I don't think they were thinking of future consequences.
They were into the "shock and awe" of the moment.
They got a short-lived revenge.
They showed the world their true colors.
I personally think even Iran was disgusted.
I don't care what Iran's public reaction was.
Iran has it's own nefarious interests.

It showed that Gaza is run by an MS-13 type uncivilized gang.
Incapable of governing.
All they can do it terrorism.
They thought their "allies" would be impressed.
They showed their "allies", that any type of governing by Hamas would be nothing but chaos.
The Middle East seems to gravitate towards authoritarian type governments. Hamas is anything but.

All MOO....
I am surprised that the world isn't more upset about how HAMAS has treated and continues to treat Palestinians. I think that has become very clear in all this. Instead, many still just see what Israel is "doing". How about what HAMAS has been doing in Gaza to Palestinians since 2006. Where is the outcry about that? Where is the demands for HAMAS to give it's people the fuel, money, aide that is sent to Gaza? Where is the demand for HAMAS to release the hostages?

All I seem to see from those that oppose Israel is blind support for HAMAS because they are somehow doing good for Gaza?? It's very clear that HAMAS has created so many problems in Gaza and Israel removing them will open the way for something better to be in it's place. A government for the people. A country can't succeed based on a government that is just Anti something... that government needs to be FOR their own people.

HAMAS wants to eradicate Jews. They do not want to see Palestinians thrive. Their own actions do not support any idea that they are FOR the people they "govern".

One side will not stop declaring DEATH TO JEWS/INFIDELS across the world. And, that one side will not even slightly entertain peace nor denounce terrorism. THAT side is not-humanity driven. How can anyone who wants to actually live in a world of peace stand with HAMAS?? THEY are representing Palestinians! How can anyone accept Palestinians as peaceful when DEMAND to KILL ALL JEWS/INFIDELS is the ONLY thing they care about??? Hamas is a guarantee of oppression for the entire world... what civilized mind can see this any other way???

ETA: I'd gladly link videos of the leaders of Hamas declaring all this but I've already linked them so many times I'm tired of it... and heaven knows everyone else is, too. But, please refer back if you missed them.
Moo...in my opinion Hamas is just a bunch yahoos, I seriously cannot take them as a world wide threat. They are fringe dwellers, like neo nazis and other extremists. They do not represent the Palestinians that is where I disagree. Israel is under the command of a corrupt politician who has no future in politics. This is his last stand, his ego will rule this war. Moo he cares about winning not hostages....moo

It's really sad, but I don't think anyone cares about the citizens of Gaza. If they really cared about Palestinians they would want them free of Hamas rule. I'm beginning to believe the world is much more antisemitic than I knew.

Why do we keep going back 75 years? We are discussing a war that was started by Hamas on October 7th.

By this "logic" I guess native Americans should get a free pass to rape, kill, and burn people alive.
Moo..but the Holocaust..never again...is brought up frequently. Shall we not speak of that?...

Yet Hamas rules Gaza and apparently lots of people are ok with leaving the Palestinians at their mercy.

The Holocaust would absolutely not be a justification for Jews to attack German citizens today.

Any other questions?

Those yahoos (imo killers) started this war and they brought the death and destruction upon themselves and their people... there's no denying. The blaming of Israel and Jews/infidels must stop. No, Israel has not always been the "good guys", I get it. The US has done their share of being "bad guys" at times in history, I get it. But, until Palestinians denounce terrorism AND actually prove over a period of years that they actually "get it"... a civilized world does not exist.... and attempting to live in peace with Palestinians is a fool's errand.

imo

The original terrorists
It was a long time ago. During British Palestine, many Jews were immigrants from Eastern Europe where modern terrorism had it's roots. It was probably more of an anarchist type of terrorism. A political belief that was spread in Europe that anarchist type activities yield results. (True anarchists are anti-state establishment and they still exist today). Many Eastern Europeans were treated like peasants. (Both Jews and non-Jews) This type of terrorism also made it's way to the US in the late 19th and early 20th Century. Jewish insurgency in Mandatory Palestine - Wikipedia

For what it's worth, the US was founded by terrorist acts by colonists against the British.

Fast forward to today
From what I'm reading, terrorism by Palestinians ramped up after the 1967 six day war. Gaza had been part of Egypt, West Bank had been part of Jordan, Golan Heights was part of Syria. Israel now controlled Arab land. Full annexation of the land would require Arabs to be citizens and Israel would no longer be a Jewish state.

Israel and the Palestinians felt the biggest consequences of the 1967 war. Israel began an occupation of the Palestinian territories that continues half a century later. It annexed East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, in moves not recognised internationally.

A 25-year-old Israeli soldier back from the war told his comrades: "We've lost something terribly precious. We've lost our little country."

Just after the war ended, David Ben Gurion, Israel's first prime minister, warned against the seductive charms of victory. In a speech at Beit Berl, the think tank of the Israeli Left, he said that staying in the territories would distort the Jewish state and might even destroy it. Israel must keep Jerusalem, but everything else must go back to the Arabs, with or without a peace deal.
Paradoxically, defeat in 1967 helped kick start the Palestinian national movement. Before then the Palestine Liberation Organisation had been a puppet of Nasser, a way of containing the Palestinians rather than helping their fight for independence.

After 1967 Yasser Arafat and his Fatah faction took matters into their own hands. After several dozen Fatah hit and run raids in only three months in 1968, the Israelis mounted a reprisal raid on the group's headquarters in Karameh refugee camp in Jordan.

___________________
As a result of Israel's victory, the Palestinian leadership concluded that the Arab world was not able to defeat Israel in open warfare, which in turn led to an increase in terrorist attacks with an international reach.[222][223][224][225] While the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was established in 1964, it became more active after the Six-Day War; its actions gave credibility to those who claimed that only terror could end Israel's existence.[226] Also after the war, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine emerged, with its leader George Habash speaking of turning the occupied territories into an "inferno whose fires consume the usurpers".[222] These events led to a series of hijackings, bombings, and kidnappings that culminated in the massacre of Israeli athletes during the 1972 Munich Olympics.[222]

I believe there was no peace treaty signed after the Six Day War. The United Nations Security Council ended up handling it. It's confusing and it's muddy. Could Israel just return their newly acquired Arab land to Egypt and Jordan and be done with it? Could they annex the land which require full citizenship of Palestinians, which would change Israel into another Lebanon? (Lebanon was a Christian majority state until 1980 or so. However, it's now a Muslim majority state)

Anyway, I think the main Palestinian terrorism started after the six-day war and it has continued until today. I don't think it was a major problem for Israel until after the six-day war. Prior to that, Israel's main problem was Egypt.

IMO, this current war is a continuation of previous hostilities. I don’t think anyone can say there was peace in the region prior to Oct. 2023.

IDF: We questioned 300 terror operatives, others from Gaza willingly providing intel on Hamas

The IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504 — which specializes in HUMINT (human intelligence) — has questioned a total of some 500 Palestinians and has made millions of calls to civilians to evacuate northern Gaza since the beginning of the fighting in the Strip.

Dozens of Arabic-speaking Unit 504 soldiers are on the ground in the Gaza Strip, alongside the combat units, carrying out field interrogations and providing intelligence to forces. Unit 504 has doubled its personnel amid the fighting, and established a new sub-unit specifically for southern Israel.

[...]

It says that the terror operatives and suspects provided the interrogators with the locations of Hamas tunnel networks and weapons depots, as well as detailing the terror group’s methods of operation, including their use of human shields.

[...]

The IDF publishes three videos showing detainees detailing to Unit 504 interrogators Hamas’s use of hospitals for terror purposes. The men describe how they hid at Shifa and Rantisi hospitals, the Red Cross building, and other medical centers, while Hamas used the sites to fight against the IDF.

Unit 504 also has sources in the Gaza Strip that have been providing information that is translated into intelligence for the ground forces.

We received thousands of phone calls from [Palestinians willing to provide information] at a magnitude never before seen in the unit. It is evident that the residents of the Gaza Strip are not satisfied with the barbaric behavior of Hamas, the ordinary citizen understands that Hamas is bringing a disaster on the residents of Gaza that will be difficult for them to recover from,” the senior officer adds.

As part of the IDF’s efforts to evacuate Palestinians from northern Gaza amid the ground offensive, Unit 504 has made more than 30,000 calls, sent more than 10 million text messages, and more than nine million recorded messages to Gazan civilians. The IDF has also dropped some four million leaflets warning Palestinians of the dangers of staying in northern Gaza.

[...]
This was a post I wanted to  and :). Hate that Hamas (obviously) freely used areas and buildings that should've been "safe zones" for civilians. Love that a) Palestinians are reportedly "done" with Hamas, and b) willing to "rat" them out.

The IDF details the operations of the 36th Division in the Gaza Strip over the past few days, during which troops battled hundreds of Hamas operatives and located weapons and infrastructure in civilian sites. (1/7)

  • #458
The IDF believes the fighting in Zeitoun will last at least another 72 hours, and when it ends, the IDF will continue to work to demolish all of the terror group’s infrastructure in the neighborhood. (4/7)

  • #459
In a statement, the IDF says the troops, led by the Golani Infantry Brigade, have engaged in several gun battles with Hamas in Zeitoun, including operatives holed up in residential homes, hospitals, schools, and other civilian sites. (5/7)

Yeah, that recording got me. The monster is exuberant in his claims of killing 10 human beings, telling his parents to watch it all on his Whats ap page.....

God give me strength.

If my son were ever to call me with those claims..
I would tell him he needs a good lawyer, and to call me when his trial starts. Not praise him. But, that's just me..

MOO and Peace
You're being nice, imo. If it were me, I'd hope the police got to him before I did...jmo
