved people?!! Why has he spent weeks in Cairo? Why is he on a speaking tour?!!)

AMY GOODMAN: We’re joined now by Dr. Mads Gilbert, Norwegian physician who’s worked in Al-Shifa for years, just spent weeks in Cairo getting — trying his best to get into Gaza. He’s a professor at University Hospital of North Norway and the Arctic University of Norway who’s worked with Palestinians since 1981, was in Gaza there during the major Israeli bombardments of 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2014. Dr. Gilbert, where are you right now?

DR. MADS GILBERT: Right now I arrived this early morning in Johannesburg in South Africa. I will be on an invited speaking tour here on Gaza and Palestine, but with —

I think he couldn't get into Gaza. He's been banned since 2014. It's kind of confusing because I read he's banned, then I read that he isn't.

It seems to go round about....Like he could get into Gaza if he wasn't banned from Israel or something like that?? Oh well, he can reminisce.

That tweet from the State of Palestine..

Israeli soldiers terrorized 1000s of people when they attacked the hospital???

NO Want to talk about terrorized.. how about 1000s of families having breakfast on Oct 7th and being brutally ambushed and burned alive? No warning given. No time to flea, no leaflets dropped, no calls made, no texts to ask them to move out of the way because terrorists were going to attack on Oct 7th.. nothing just cowards sneak attacking and massacring children.

Israel gave them notice they were going to enter. They gave them DAYS to prepare and to leave if need be.

IDF also brought incubators and medical supplies with them.

Perspective is a funny thing.

Blame is again misplaced. How about a tweet that calls out HAMAS for hiding in their hospitals, creating the need for Israel to "attack". How about some outrage that a terrorist network was operating in the hospital where premature babies were being cared for.

The cowardly murderer sounded like a girl yelling, at the end of the video clip.
All tough guy until they get winged by a bullet.
These Hamas would be just fine and unharmed if they'd stayed on their own land, and not trespassed with intent to kill.

Thankful they blurred the face of the victim laying in the road; but they shouldn't have obscured the killer's faces ! People need to see them and know who they are, esp. if they're escaping with hospital staff or patients.
Omo.
The face is blurred bacause that's the "Hamas-released" version.

The South First Responders telegram linked in here numerous times has all the recovered videos posted up without the terrorists' faces blurred and, in a few cases, blurred the victims faces to respect the vcitim's privacy in their horrific final moments.

The IDF has the original version of the videos from the security cameras, Hamas go-pros etc ... thus the facial recognition that is being undertaken by them currently in the Gaza.

US welcomes UN resolution on humanitarian pause and aid corridors

The adoption by the United Nations security council of a resolution calling for a humanitarian pause in hostilities in Gaza is the first global agreement on the conflict, yet is not binding on Israel.

The vote carried 12-0, with three abstentions.

One of the abstentions was the US, with Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the nation’s ambassador to the UN, telling the council: “[we] could not vote yes on a text that did not condemn Hamas or reaffirm the right of all member states to protect their citizens from terrorist attacks”.

But, she said, she welcomed the adoption of the resolution:

Although the US is deeply disappointed by what is not in this text, we support many of the important provisions this council has adopted. For starters, while this text does not include a condemnation of Hamas, this is the first time we’ve ever adopted a resolution that even mentions the word Hamas.

I’m horrified that a few members of this council still cannot bring themselves to condemn the barbaric terrorist attack that Hamas carried out against Israel on October 7.

What are they afraid of? What is stopping them from unequivocally condemning the actions of a terrorist organization that is determined to kill Jews? And that gunned down civilians, burned families alive, and executed children? A group that killed and took hostages, including children from over a dozen countries, including the US.
There’s no excuse for failing to condemn these acts of terror.

She added that Israel was also required to protect human life:

We’ve been clear as to our expectation that parties to the conflict will comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law. And for Israel, this is an added responsibility.

We’ve been clear at the highest levels, Hamas’s actions do not lessen Israel’s responsibility to protect innocent people in Gaza.

The resolution, she said, would not save lives on its own. “We all need to support the heroic efforts of the UN and other humanitarian workers in Gaza. And we all need to work with partners in the region to secure the release of all hostages,” she said.

UN security council resolution at a glance

Here’s a reminder of what’s in the resolution about the Israel-Gaza conflict that the UN security council has just passed. It calls for “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses and corridors throughout the Gaza Strip for a sufficient number of days to enable… the full, rapid, safe, and unhindered humanitarian access”.

It demands compliance with international law, specifically the protection of civilians, especially children, and calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas and other groups.

It does not condemn the actions of Hamas, a point of contention for the US and UK, key allies of Israel. But because those two countries voted to abstain, rather than veto the proposal, the resolution became the first to pass of the five presented to the UN since the conflict began last month.

The International Rescue Committee is among the first aid organizations to respond to the passing of the UN resolution calling for humanitarian pauses and aid corridors in Gaza. In a statement, the group said:

This is long overdue. This resolution also highlights the responsibilities of all parties under international humanitarian law. This is welcome.

The resolution should be an important first step. It is now incumbent upon all parties to the conflict, and all UN member states to do everything in their power to help turn these words into action.

The suffering in Gaza is a massive humanitarian emergency which the world must address. The entire civilian population requires urgent, life-saving support and the response capacity has been decimated.

"Carnage in Gaza cannot be allowed to continue," UN humanitarian chief says

The horror suffered by civilians in Gaza has intensified each day and the "carnage" must stop, the United Nations' humanitarian chief said after Israeli forces raided Al-Shifa hospital.

"As the carnage in Gaza reaches new levels of horror every day, the world continues to watch in shock as hospitals come under fire, premature babies die, and an entire population is deprived of the basic means of survival," said Martin Griffiths, the UN's under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator. "This cannot be allowed to continue."

Griffiths also released a "comprehensive" plan to rein in the carnage and urged the international community to support it. "The world must act before it is too late," he said.

Israel has claimed that underground bunkers beneath Al-Shifa hospital -- the largest hospital in Gaza -- have been used by Hamas as a command center. But hospital officials and Hamas have denied those allegations. CNN cannot verify either side's claims.

UK charity's Gaza manager revealed to be Hamas military medical official

A report to British authorities alleges that the Gaza manager for Global Relief Trust is a Hamas official; was on the ground at the Al Ahli Hospital incident

Ahmed Yusuf Alloh was revealed to be one of the Hamas medical officials that was falsely reporting of mass casualties caused by Israel after a Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) rocket fell in the parking lot of Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza, the GnasherJew exclusively shared more of their investigative findings with i24NEWS.

The open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigation by GnasherJew showed the extent of Alloh's role in the Hamas propaganda machine, as Operations and Emergency Director with the rank of lieutenant-colonel.

Oh colour me surprised. Not.

Hopefully we'll see his butt at the ICC.

So continuing with thoughts about potential future domestic threats from post #425, that imo I think the climate is ripe and an event is imminent, and everywhere should step up their security measures if they haven’t already, I want to say that an incident doesn’t necessarily have to be specifically Hamas-planned or initiated. Similar to some ISIS situations, it could be a small, legally unaffiliated-Hamas group or lone wolf-type scenario. Anyone who is a sympathethizer. We know Hamas and ISIS go hand in hand/think alike (ISIS flag at massacre site, playbooks, etc.).

So I’m not saying Hamas necessarily is going to do something, but it could be someone who is indoctrinated in radical Islam ideology and beliefs, jmo.

Eta: Also, as mentioned, imo Hamas could have operatives already planted in the US, similar to 9/11, as we know they planned Oct. 7 well in advance.

I don't think it's optics. I think they knew it was a headquarters for HAMAS and they were right. They haven't went under the hospital yet that I know of, but I bet as they get further in to the search, they will find the access points for the tunnels. This is not just one building, it's a complex so I am sure they have much to search.

Look at the media posts about this and even the posts here in this forum accusing Israel of things that are the direct fault of HAMAS.. NOT Israel. I never doubted Israel had intel that brought them to that hospital. There was no other reason to surround and hold fast to this hospital if they didn't KNOW it was a HAMAS hub. The doctors saying it wasn't and they were being shot at and so on.. sure made the world get all riled up about Israel wanting these babies to die and everything else that was said. Sick. Israel has no motive to let babies die. But HAMAS sure does. They would love to see babies die and the world blame Israel. They were in that hospital all along, as they are in others. They are hiding among the innocent civilians. If they cared at all about babies and innocent civilians they would NEVER put them in harms way by hiding in hospitals and schools.. They wouldn't put rocket launchers close to those places either. When they misfire or fail guess who is harmed? Guess who is blamed? Such a twisted story it is when terrorist are terrorizing and the good guys get blamed for it.

This is not going to be easy for Israel and the war in the media over "war crimes" is not helping. Israel is trying to root out an enemy that is hiding in places that should be safe. How should they proceed? Let HAMAS go and retreat? Give up looking for the hostages? Or continue to hunt down HAMAS wherever they are.. even in the civilian places. Each time innocent civilians are killed, Israel is evil and horrible and how dare they.. but what about HAMAS hiding among them putting them all in danger? Where is the outrage there? There isn't any.

What happens if Israel retreats and HAMAS regroups.. HAMAS takes the supplies for the civilians and continues to wage war against Israel and more innocent civilians die because Israel let HAMAS get away?

Perhaps what Israel is doing is for the benefit of everyone including Palestinians?
Amen, well stated.

Will the hostage release take place today or tomorrow? ;)

Israel appears not to have much to show for its Al-Shifa operation

Orla Guerin
Reporting from Jerusalem

After besieging and then storming the largest hospital in Gaza, Israel doesn’t have too much to show for its efforts. This controversial operation – which provoked international criticism – did not net a major arsenal of weapons. Unless Israel has more to reveal.

The video material released by Israel so far tonight shows about a dozen old assault rifles – neatly laid out on a carpet.

There are a few bullet proof vests, three hand grenades, some CDs, a handgun, a laptop, a rucksack, and a few knives.

It didn’t look sufficient for a "command centre" but Israel claims Hamas was running one in a labyrinth beneath Al-Shifa hospital.

View attachment 461188
Israel Defense ForcesCopyright: Israel Defense Forces
The IDF shared images of what it say are Hamas weapons it found at Al-Shifa

That said there was no element of surprise. Hamas knew Israel was coming. If it was operating beneath the hospital it had weeks to clear out through Gaza’s extensive tunnel network.

Did Israeli troops find more than they are showing us at this stage? Perhaps. And an Israel Defense Forces spokesman says what has been found so far is "only the tip of the ice-berg".

But it seems likely that the army would want to show the maximum at this point, to justify its assault on the hospital.

No international media have had access to the hospital today - or since 7 October - so we cannot confirm Israel’s claims.

Hamas has said Israel’s allegation that weapons have been found was "lies and cheap propaganda".

And yet, what they HAVE shown (thus far) is direct evidence of Hamas War Crimes by storing weapons ansd using a protected site for military purposes. I don't expect any trial at the ICC for the IDF for this. The storing of weapons and munitions itself within a protected site negates it's protection.

Even the IDF states that it hasn't gone underground ... yet. There'll be lots of prep work to be done to protect those entering before any of that hapens.

View inside hospital during raid. Smoke, dust and some rubble.

Israeli troops scour Gaza's Al Shifa hospital for Hamas fighters, arms

Israeli troops searched its rooms and basement
Killed militants in a clash outside
Uncovered unspecified weapons and "terror infrastructure" inside the hospital compound.
No fighting and no friction with civilians, patients or staff once inside

U.S. distances itself from al-Shifa raid: ‘Hospitals should be protected’

US did not give an OK to the operation
US is not involve with al-Shifa raid

Some Israeli forces leaving Shifa after 10 hours of interrogations, Gaza health officials say

Israeli forces interrogated members of the hospital’s medical staff for 10 hours, as well as injured patients and their accompanying family members

Tanks have left the courtyard, but not the surrounding area.

Israeli forces spent 10 hours in the hospital’s cardiology and radiology departments

___
FBI Director Christopher A. Wray told the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday that the agency has “no information to indicate that Hamas has the intent or capability to conduct operations inside the U.S.”
Still, he said, “we cannot, and do not, discount that possibility, but we are especially concerned about the possibility of Hamas supporters engaging in violence on the group’s behalf. … We have kept our sights on Hamas and have multiple investigations into individuals associated with that foreign terrorist organization

At least 650 patients are still inside al-Shifa Hospital, including 22 in intensive care,

Shameful (the video). Thank you for sharing it Friday Fan.

Israel faced an unprecedented wave of international condemnation after its troops entered the Shifa hospital complex in Gaza, while the UN and aid agencies expressed concern about the impact of the raid on staff and patients.

The scale and virulence of the global condemnation from Arab and western governments raised questions about how much longer Israel can continue with its offensive in the face of waning international support.

The US also distanced itself from the military takeover of the hospital, saying it had not authorised the Israeli decision to raid the hospital.
RSBM
Even if they are allies, since when does the US have the authority to "authorize" anything Israel does or doesn't do? jmo

13 magazines for the 11 rifles that they found makes absolutely no sense. Some ammunition doesn't go with any of those rifles. Plus I don't consider a box of dates a weapon either. The evidence here is underwhelming.

The world has seen enough of the tragedy in Gaza and it is time for countries to use their influence over Israel to put a stop to “this real crime against humanity”, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has said.

South Africa was one of the few countries that cut ties with Israel in response to its attack on the Gaza Strip.
